I am an engineer, so if they would ask any questions I would just say I plan to do some consulting.

$250 is the best sign up bonus I have ever seen for a credit card. I will buy a $250 WalMart gift card as soon as I receive the card, then cancel the card after I receive the first statement.

Agreed.

What do you fill in "Business Name" field (Just your name)?
I'm also engineer and would like to get into this deal.
TIA

Not entirely true. I have 3 AE Business credit card and none of them shows up on my personal credit report.

I already have this card - dang - can't get this promo.

Do you have 3 AE Business different type of credit cards or are they the same? Thanks.

I applied yesterday. Of those who have not received an instant approval, how long has it taken to hear back about a decision?

Do you all think not having a business, hence no Tax ID #, will be a hurdle in getting this card and the $250 credit

"We are reviewing your application for Platinum Business Premium Cash Rebate Card. We will advise you of your application status by mail or phone within 8 business days."

Doesn't look good to me. Well, worth a shot. GL!

8 day message here as well.

Seems you can get a 3% discount on American Express Gift Cards if you buy them with this card. I'm not sure if this is in addition to your standard rebate. Assuming 3% is the max you can get I came up with this fun little calculation.

Ten $500.00 cards = $5000.00 (This is the max you can buy every two weeks)
Ten $ 3.95 fees = $ 39.50 (There is a fee per card)

There is a shipping charge of $12.95 so your total comes out to $5052.45. Assuming the worst case scenario of the 3% discount only applying to the face value of the cards you will get $150 Cash Back, or $97.55 net income. This equates to ~2% discount on American Express Gift Cards.

Now get this, do four of these and you are in the 2.5% cash rebate tier. I'm just hoping these gift cards won't be too hard to sell at face value

My credit score is excellent so I just go ahead and cancel the cards because I don't like having so many open credit card accounts. I cancel them as soon as I get the reward, so I can apply and get the reward again a few months from now.

I didn't get any 1099s for bonuses from last year's cards and checking accounts.

Thanks for a good deal, OP.

Same 8-days funk here too. If they don't want to approve the app outright, I would much rather they deny the application rather than ask for a financial review. I have a feeling that I have too many credit lines with AMEX and a financial review involving tax returns is not too far now.

BTW, one of the least useful AMEX cards I have signed up with AMEX has been the Gold Business card. Pretty much no value-added benefit at all. I signed up under a $100 AMEX GC bonus offer but have been quite disappointed in the product. I don't see how they can hope to retain cardholders for that product beyond the fee-free first year.

Everyone does need to be aware of this from the agreement:

"By submitting this application, I, as the Authorizing Officer designated herein, and the Company ,........ (e) agree to be bound by the agreement governing the Account, and (f) REPRESENT THAT THE CARDS WILL BE USED FOR COMMERCIAL OR BUSINESS PURPOSES."

What would the consequences of using the card for other than commercial or businee purposes be? Naturally, they could cancel the card, but how would they determine the purpose of each purchase and what else would they be apt to do?
There's just some uneasiness about agreeing to that if one might use the card for multiple purposes; i.e. mostly business/commercial but occasionally personal purposes, although it doesn't specify "only" commercial or business purposes.
