OK, I've got about $8000 on two Chase cards at 0% that I want to roll over to another 0% card, but I'm having trouble finding a good long 0% BT offer (i.e. 12 months) with no fee. Any ideas?

It can't be Chase because these are Chase cards.

It can't be Citi because Citi won't give me credit. I had a settlement with them a few years back that's still on my credit report. I have applied for credit with them in the fairly recent past (last fall) and got turned down. (Everyone else is happy to offer me credit despite that blemish, but Citi apparently is taking it personally.) So don't want to apply with Citi again until the settlement falls off next year.

I have an offer from WaMu that offers 0% for 12 months but a 3% fee max $75... I will go for that if I can't find anything better, but thought I'd ask here first.

An alternative would be for me to just pay off the Chase cards, then get a savings account that lets me fund it with a credit card and do it with a card that offers an intro 0% rate on purchases. (The FNBO BucksBack card looks good for that, with its 1% cash reward and $40 in bonuses.) Unfortunately the only two accounts I'm aware of that can be funded with a credit card are the RateEdge account (which is only available to New York residents and their relatives) and Citi's savings account. I know Citi does a hard pull and I'm afraid the vindictive bastards won't even approve me for a savings account. Are there any other savings accounts that let you fund with a CC?

You are overlooking the likelihood that Citi may have turned you down because of their own database, not because of the informations contained in the credit report.
So the settlement falling off the report won't make you better looking from Citi's angle.

Yeah, that's possible, but I won't know until it falls off, unless someone here can confirm they do engage in this practice. (But they've sent me "pre-approved" offers, which didn't go through, which I'd think wouldn't happen in that case.)

But it doesn't really matter why I can't get Citi at the moment. They're off the table regardless of the reason.

Did you get the $82k CL from consolidating several cards? What FICO?

Seamanser said:I have a chase card with an 82k limit - did a BT and the total was $81,999 and have never had a problem. BoA card limit 49k - did the BT for 49k and never had a problem. This was before I started seeing people say to stay below 89% utilization so I do that now. But it was nice using the whole credit line while I was doing it.

newgrannie said:Never did balance transfer before so excuse the newbie questions. Doing 0% balance transfer for dh - was going to max out the limit on the card for the balance transfer. That will be way below 50% of all the credit available him from all credit cards. Is there a concern about doing 100% of his credit on the one card? Also, this is with citicard and I thought they would just ach into his bank account. Yet on the page requesting the transfer it says to have them send a check to him if he wants to put it into his bank (it would be a lot easier for us if they just ach to his bank acct) - is there a way to do this? TIA for all the help - his offer is up april 25 so need to get this done.

I have had my Royal Caribbean MBNA card for 3 years and they offer a .99% BT offer. Bank of America Credit card offered me a 0% for 9 months 3% BT fee and I had it for 6 years

chigirl, I'm sorry this isn't more timely, but that WaMu offer is probably worth taking, especially since they don't often make their good offers available without a prior solicitation.

Especially because of the capped BT fee, the key in your case would be the size of the credit line you'd get granted.

All: Please note that this thread is for best NEW account offers, not existing offers. Thanks!

Back in end of Oct/early Nov, received a nice offer for a personal card from Fifth Third - 0% on purchases/BTs for the first 12 billing cycles, with no-fee BTs for the first 90 days (otherwise 3.5% fee, $99 max). As a regional bank, Fifth Third is only available to residents in OH, MI, IL, FL, IN, PA, MO, KY, TN & WV. If you live in one of those states, and have received a similar offer (or receive one in the future), perhaps the notes from my recent application will be of some use to you:

- Applied on Fri, 11/30 (HHI: $60k; $150k+ in available CL reporting; requested a $16k BT with the app)

- Fifth Third is a late-puller. Here in IL, they pulled the traditional TU. If they had pulled in the order in which I filed my apps, they would have seen 0 inq. Instead, they pulled 4 days later(!) (2 business days) on 12/4, when TU had 2 inqs. (See also DJSpray's recent AOR for more evidence of late-pulling.)

- However, once Fifth Third pulled, they were extremely fast at processing the app. My first indication of approval came on 12/6 when a $14.9k BT posted to the target account (less than I had requested). I received the card on 12/8 with a $15k CL.

