"Open a Regular Savings account online or in a banking center and you could earn a $25 Bank of America Gift Check. (what's Bank of America Gift Check??)
...
You will receive your $25 Bank of America Gift Check within 60 days of opening your new Bank of America Regular Savings account with an opening deposit of $100
...
Remember to verify that the offer code KAG1 appears on this form before submitting to ensure you get your $25 Bank of America Gift Check once you complete the account opening process."

Account monthly maintenance fee waived with a monthly transfer of $25 or more from BoA checking.

I guess you could setup automatic transfers from your checking and then back into the checking next day
You'll have to do that for 6(?) months I guess then you can close the savings.

Maybe existing BoA checking customers only?? Don't know. Maybe targeted? Probably not.

will BofA pull your credit for opening this account? cuz WellsFargo and Citi does.

I wonder if you can take advantage of this offer and still get the 100% Keep the Change Match for the first 3 months (max $250).

If so, this would sweeten the deal even further. I really didn't want to open another savings acct just to initiate (253) $XX.01 transactions but this may just sway me.

I actually got a mailing from them this week offering $100 for opening a checking account and $25 for savings. Do they have no-fee options to prevent me from having to pay a monthly charge for the accounts?

for the checking it's only direct desort and maybe some (high) minimum balance afaik
for the savings $25 transfer from checking to savings waives the fee

YAY! It's back! (It had disappeared for a week or two)

Does your mailer look like it could be shared? Can you scan it? If you don't have access to a scanner (but do have a fax), you can pm me and I can give you a 1-800 fax number of mine so we can share.

I got the same mailer, it said you had to take it in with you into the branch and see a teller.

mine says I can also apply online using the link in my OP

i did this in Jan on internet and didn't enjoy the experience. The minimum for the savings is $300. They did not let me open the account with 300 Instead they let me transfer only $100 aat the account opening time. I added $200 a few days later when I saaw the account online.

Next month there was a charge for $1.5 for balance below $300. I transferred $50 quickly but this charge brought the balance below $300 for a day or 2 and I had a $3 charge next month. I have not see the $25 gift card still.

It is impossibly difficult to talk to the CSRs and when you get through they do not help.

I have been a long time BOA customer but I have started looking at other options for my checking account as a ressult of the way they have been of (dis)service.

YMMV I guess.

Isnt this (keep the change) offer for debit card transactions? Please explain how you are thinking of using it

Must differ from state to state, mine explained I would get $100 dollars for opening any checking account that my region offered with appropriate opening depoist and issuing of debit card. Nothing else was needed and $100 would be direct deposited into account within 60 days. However I had to take the coupon part of the mailer to a teller.
As an aside of why I probably got the offer I have a BOA Credit Card but no banking relationship with them.

Sorry, doesn't appear to be shareable. It has my name and address on it and a rather long alphanumeric offer code.

My question is this: assuming even if you could scan the original mailer, does BoA accept a scan/copy or they will insist on the original mailer? Have anyone tried a scan/copy of any BoA offer in the past and actually succeeded?

I've had the same problems with BoA charging me monthly fees when they should not be doing so. As for phone CSRs, don't even get me started. When I call the number for California, there is not even an option on the menu to talk to someone. I'm forced to listen to info about my account first, then listen to a menu of options, then wait till it connects me. Pain in the behind. Furthermore, live CSRs are only available 7-10 (every other large bank has 24/7 help, incl. Citi and Wells), and when one gets ahold of a CSR, they are usually quite difficult to understand or just don't make sense.

I know people hate them as Well, but I have never had a problem with Wells Fargo charging fees incorrectly, and the phone CSRs (easily available) speak clear English and make sense (and have been friendly). If you have direct deposit AND can get free bill pay (min. balance) or are a college student, I'd definitely recommend Wells Fargo over BoA (they also have better branch hours and nicer ATMs). Of course, that's if you're in a state with one nearby. Also, Washington Mutual is worth a shot, despite not-as-great online banking.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, Wells Fargo currently has a deal where you get a $25 electronic gift certificate for GiftCertificates.com if you open checking and/or savings online (I think you get $50 if you open both, separately). I opened two savings accounts a couple weeks apart and received both via e-mail in a reasonable amount of time.

I rolled in with a printed PDF of the $75 offer and handed it to the CSR when opening a checking, and said "a friend gave me a photocopy", in this thread:

Of course, I haven't actually received the money yet, but I assume it will work.

And, needealsnow, your problem with the fee is a pain, but it is understandable given the definition of their account fee. When they say $300 minimum daily balance, they mean close of each and every day needs to be over $300 to dodge the fee.... or transfers from checking of at least $25.

I applied for checkings as well as credit cards lst year on a similar occasion but they never sent me the money. Even many of my friends did not recieve it. This is humbug from BOA. Never believe BOA. If you get it please post it. Wonder even if a couple will get it.

Funny you mention that. I have the same pdf. Did the CSR say anything or make any comments in a way that made you assume but not be sure you are going to receive the bonus?

I think you can find a actual $75 coupon in the changing address envelope in Post Offfice. I found one a few days ago.

Thanks for the heads up. One thing that holds me back is that I have a BOA ATM right next to where we are. But I will surely be looking out.

markkundinger: I don't think they should have charged me fees because they did not allow me to open an account with a transfer of $300. So they are completely wrong. Worse part is when I call up and jump through hoops to talk to a CSR, they are absolutely disagreeable. I have made a lot of money in BOA stock and it is good time to sell IMO.

The CSR just seemed baffled by it when I presented it, asked a coworker "are we doing $75 offers?" etc. But he didn't say no or anything.

And NDS, I agree that not allowing someone to fund a savings with the minimum balance to avoid a fee is pretty lame. When I funded my savings online, I was able to do it (with a CC!) up to about $500, I think. And actually, I'm not unsympathetic. I just called up Wells Fargo and whined until I had a $7.50 fee reversed.

Sorry to keep beating up on this dead horse, but I have a pdf and was thinking of closing my current BoA My Access account and wait a few week before the expiration of the offer to open a new one. I am not sure if this gamble is gonna pay. It's hard to read what was going on in the CSR's mind. Do they enter some kind of code for the bonus, or could they just ignore that and simply go ahead and open the account, knowing the customer will probably end up calling their 800 number and go through motions.

You need a savings account for the debit charges to "sweep" your savings + their contribution into.
Since BoA savings interest rates usually suck and have a $600 min, I never bothered opening keeping one open.

I believe the 3 month KYC matching bonus is an incentive to get people to open up savings accts that earn very little interest.

My question is this: If you open the savings acct for this $25 bonus, are you precluding yourself from the matching KYC bonus? I'm sure KYC will work (with their whopping 5% match) but that alone isn't worth it to me.

--
There is a thread here on KYC bonuses. Technically, you could just do a whole bunch of transactions that end in 1c and in addition to sweeping your 99c into savings, BofA will give you another 99c. (253) xx.01 transactions later and you should have $250.47 of your money plus $250 of BofA's.

In this thread I think I stumbled across the optimum order to do things if you currently have no relationship with BofA. I don't see a reason why the $25 would break KTC.

Of course, I haven't yet received any of the bonuses to prove it.

I just went to my local post office and picked up a moving package. No BoA coupon. However, there was a $200 Citibank coupon for a new checking account, which I already have.

When I clicked on the "special offers" link today in my BoA online banking there was an offer to open a savings with no maintenance fees for 6 months (no transfers from checking needed), I wondering if I can combine this offer with the $25 opening bonus.
