Hmmm...seems like BofA may be drawing the noose tighter around the neck of our beloved Billpay Choice. My guess is that BofA had to honor the contracts that MBNA had with affiliates like LL Bean, Schwab and Merrill. I have Schwab and Merrill cards and they both still have Billpay choice. My other MBNA card that was converted to BofA also still has Billpay choice even though I opened a BofA checking account a while ago.

I just finished scheduling payments using my ex-LL Bean Visa. Go figure.

Have you had a statement cut since July 1 or do you have other BoA credit cards which may be enabling Bill Pay Choice access for all of your cards? My access worked fine until the July statement was cut.

My statement does not cut until the 15th... I had access when I checked yesterday, gone today. Nothing else changed. I am going to see if they will re-instate it.

Like others, my billpay is gone. Nobody on the phone could tell me whether previously scheduled payments would be made or not, and nobody seemed to understand why I needed to know whether my bills would be paid or not.

Has anyone had a payment go through since their billpay disappeared? Otherwise i need to start scrambling to pay my credit card, mortgage, etc, by other means! thanks.

Previously scheduled payments are still going through. It looks as if they simply chopped off access to the BillPay Choice application. On another note, is there a way to pay our "new" BoA credit card from an external account on their site or do we have to push future payments from an outside source?

More info would be great. How did you originally access Billpay choice (through FIA cardservices or BofA.com)? Did you recently open any new accounts (credit or checking) with BofA before you lost access to Billpay?

I originally accessed it through MBNA, then BofA.com. I didn't recently open any new accounts, but BofA changed the card (LLBean Visa) into a new card. My statement date isn't until 7/9, but I noticed the billpay was gone around 7/5.

Thanks, jjbiv, I'll just assume previously scheduled payments will go through. And then panic if one doesn't

Thanks. So it looks confirmed that all LL Bean card holders will lose Billpay choice after a card conversion from BofA. I'm quite surprised that I still have Billpay choice on my old MBNA card that was converted to a vanilla BofA card after the merger. I also still have Billpay on my Schwab and Merrill cards that I access through FIA cardservices. It seems that if BofA dropped the affiliation with either of these brokerages, then Billpay choice would probably get the axe as well. Thanks for the updates everyone.

I still have the MBNA BillPay on my old MBNA card as well. I wonder if this will eventually be phased out as it appears to have been for LL Bean cardholders?

Looks confirmed to who, how? Mine still works as of this moment, knock wood. Y'all are jumping to conclusions, but that's SOP for this thread.

Schwab is still ok for me. I made payments a few days ago and I logged in last night.

All my BofA/Fidelity/CS cards are ok with BillPay (credit card version).

It looks like BillPay "may" disappear whenever there is a "Delta" (i.e., some kind of change) either initiated from the bank or the cardholder.

Dang it. I haven't used my Fidelity 2% for a purchase in over 6 months, only been using Billpay. I made two purchases this month, one to Buy.com and one for a conference registration (both supposedly secure sites). Suddenly, there were fraudulent charges showing up a week later. Arrrgh. They have to cancel the card, but claim that everything will remain the same, including the Billpay. If the card they send me doesn't work with Billpay Choice, I'm going to be pissed. Anyone have experience with this?

Just from the fact that 3+ individuals have had it happen to them in the recent past.

Why did they have to cancel the card, couldn't you have just canceled the SafeShop number?

You did use SafeShop for on-line purchases, didn't you?

I just got off the phone with a CS rep. They told me they are getting a lot of calls complaining about this change and the loss of billpay choice. He told me that they are working on a possible solution to return the service, (he called it migrate the account back to the billpay choice system). He said he would add my account to a list of accounts to be migrated. I am not really putting much hope in it happening but you never know... He did also say he could still access the system and all payments that were scheduled before the change will still be honored. I asked him to list them for me and he was able to do so. Bummer I did not finish scheduling my payments before the change! The number I called was specific to online banking/billpay, not the general access number- the number was 18008875749 choose option 2.

So the evidence that supports your bias is relevant, and the evidence which does not is to be disregarded. Okeydokie.

hmm not sure if you're trolling or not. The evidence which does not support my "bias" was not disregarded, just outweighted by the evidence that does.

When I lost my MBNA billpay two weeks ago. I wailed up a storm about all the time it would take me to rekey my payee info into the BofA system and with that investment of time, it just might make sense to shop for a new bank at the same time.

Immediately, he offered me $50 statement credit for the hour or so worth of work that would be required.

So, if you can't get your MBNA billpay back, here's a way to approach getting a quick $50 to easy the pain of the loss.