- Unfortunately, their online account interface, geared mainly toward banking, leaves much to be desired. After a 20 min wait on the phone on Sat, 12/8 to obtain a temporary password, I was told by the efficient, if over-worked CSR that I would have to go into a branch to obtain one. The teller at the branch was able to quickly issue me a temporary pin. After setting up online account access, I have yet to figure out how I can electronically pay the card on their site, to say nothing of requesting BTs, CL increases, etc. In the meantime, I was able to set up the account with both Fido's and ex-MBNA's billpay.

- It's possible that $15k is some kind of initial CL threshold. Given my specs, $15k is quite compatible with my other lines; but for someone like thisguy, $15k seems a bit low with a new issuer. If the database @ creditboards is to be trusted, someone reports receiving a $5k CLI with the pull of a second report after receiving an initial CL of $12.5k. I did notice an option on the phone menu for requesting a CL but did not explore further. [Edit: This post by beethovengirl indicates that her husband received a $25k CL on a pre-approved Fifth Third offer.]

When I set up my husband's account online, all I had to was input the CC # and the PIN # he'd gotten in the mail, so maybe they've changed their online set-up.

Is there any way to do a BT with 5/3 other than over-paying another account?

That's interesting. I had seen a couple of other people report that Fifth Third pulled late for them, so I took it as a trend. Apparently not. I take it your husband applied online? Nice going on the $25k CL, btw!

The online setup is still the same way. I just hadn't got my pin in the mail when I tried to setup account access.

I did get some 0% intro APR convenience checks in the mail a couple of weeks after receiving the card. In one sentence they claimed to be no-fee; in the next, it stated that there was a transaction fee of 3.5% (max, $99). I didn't call them to try and figure out the discrepancy. It was clear, however, that they could be used for either BTs or cash.

actually, I just checked my records, and I was mistaken. I submitted his application online on 11/30, and 5/3 pulled on 12/4. Sorry about that!

We messaged them online about that, and they said the convenience checks had a fee and that we had to call to do a BT.

For all you quilters out there, look what I found:

National City Quilter's Reward Visa

Seems to have the same BT terms as the Lifespring offer. 0% for 12 months with no BT fee for the first 60 days. Has anyone reallocated/consolidated Nat City credit?

US Bank (Elan) deals are back. See here.

Did it strike anyone else as funny that there's a disclosure about terrorist activity at the top of the Quilter's Reward disclosure? Yeah, you have to watch those darn quilting terrorists...they'll poke you with their quilting needles and then wrap you up in yarn...LOL.

Major credit cards that offer 0% for 12 months and no BT fee is fast disappearing. Most Citi cards used to offer this. Only one is left and may not even be available soon since I'm just now getting an "AccountOnline Temporarily Unavailable. For immediate assistance with an existing account, call the number on the back of your card or come back later. If you want to apply for a card, please try again later. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience." error on the link to their terms and conditions which was fine yesterday.

I can't bring myself to apply for the Citi Professional Cash card online because of the two different offer details that I read. On one of their links, the offer states that there is no BT fee with the 0% APR balance transfer offered. But I look at Citibank's website and that same card says that there is a 3% fee (while the normal APR after the intro is lower). I didn't want to take chances so I called Citibank. It took me half an hour to finally get the right person to talk to. Very difficult to reach customer service for business card applications.

Anyway, I made sure that the offer is 0% for 12 months with no BT fee during the introductory period. The CS told me that it will take 7-10 business days for approval process before I can start making transfers. Well that sucks, i thought the approval is instantaneous like BofA's and I need to transfer balances fast. She didn't give me a reference number which she said is not necessary and I thought was odd. So when I should call the number she gave me to check the status of my application, i just have to refer her name and her ID that she provided.

Hope everything works out.

If you apply for the Citi Upromise World Mastercard through the Upromise website, you get an offer of a 12 month balance transfer with NO fee. Apply for the same card through the Citibank website and there is a fee.

I recently applied through the Upromise site and was approved for a $11,500 line. Went to look at the balance transfer offer and the 12 month, 0% fee is there. Yes!

I looked at the Upromise website and it appears that there is now a 3% uncapped fee. Could someone let me know if I'm wrong?
