mbna is pretty easy you can get by with a perfectly clean bill of health, established credit, and decent job (they like to call you at work) with an average credit score of 680.
i'd try to bump it into the 700's but they consider many more factors.
as long as you haven't been naughty, that will likely then be a complete waste of time.

At least NYers can take part in this promotion, since it's a statement credit and not a gift card.
You guys need to read up on some of the other Schwab promo threads.
- if you don't get instant approval, you'll probably still get the card anyway unless your credit sucks.
- the 180 day disclaimer has been in every app, but folks (including myself) have still received the promos (GC's, iPod shuffle) from every card offer even though they were less than 6 months apart.

Does anyone know if an authorized user (my wife) of my Schwab credit card is eligible for this offer?
Maybe they did not like all of us who cashed out our gift cards?

ok, i know this question has been asked a KAZILLION times, but I am going to ask it one last time to make sure I dont ruin my credit...
if I already have 11 revolving accounts, should I still apply for this card and add another to my list?? or should I stop?? Note: Everything else on my credit history is A+.

to many inquiries can ding your score, not by much.
as far as i know, having too many accounts will not hurt your score, but some lenders might decide you already have plenty of available credit.

I apply for several credit cards (5 r 6 a year) just to get the initial sign-up goody, then I cancel as soon as I have met the period required to get the goody. Will this hurt my credit significantly?
My credit is currently A+ but I do plan to buy a larger house in the next couple years and would like to have good credit at that time to get a good interest rate.

I have heard of some credit card issuers not approving applications because of too many closed accounts.
MBNA is really great. I just applied. While I didn't get instant approval, I got a call 2 minutes later telling me that they need to move my credit line from other MBNA account to this one due to the fact that I already have quite a few cards there. So I agreed and got approval.

I just called and was told my application status couldn't be checked until 7 business days later. Does that mean I was declined?
Do I need to keep the card open for a certain amount of time or can I close anytime?

How is this card compared to an AMEX? Better or worse benefits and extras? I read the details, I am curious about personal opinions and ideas, etc. I have always been a Mastercard man myself. What do you think?

This card has no interesting benefits besides the $100. Better cards for just about every other purpose. Course if you have another better mbna card and get some extra CL to combine - good deal.

applied for my Dad and he didn't get approved either, he just moved, can that affect your applications? thanks
I got a $50 statement credit today following my first purchase a few weeks ago. Odd, since I thought I missed the deadline for my first purchase (doh!)
