Ahh! Thank you Scott.

So, if I ACH from Citibank -->>to Countrywide there is no fee (?) -but- (I seem to recall) a daily $50k limit?

Or what is the correct FROM/TO order here to avoid fees?

When you set up Countrywide you just link the account you want to pull from. Countrywide allows you to ACH up to $105,000 per day and $250,000 per month
All you will need is Citibank routing number which is 052002166 and your account number. While Citi is a savings account and not a checking you should be able to pull without a problem and will be free. I pulled from HSBC savings account with no problem

Scott you are the best! I have one last question:

I take it then that Countrywide will PULL the funds — fee free — from Citibank.

Would this in any way be obstructed by Citibank's $50,000 monthly maximum for transferring funds? -or- is that $50k cap just when the transfer is initiated from Citibank?

Thanks honey!

I don't have a Citi account so don't know much about that but I would think its only for transfers you start from Citi and doubt they can tell another bank how much they can pull.

Why is Savingslink 5.25%, Money Market 5.0%, and 3 mo. CDs less than 5.0%?

If anything shows the yield curve is inverted, this is proof!

What to do with so many bank accounts now dormant?! Move over GMAC MM.

edit: just a reminder for those of us with low usage savings accounts. While it might not be technically dormant yet, we should remember to use all our accounts every 6 months to prevent dormant status. Recently I had a $5 fee accessed to my dormant Principal checking account ($5 fee if no activity for 1 yr). I recently wrote a letter to close the account. Some banks do not bother to tell you of your pending dormant status. I need to close another local bank because I will be in dormant status end of June. This is why I wonder if hopping from bank to bank is causing problems for other FWers and how do you keep all your plates spinning and your nonFW spouse abreast of your laundry list of accounts.

They can invert it all they want; just don't revert it until I first divert it.

Well said, from an English major

Pardon my poor english, but FW is causing me so much confusion. I'm just wondering if others are experiencing the same overload or is it just me

I've got enough plates spinning, I cringe when another bank offers a better interest rate. Not that I'm not happy to see rates go higher, but I think just when the dust settles on opening an account, I have to do the same all over again. Soon even I will lose track, let alone being forwarned by my nonFW spouse that I'm spinning a finance web out of control.

We're sorry, but your request cannot be processed at this time. Our website is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance. Please try again in a few minutes.

Countrywide launches a new account rate . . . and schedules maintenance for the first day it is available? What a complete joke.

You got ticked off about having to get a notarized signature on BankUnited and now you're mad (or showing a mad smiley) because you can't sign up for an account the exact hour you want?

You need to lighten up. If you're going for Countrywide that means you have 50K+ to dump in a cash account, life is good, right?

You're right. Life is good. I just don't appreciate Countrywide releasing this rate . . . and then timing system maintenance on the first day of the new rate. If it isn't patently manipulative, at the very least it's tacky. Not a great way to earn customer satisfaction imho.

Thanks all, some questions, TIA for any answers from those with experience using this account.

-I gather they have been pulling "hard" equifax credit inquries on all applicants? Anyone not seen a credit pull, or seen one with another CRC?

-How long to ACHs in and out take? What's the cutoff time to get them processed on a particular business day, in your experience?

-Do you earn interest effective when the transfer is initiated, when funds are actually collected, or at some other time?

Outgoing Wire Transfers $15.00

It appears that Country wide has a fee for outgoing wire transfers. Does this fee only apply when the transfer is initiated from Countrywide website or would it also apply when I pull the money out of countrywide through another webiste like Fidelity or EmigrantDirect.

Thanks.

Wire transfers are not the same as ACH transfers. ACH transfers are free. Pulling or pushing is free

I am ready to not only give up on this outfit but report them to the FEDS. For 24 hours I've been trying to do a transfer from their site and continue to get ERROR pages, claiming "We're doing scheduled maintenance." If you doubt it, here is the screen you will get if you dare to attempt to access account details (the only way you'll ever be permitted to access the "TRANSFERS" tab they claim should appear at the top of the page):
http://bank.countrywide.com/custerror/CHLAccount.aspx

STAY AWAY FROM COUNTRYWIDE
This rate was obviously meant for people who are willing to lose interest while their check clears and/or pay for a wire.

They've taken a hard pull on my FICO, and I'm about to write them to demand that they:
1. Close my account (not funded, since they have pulled any means by which to ACH)
2. Reverse my FICO pull or I go to the FEDS.

These people are shopping mortgages in order to hit you up with solicitations, I am convinced, and have no honest intention of allowing you to move large sums of money to their "bank" FEE FREE.

RUN.

Good luck on that one, When you filled out application you gave consent to pull your report. I sent this message thru bank mail the other day and am still waiting for an answer

"I opened a CD with you last month and noticed you pulled my credit report. I would now like to also open a savingslink account but was told another credit check would be done. Can you explain to me why this must be done? I open a number of bank accounts and very few pull reports and verify identity thru some other method. My FICO score keeps getting lowered due to these inquires as they signal I am looking for credit when I am actually depositing money.
Thank You"

Other than that I don't have any issues with Counrtywide and I don't think they are trying to pull a fast one on you. You stated this account was just offered yesterday but it was available last week and I know of someone who opened and no problems. I don't know how fast transfers will be but would hope its better than HSBC or ING. Would not bother with the with FEDS as a bank this size has an army of legal experts and I am sure whatever they are doing is within federal banking regulations
Also they are a 73 Billion dollar bank, So I don't think they are trying to run some sort of scam

Their website isn't very user friendly. But I think I have finally completed the online process. Once you do the online application, then you must register online for an account!? I had no idea, I kept waiting for my username/password to come in the snail mail, but never arrived. So I called them, and I have to register online since I was approved. Oh wait, I need my bank account number, it was never emailed out or given to me during signup process. They will give it to you over the phone!? I stated that it was never clear what to do online, he said they get lots of calls every day. Wouldn't it just be easier to state directions/steps on the website??

Luckily, the two times I have called in, I got very knowledgable and friendly support and Americans! So that was a little more helpful. So once I logged in, I verified my two initial deposits. I still am not for sure if my outside bank is now considered an external link, or if I have to add it again?! When will my initial deposit be transfered now that I have verified the amounts?!

On a positive note, I did just try to link my Ing Direct account, and it did recognize their routing number, etc. I will wait to see if their two deposits show up in my account. If I could directly transfer from Ing to Countrywide, that would be sweet!

My sister just opened one here. They *saw* her Equifax info (and referred to it) but no hard pull on any CRA so far. ???

country wide mortgages suck, i'd have to guess that any other banking/financial planning with them is just as bad! my advice stay away from them - especially since fed is gonna raise rates tomorrow by a 1/2.
