TIATruthfully, does it matter? What are you going to do, move the funds from your savings account to a checking account and mail in a check for the initial deposit?

Regardless, I'll post about it when I find out.

FWIW, I got their call confirming my application and sure enough the 6% is good for 3 months, even for me here in Washington state. I'm pretty sure Washington is outside of their targeted list of zip codes. Don't think there's anything to worry about at this point.

It can matter if the checking account has a high yeild. I have money in Everbank at the 5.5% promo (Dime bank promo is next and a Fidelity account (with checks) currently yeilding 5%. So mailing a check is be better for me (might get some overlapping interest) than losing a few days to ACH. Yeah, its only a few bucks...but this is FW

I think this is back, but the teller wouldnt give me any specifics other than "Did you recieve a mailer"...

Could it be?
Did someone from Dime read this thread?

And I have the confirmation in my hand...I'm valid with 6% til 10/17/06.

Funding went smoothly via ACH. Funds appeared in my account at Dime on the same day they disappeared from my HSBC account.

Good job friend Baker! I opened mine shortly after posting the offending PROMO box removal last night, and am also funding by ACH. This will dovetail very nicely with my 5.51% Everbank which expires on August 2.

Baker, how many (business) days was it between when you submitted your application and the account was funded? Do you remember? And then I suppose the next issue we should be addressing is —>>strategies for closing the account.

Dime doesn't offer ACH out; but has anyone been successful negotiating a pull out of Dime from another of their banks? We'll all be trying to avoid loss of interest when we close (especially those of us on the West Coast). My first preference would be a pull from one of my other banks, fee free.

But I thought of another strategy: Open one of their checking accounts (haven't explored this yet, comments appreciated); transfer a small amount of money into it to get it going; transfer the entire balance of the matured CD into the checking account; write check for same; deposit check into other bank account; close (all) Dime.

When I opened my account, I ordered (free) checks with the account, in fact on my statement, this account is listed as a "checking account" (although I would not try to write more that 3 checks a month). No need to open a seperate checking account to transfer out.

I've only tried ACH into this account (from USAA & Fidelity), but I don't imagine there would be a problem doing an ACH out.

BK, where did you see the option to get free checks? Do I need to call them for this?

Fair enough, but no one answers their toll-free number and there is no option to leave a message. What number did you call, and how did you get through to a live person?

Can anyone tell me if they do a hard pull? If so, which CRA? Thanks!

Do you remember?A couple days after applying (maybe 2?), the trail deposit from Dime ($0.02) showed up in my funding account. I sent in an e-mail confirming the amount and the next evening, the funds were transferred.

Dime doesn't offer ACH out; but has anyone been successful negotiating a pull out of Dime from another of their banks?I'm sure it'll work fine. It's just a standard checking account.

Question - how long should I expect to wait between applying for this account and seeing it opened, if I choose the ACH method of funding? My 5.51% at Everbank expires on the 27th, and if possible, I'd like to head right into the Dime account on the 28th - how early should I apply for the account in this case?

Yesterday.

Anyone know if this account is FDIC insured?

Has anyone had this account for more than 3 months ? If so, what did the APR drop to ?

No hard pull.

Don't have it for more than 3 months yet and don't plan to but the interest rate that displays online is 3.92%. Called Dime and CSR confirmed that the account is earning 6% but the rate will display the one that will be earned for the account after promotion is ended. Is this consistent with people that have this account? ie. your interest rate online displays 3.92%?

Also, my ACH was credited at Dime two days before it was deducted from Cap One so interest was double dipped for two days.
