I have yet to see an in-network merchant, see my question above.I have been using billpay through my last 3 residences (changing elctric, gas & phone companies every time) and I have yet to see an in-network merchant. I imagine there must be a couple though, just so they can claim that you can get rewards by paying your bills through them.My billpay screens make no such claim. It says right at the top:
Your Bill Pay Choice service is designed to do just that - pay your bills. Bill Pay Choice transactions are not eligible to earn points.
If you go to help, you find this:
In-Network Transactions - means a bill payment made with your credit card Funding Account to a merchant which accepts credit cards through Bill Pay Choice. This transaction is a Purchase and enjoys a grace period (if any) under the terms of your Credit Card Agreement. If your credit card has a rewards or points program, your bill payments are eligible to earn rewards or points. These in-network transactions are typical credit card Purchases, unlike out-of-network transactions. |

I see ameritrade on there. Has any tried sending a payment to therir ameritrade brokerage account?
Manual said:No.
No point, I strongly suggest you don't use it.
Any particular reason why this is more risky than paying another credit card with this service? Why would they offer a brokerage (with whom they have a strategic tie-up) if they didn't want you to fund them?
FWIW, I did send a payment for monday, which has been processed already. I hope I don't get a slap on my wrists for that!!</blockquote> |

I just signed up for MBNA billpay and am surprised to notice that they don't support ebills for credit cards, though checkfree supports it. So, now, I have to either recieve bills by email from credit card companies or receive paper bills and schedule it via MBNA. |

Here is what I did, I signed up for both mbna bill pay and mycheckfree. Now mycheckfree sends me an e-mail when the "e-bill" from other credit cards come by. I login into MBNA bill pay to pay and file the mycheckfree e-bill. Little more work. |

I am a new user of MBNA net access. Please let me know if there is any charge for using its bill payment service which is praised by many users. |

UnixLab said:In there any update with "In-Network" payees? I have not seen one yet.I don't think there is a specific designation on the website as to which merchants are in-network. their definition essentially states that if the merchant normally accepts credit cards, then the transaction will be considered in-network and will earn points. For example, if your telephone company takes credit cards, and you use MBNA billpay to pay the bill, you would earn points. If your telephone company does not take credit cards, you can still use MBNA billpay, but you won't earn points.
In my case, if the merchant accepts credit cards, I use another card anyway (and then pay off THAT card with MBNA billpay). I only use MBNA billpay for transactions that otherwise won't accept credit cards. |

How about those companies that do take credit card payment but will charge you fee if you pay by credit card? If you use MBNA billpay to pay those companies, will that consider as "In-Network" ? |

If you use MBNA billpay to pay those companies, will that consider as "In-Network" ?Doubt it. Most of those I've seen are outsourced to a payment processor that charges ten or fifteen bucks for the convenience. Example, my electric utility doesn't take credit cards but will let you make a credit card payment "for a nominal fee" through BillMatrix. I use MBNA for this payment instead. Perfect arrangement. |

I think they are trying to say that all in-network merchants take credit cards, but not that all merchants who take credit cards are in-network. |

I have paid ATT/SBC through billpay- no points (not that I care really).
PS, I did get points when I paid my health club membership, go figure.
PS again. Its a monthly auto-deduction from my card, not paid through billpay directly. |

What's the point of using Billpay when you can auto-charge through AT&T? |

I only use billpay to pay merchants who do not already take credit cards and to pay balances on other credit cards (strictly for float and to consolidate nearly all bills into a single debit from checking). |

How can you get more convenient than auto-charge? |
