Thanks for posting, OP. I wouldn't have seen this otherwise, since I don't frequent the other sites mentioned. I think I will go ahead and get this card with that deal.

My recommendation:

1. Apply for this card. 20k
2. Apply for the Gold AA card. 12.5k
3. Apply for the AA Business card. 15k
4. Wait for bonus miles to appear in your account.
5. Cancel all cards.
6. Wait 6 months, then return to step 1.

Enjoy a few trips, courtesy of our friends at citibank.

Why stop there? Get the Citibank® / AAdvantage® Debit Card for up to 4000 bonus miles. Fee waived if you sign up for Citigold.

Just keep in mind the card is $85/year after the first year.

You can get 20,000 miles for the Citi AA Business card - link.

My Citi Biz card is set to renew in September. Should I cancel now and reapply in October to get another 20,000 miles and another free year?

You can add another one!

Citibank AAdvantage American Express.

I've gotten 15k, but I believe it is now 12.5k

Do I have to wait any amount of time after I cancel (or consolidate) my current AA card before reapplying?
I've been lazy and haven't even bothered trying to get a retention offer. Gotta get with it!

Edit: Nevermind. I noticed someone noted "60 days" in the Flyertalk thread.

7. Watch your FICO score take a nose dive.

Not really, only 3 inquiries every 6 months. Average age would hurt a bit but no big deal if you've got a number of other old cards. Lots of ways to do more damage than this.

I was looking at the terms and conditions and couldn't see any mention of whether you would have to give up the 20,000 miles if you cancel the card. So, basically, there's no disadvantage to opening the card (assuming you've got good credit) right?

Also, I couldn't find a link to the card when I went thru the menu on the right. I only found the 15K and 12.5K bonus mile offer. Should I be worried that they may not validate this? Has anyone tried it and had it work?

Thanks!

What types of trips could you get with this accumulation? I'm looking at their reward chart and it's giving me a headache. Have you done this before, and where have you gone? All of these acronyms and astericks are crazy!!! What does it all mean man?!?!?
