I also applied for two chase cards last week. I got the 30 day message on both of them. That night I got an email that they were reviewing my app and not to submit any more apps because only the first one would be reviewed. Haven't heard anything else yet. I'm glad I applied for the cash rewards card first. I hope I get both of them though, because the second was a 15 month bt offer.

Welp, logged into Chase online, and there was a entry for an approved credit card with a $4k limit. Only problem: I don't know which Chase card it was, the Sony or the Cash Rewards.

EDIT: called Chase CSR to "check the application status", she showed that the new card was a Mastercard, but could provide no details. However, deduction tells me it was the Cash Rewards card. She also said that she showed two applications pending, which was weird, hopefully one was the Sony Visa and the other was a ghost app from the Rewards MC.

What did it say on the chase online thing? Mine said "Sony... (1234)"

Also how many hits did Citi do on your credit? I applied for 3 cards and got 1 hit pretty nice if you ask me.

I got the cash plus mc in the mail today. So I guess as long as that was the first one you applied for, you're good.

My online thing describes the card as simply "Credit Card (1234)", much like my existing Visa. Which I guess would lend further credence to the idea that it was the Cash card that was there. Plus, the other CSR on the phone had just confirmed my address for the Sony app this morning, and said the app was still pending at the time.

Right now I'm showing 1 Citi credrep pull from last weekend Apporama, and a new one this morning from Citi/CBSD (presumably the business card division), and finally another one from Citibank, I think from a bank account I opened on the phone.

... oh yeah, I opened a Citibank account for the bonus cash.

Anyway, the AOR only did one pull, but I've got 3 more apps floating in the wind with unknown status.

alert mods

mark, if the chase account just says credit card - then it will be the cash rewards card. I applied for both cash rewards and sony on the same day, and sony is listed in my online account already. It specifically says sony card. So if yours doesn't, then it will be the cash rewards.

What citibank account are you talking about?

The promo with the MGSF code mentioned in the middle of this thread.

C'mon, I updated the post summary with this info, ya gotta keep up

Hey, Mark:

How many hits from Chase did you get before and after you confirmed you address with them? I am on the same boat as you, got the cash rewards card approved and asked to verify address for the sony card except that I did not call them yet. I only get one hit up to now but I am worried that they may pull new one for the sony after I call.

alert mods

I got one hit from Chase when each application was made last week. Calling them yesterday does not seem to have triggered an additional hit.

... I may have two new MBNA hits to figure out, though

EDIT: In other news, I logged in to check on my existing MBNA Schwab card, and it appears that my CL was reduced by $5k. I guess some of it got shifted over to the two new cards.

alert mods

I had read mixed things about that as well, but I applied and was approved for the following Citi cards in my app-a-rama.

Citi Business Premiere Pass ($150 thankyounetwork pts + $10 cardoffers) 5000 CL
Citi Premiere Pass Elite ($150 ty pts+ $40 cardoffers.com - $75 annual fee)
Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards AMEX ($100 ty pts)
Citi Home Depot (0% no payment due until 5/07) - bought kitchen appliances 10000 CL

Perhaps because one was a Biz card and the other was considered a "store" card I was able to get by. I also had a couple of Citi cards already, too.

StartingMoney said:Green for you OP for a detailed write-up and follow-up posts. I'm waiting to hear about your Citi apps, as I was under the impression that Citi only allows 2 apps per 60 day period. I could be mistaken, but I think I read that on www.creditboards.com.

Tasha, your post was unusually cromulenttly timed. Today, when I got home from making my initial deposit in my new Citibank account, I checked my mail, and there was all sorts of interesting stuff:

Bad: The letter from MBNA confirming that they were reducing the CL on my Schwab card when approving the Jets card.

Good: New Discover Gas card, with an $8,000 CL (just as I requested, guess I should have gone bigger). When I called to activate, here's what transpired:

- Found out I could not consolidate or reallocate Discover card balances, just as other FWFers have said.
- Found out that asking for a CL increase would make no sense on a new account.
- Learned of a $20 CashBack bonus on my first purchase. woot.
- Performed a $7500 no fee BT into my Citi mtvU card, which I will then launder into cash. (making this my first entry into the FW BT arbitrage game)
- Asked the CSR to explain to me in small words exactly when the 0% will end for me (June 23, 07).

