Looks like a great deal. I dropped Netbank back in 2004 and reapplied last night. They said they need more information and I will receive details in 7-10 days. Btw, the reason I am reopening is not only this deal, but the fact they support Direct Connect, which HSBC dropped. I really don't care about the return on this since I am just doing checking, so this is a good deal for me. |

I just canceled my 2 accounts associated with this deal. There were some discussion about a $7.50 account closure fee in this thread, but it wasn't much of a big deal. Netbank will keep your money if you close it with less than $7.50 in your account. If your account balance is $0.00, they kept nothing. Therefore I transferred all my money out, then sent them a bank mail requesting an account closure. Two days later, my account was closed. Easy money.. Thanks OP. |

Did you close your two accounts after keeping them for six months?

I closed my two accounts about a week ago via their bank mail feature. They had zero balance when I did the request, and there were no extra fees or anything. I probably sacrificed about 1 penny of accrued interest.
My bank login still works, and the account information is still there, but the accounts are shown as closed. |

I see no mention of a "checking account inactivity" fee on the Fee Schedule at www.netbank.com/terms_fees.htm , although it still appears on the printed insert that came with my opening package. I wonder if it still applies.
I just got hit with a $5 "Maintenance Fee" on my money market account because I dragged my feet on funding the account, but they waived it when I called. I told them I would have funded it sooner but I couldn't link to my other banks, specifically Amtrust and GMAC, which is true. One thing I don't care for about NB is that in order to add an external account you have to provide the username and password of the other online account, rather than routing and account numbers. Pretty dumb if you ask me. |

Got my $75 for checking but not MM which were opened at the same time. Opened 1/24/07, was credited for the $75 on 3/01/07. |

For the people that did the money market and checking accounts, did you guys close the accounts after 6 months or before that? |

I waited six months, keeping only $500 in the MMA until that point ($0 in the checking). After a few month period, I did a round trip transfer between the two accounts, just to make sure there was no inactivity fee on the checking (don't remember the exact criteria for that). |

How did you guys transfer out the money? Netbank's shitty online ACH system doesn't connect to Bank of America Checking. |
