you should manually set your payments every month ANYWAY....those looking to "set and forget" their CC bills are just ASKING for trouble. If theres a disputed charge, you dont want to have it autopay the bill in full.

Dont be so lazy that you cant be bothered to first review your bills, then pay your bills.

Thanks for the replies.

SIS, I monitor my accounts on yodlee every couple of days, so the chance of a disputed charge getting in is unlikely. In fact, I am paying Paytrust $120 an year, just so that I can have the full autopay feature. I haven't seen it in any service provided through checkfree, hence the reason I asked my previous question.

Thanks again.

if you do monitor accounts regularly, I cant imagine its that much more difficult to go into MBNA and mannually set a pay in full amount for each cc bill every month, for free? I only have to schedule the billpays about twice a month, Im paying dozens of cc bills with it.

I'm going to vote for the lazy option. Chase offers a "pay previous statement balance" on their site, and back when the Chase card was the only one I had to pay each month, it was absolutely dreamy.

If I could get all of my credit card bills that smart, and figure a way to autopay my rent, then I could just disappear for a couple months and everything would still be fine. That would be the best.

Instead, when I get a bill or a notice of a bill, I hop on MBNA and update the payment amount before I forget. It's not a ton of work, but I'd rather be able to skip it.

That's exactly right, Mark.

As you said, it's not a lot of work, but it's one less thing to worry about. And when I get caught up in work, I tend to forget.

One other problem - and I faced this- when I used to use checkfree.com. I misplaced the decimal point, once. Unless traditional check writing, there is always a small possibility of error when you need to do this manually.

Third, with Paytrust, you can see all your bills from all your payees (upto an year back) at one place. Makes it very convenient, when you want to see one of your bills that you paid, 3 or 4 months back.

And yes, you can auto-pay the rent and you get to keep the float till the check is encashed.

Have you had any luck in using BillPay for paying PayPal Buyer Credit? Not that I'm using it, but I've used it last year (for a 0% APR delayed payment on a eBav purchase) and I couldn't find it on MBNA's BillPay.

5. now that boa owns mbna, have any features been removed or changed? is it still free?

In fact, I am waiting for the BofA polite approach, shown before, when they treated you like "the customer who is always right". I am waiting for the MBNA loophole "overuse" problems to disappear completely.

Or am I too optimistic?

My last post here, at least for a while: can you confirm that you paid MBNA from GMAC MMA (with checkwriting) without any side issues (bounced checks, locked card etc)?

Thanks in advance!

Can the Fideltiy 1.5% card be used as a billpay funds source?

I know it can't by itself, but I read somewhere that it can if you already have an MBNA card that allows billpay.

yes, it can, I've been using the fidelity card for billpay for a few months now.

Anyone found any "in-network" merchants?

One of the reasons I have not yet tried a large-scale AOR is because I am terribly afraid--with so many bills to track--I will forget to make one payment, and the whole scheme will come crashing down. My real job can get too busy at times to check for bills every day.

I assume using MBNA with auto cc payments helps.

Do you guys, with dozens of cards, have any other techniques/tips to help simplify/minimize the monthly payment process?

I auto pay as much as I can with CC (for the rewards).
I set as many bills as I can to be due the same day each month.
I keep all my bills paper and put them in a folder and pay everything once a month.
I have a check list to make sure I didn't forget/miss any bills.

Some people auto pay the minium to credit cards just in case.
Yodlee helps, it has a section for bills about to be due.

But you still don't earn rewards on it, right?

I've been using my Merrill+ card with it - but I have another MBNA World Points card (well just expired, new one says BOA) so I hadn't tried it without having another MBNA account.

I only have about 10-12 cards, so I'm not a perfect example. I have each card setup in checkfree to autopay. Their autopay only pays the minimum - but I go through a couple times a month and either change the payment to total due or cancel the payment and pay it through MBNA.

Only "in-network" merchants will earn points on billpay. I have yet to see an in-network merchant, see my question above.

I know for normal MBNA cards that is the case, I was just wondering if because it was a Fideldity MBNA card if the system credited rewards. Since they are charged as a grace-period cash advance, I can't see it happening though.

As far as in-network merchats, I haven't run across any. I get the impression that if I did, they would already take creditcards.

I have been using billpay through my last 3 residences (changing elctric, gas & phone companies every time) and I have yet to see an in-network merchant. I imagine there must be a couple though, just so they can claim that you can get rewards by paying your bills through them.

Your Bill Pay Choice service is designed to do just that - pay your bills. Bill Pay Choice transactions are not eligible to earn points.