Bad: Got three letters from Citibank, informing me that "It is our policy to limit the number of credit requests that we process within a 60-day period. Our records show that you applied for credit with us within the past 60 days." They were all signed by the manager of Consumer Credit Services.

Time for some Citibank Strategizing, People!

My hope going into this was to get enough TY points to buy my own Citibank branch. I'm going to fall far short of that with only two bonus-bearing cards. I think Tasha made a good point about business Citi apps possibly falling into different "buckets" than consumer ones. So I am strongly considering applying for a second Citi business card (with the disclaimer that I don't actually have a business, but they didn't mind giving me the first card).

Anyone think this will get me in trouble?

alert mods

Well i suppose its good Citi only hit your cr once right? Mine was only 1 hit.\\
Your NY Jets card was the limited adjusted equilly like they took 2k from schwab and gave 2k for the Jets card?
I don't think its a totally bad idea to ask for CLI on a new card, did u call em up telling them u want to transfer more then you were given? They might consider upping it then.

The Citi think I think all they can do is just send you another letter saying blah.. 60days.. I would submit your other app before you BT tho, I think BT'ing a crapload of cash then apping for a new card could raise some flags.

Or wait the 60days and reapply for another =D ill consider this is i can find a good deal. Im thinking of trying a Citi Business card also just for the free points. seems like they allow 2 regular 1 business so far.

It was my first biz app and I wasn't sure if it would go through or not. In addition to the three Citi apps which were approved I already had a Diamond Rewards, which was converted from an earlier cc and an ATT Universal, now Citi product. All together this gives me 5 Citi cards (not including the Home Depot one as that is a store specific one.)

Oh I meant in 1 AOR, would be nice to know if they do have limits on business cards too, since it seems like they will give you the 60day notice on more then 2 Citi regular apps.

Tashayar: what is a MBNA Star Trek MC?

Time to hunt foir a citi business card!

I found this on MBNA's site but no pic of what the card looks like now. I've had this card for over 11 years and it gives a 10% discount at the Star Trek Experience in Vegas. They used to offer limited edition exclusive action figures for signing up, but don't see any of that now.

application

BTW, unless you need another card with no sign-up perk just for BT, then go ahead. There would be no incentive for me to sign up today for this.

Well, taking a page out of the tashayar playbook, I decided a citi business app was worth a shot, and threw down on a couple more applications.

Citi Business PremierPass (15,000 TY points + $10 thru cardoffers). The app was, predictably, deferred, so we'll see if I get more mail from Citi Business Credit division telling me to leave them the hell alone. (pulled TU)

AMEX Hilton HHonors card (bunch of Hilton points + $40). insta-approved for $13k. Geeze, where has AMEX been all my life? (pulled Equifax)

Wells Fargo Platinum Card, responding to "pre-approved" mailer for 0% for 9 months. While applying, I requested a $19,500 BT to my citi laundering card. While I'm hoping for a $20k limit, my app was, understandably, deferred. (pulled Experian)

BofA Efectiva Visa (apparantly they want to pay me for doing BT's). Requested $10k BT. deferred (pulled Experian)

BTW, just did a truecredit update, and my current FAKOs are TU 755, Experian 766, Equifax 756. The reports are showing 2 new MBNA, 1 Citi, and 1 Discover accounts. It looks like new accounts are a bigger drag on scores than inquiries. (Which is kind of a "duh" observation)

Oh man. I called up Chase to check status on the Sony app. That's still pending, but then I found out some new information:

Good news: I got approved for a Chase Marriot Visa!

Bad news: I didn't remember applying for a Chase Marriot Rewards Visa. Going back through my notes now, I do see a comment about it on my apporama day.

Is this the app-junkie's equivalent of waking up in a strange bed after going on a bender and blacking out? Do I need to check myself into some sort of 12-step program?

How did u sign up for a Citi Business card or did you have an EIN?

davef139 said:How did u sign up for a Citi Business card or did you have an EIN?

I just entered my SSN as my EIN, said I was sole proprietor, name of business was "markkundinger", etc. Of course, I don't know if it will work. The card that I already had approved was just over the phone after being solicited for it.

Tasha or someone else who's applied "cold" might have a better shot.
