Did OP ever get his CatFash?

Here's my favorite pic... link.

Note the fire extinguisher. Let's be honest... If you owned this house and a fire broke out, which would you reach for?

1. A fire extinguisher
2. Some type of accelerant

Simmer, (unless I missed this in a previous post)

How did you cope with the county?

Was there some type of appeals process to show that the house was being taxed at a value much higher than its actual value?

No There is no appeals process for past years taxes. I am behind 3 years and over $2000 they adjusted for 2007

I was reading my hometown newspaper online today and read this article about a rented house which was "abandoned" by the couple renting it. After reading the article, I thought of this thread. Like the house in this thread, this too is a sad situation not only for the cats, but also for the owner(s) of the residence.

Cats by the dozens in abandoned home

Simmer - You should start a website soliciting donations and/or adtraffic that generates revenue.

Theme it part amusement / part heart-strings.
Use Youtube's free bandwidth to advertise & chronicle 'live' site footage, ie perhaps some police interviews.

Use www.savekaren.com as inspiration.

I bet you could whip that $2k owed into shape real quick. Use the FWF community to group-write the plot, background & storyboard! Perhaps you could create a affiliate site with links to Petco, reverse mortgage lenders, & health insurance companies with behavioral health/addiction medicine programs to generate additional income!

Basically shake (and profit from) both ends of the spectrum with info and enablement for those 'in it' (mom) and those 'trying to help them with it' (the kids).

Addition to my previous post two up from this one....

There is a follow-up story today in case anyone is interested. Apparently there is a video of this house from the article (not the OP's) on USA Today's website (possibly CNN & Inside Edition as well).

More abandoned cats rounded up

Yes, interesting story. Thanks for following up. Seems some peoples hearts are bigger then their reality about finances. It is hard to think that this is one story among many. But I think it is true. The person who took on the cats had the best of intentions, but didn't have the finances to keep up with it, and got overwhelmed. And had to escape, fight or flight, I don't think it was easy abandoning them.

So I want to pick up the mood with these two videos. Thinking most cats have nice lives doing their jobs (sleeping 20 hours a day, and making us happy by watching them sleep).

Do you have insurance that covers fire on the house?

What about having a local homeless person paid $100 to burn the house down and use the insurance money to get out of the mess?

I hope you are kidding. Didn't see smiles in your post. Maybe I read things to literaly. That is called fraud/stealing. Don't think this is the type of advice the Op was asking for.
