Their website is a bit buggy. For example, if you're using a tabbed browser (like Firefox) and you close your tab to Amboy without logging out, next time you try to login you're hit with an error message. Instead, you have to completely shut down your browser.

BTW, I've confirmed this bug can occur in both Firefox and IE...not browser-specific

I found the routing number and linked Amboy to USAA. Initiated a push from USAA and the money was there that evening and it earned $.31 interest for the day!

I pulled money from HSBC into Amboy and that balance will be effective very soon, since it already shows up in the Amboy account.

All transfers were done at ~9:30 AM CST and all will seem to be complete by this evening, one day after. Not bad at all!

Hello! Need a little help from you.

When you say "push from USAA", does it mean you can use USAA's bill bay to make a payment to your Amboy account by providing Amboy's Routing Number and your account number? If that's true, does it imply that you can make a push from USAA to make a payment to another person's routing number + account number? That's like a free wire transfer!

Thanks!

Thanks OP.

USAA has a built-in transfer area where you can link any of your external bank accounts and transfer money your USAA account to your linked external accounts (or vice versa).

USAA has built-in the ability to transfer money from one account to another account, but the catch is that both accounts must be USAA accounts.

jackiechiles said:I'll post back with the speed of the transfer (NB: I am in New Jersey, so perhaps this will work to my advantage).I initiated a transfer of $9.00 on 5/4/06 around 6:15pm EDT. As of 9:00am on 5/5/06, the funds had not been credited by Amboy. Meanwhile, test deposits from HSBC, which were initiated around 10:00pm on 5/4/06, did appear when I checked the account at 9:00am on 5/5/06. Just now (around 12:30am EDT on 5/6/06), I checked the account, and the $9.00 is showing as having posted on 5/5/06. I don't know if the addition appeared at close of business on 5/5/06 or after midnight on 5/6/06; I was at work and didn't get a chance to follow as closely as I would have liked. I was surprised to see that the funds are already shown as "available." I would have expected some sort of hold, particularly since they say standard ACH is 2-3 business days, and also since the accrual of interest is supposed to be on a 2-day delay as well.

I will try some more experiments next week.

I had similar results. I initiated an ACH pull from the Amboy side at 2pm on Friday (5/5), and when I checked at 9pm, the funds were showing available. Is this a mirage? I tried to transfer some $$ out as a test this morning...just to see if they really are available, and the transfer was approved. So far, so good.

Too much work. Already got InG, HSBC, Citi, and emigrant. Don't want to open additional account with similar features.

If this works out, I'll eventually dump Emigrant.

I have already dumped ING.

I've had emigrant and ing in the past, and i already like this one better...was quick and easy to set up...and the website is easy to use....clean and neat...plus...that nice 4.75% rate!.....looks like a keeper to me....I spoke to Customer Service and they were very nice and helpful.

I just went through the process of opening up my Amboy account. I funded it from my Presidential checking account. Upon closing out of my Presidential account, I found that Presidential's savings account rate had just nudged up to 4.75%!

So I guess maybe opening the Amboy account was a little unnecessary. Nonetheless, thank you to the original poster for alerting us to this savings account.

I noticed that too, but saw the following:

"A Presidential Premier Savings Account pays you 4.75% APY on balances up to $35,000. Balances in excess of $35,000 earn a competitive 3.00% APY."

LOL....Goldenlight, Amboy National Bank is a medium size bank in the Central part of New Jersey (22 branches) which i believe, has been around since 1888, and of course, like all banks they are FDIC insured.....so, not to worry....

Funny you ask, because last night I had 100% available, and this morning, it was -$90 available due to the holds...very strange indeed.

Edit: Has anyone else experienced this odd after-the-fact hold behavior? It makes me doubt whether the hold will come off when it's supposed to.

BTW, initial hold came off as of this morning (5/11) for the transfer that showed up in the Amboy account on 5/5.

I had a maximizer acct linked to Hsbc.......never had a problem.

I closed out the maximizer to open the premium savings upon advice of a csr.The initial small deposit into hsbc didnt show for a few days.........got me uneasy, as i had such a positive experience with the other acct.

I initiated a transfer today on amboy side from hsbc , @ 7am . HSBC will not post until after 8pm tonight. I am anxiously awaiting the results and will share.
