I got an error during my online application too. I called them and it seemed my info was in the system. There was definitely some problem with their web site. |

They get one bite at my FICO and I hope they enjoy it because they'll be chewing on it for a long, long time.
While I make higher interest elsewhere. And that, a direct consequence of their own stupidity. Which I call justice.

I sent two messages to Countrywide regarding Credit pulls, The first was E-mailed to them and the second was sent thru my account thru their secure bank mail. Getting dizzy reading both as each seems to be opposite. The first makes it seem I will not get another pull to open a savingslink since my CD was done a little over a month ago. The second tells me I will get a new pull. Is my brain just not working yet or am I missing something?
Dear Scott ,
Thank you for contacting Countrywide Bank. We understand the importance of maintaining a high FICO score, in our efforts to stay in compliance with the USA Patriot Act, we only run an inquiry if your most recent new account is older then 180 days.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of our Customer Care Representatives at 877-292-2655 Monday through Friday between the hours of 7am-7pm. Thank you again for your interest in Countrywide Bank, we look forward to assisting you. Customer Care Subject RE: Credit Pull Message Dear Scott,
Thank you for banking with Countrywide Bank. In response to your inquiry, a credit check is made to validate the information provided. As the current Certificate of Deposit (CD) has been established for less than 180 days an inquiry to the credit will be made.

edit: you're right....
First one: ...we only run an inquiry if your most recent new account is older then 180 days.
Second: As the current Certificate of Deposit (CD) has been established for less than 180 days an inquiry to the credit will be made.
It seems to be saying that if you have accounts older than 180 days and no accounts newer, they will pull. Also, if you have no accounts older than 180 days, they will pull. The only situation they may not pull is if you have both, an account older than 180 days as well as accounts newer than 180 days, in which case they will not make another inquiry. Could that be? |

"we only run an inquiry if your most recent new account is older then 180 days." My CD was opened last month so no inquiry for a savingslink?
"As the current Certificate of Deposit (CD) has been established for less than 180 days an inquiry to the credit will be made" and this states I will have a new inquiry
The first and only account I have with them is the CD I opened last month, So it does seem to make no sense |

I tried to use my SavingsLink as the payment account for mortgage and CCs. However they all failed to verify my account information (routing# 056009110 and "Savings" type) Funny thing is that my mortgage company is also Countrywide. Also it's not accepting the two trial deposits sent from HSBC.
Anyone else is experiencing the same problem? Thanks. |

All I can say is, STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK!
I couldn't complete my online application because of their system errors and I called in and was told I would receive an email in 2 days. After 5 days I called again and they told me my application was deleted from the system. So basically I got a credit hard pull for nothing!
Don't waste your time, they suck and their rates will suck because other banks are closing 5.20% and they don't raise their rate as often. |

Is this true? I have my money w/them and am currently earning 5.25% -- wondering whether they'll bump up? |

Hmmm, I'm experiencing a somewhat similar problem. I filled out the online application called them up a few days after not getting any email. The customer rep told me my application was approved instantly but a glitch of some kind prevented an account from being created. She said she'd call me back the next day with my account info, but I have yet to hear back from her. It's been almost a week since I applied.

Countrywide has lowered min to $10k to get the 5.25%. funny that they also had another drop on one year CDs all the way back down to 5.40%. I get the feeling they will also drop the 5.25% on this account soon. Figure maybe they are just trying to get people to open this account and hope after people go thru the work of opening and having a hard pull down they will keep open, Will probably work for them as we FW rate chasing types are still a very small minority in the banking World |

In for 100K @ 5.30%. Also, interest is compounded daily and paid monthly. Very easy to use web site. Must accept third party cookies for transfers. No problems setting up account. Next day transfer of funds. Free ach transfers. |

Just signed up for the savingslink account - everything went smoothly. New account already available on-line, waiting on ACH transfer to fund account.
Update: Well, not so smooth yet. The opening of the account went well - account was set up instantly and I could access it on-line. I signed up Sunday, September 17th, here it is now Thursday the 21st, still nothing in my account.
Funding was to be with an ACH transfer, validation of the external account was done immediately when the account was opened (this has been verified multiple times with multiple CS reps).
I called on Tuesday, Wednesday and Today - each time CS rep says the funding should occur by the next day - still nothing. Rep today says the delay may be due to the external account being "instantly verified" instead of the two small deposits routine.
I also sent a secure email while logged in to my account asking where my initial deposit was. Per documentation on the site, I should receive a reply within one business day - email sent Tuesday, no replay as of today (Thursday).
No funds have been pulled from the linked account, so it's not an issue of the money being pulled but not deposited, it's an issue of the initial funding pull still not being initiated.
We'll see how it looks tomorrow.
/crosses fingers
Edit 09/22/06 - The initial funding ACH transfer has still not been made! I initiated another ACH transfer on the 21st since the external account is already linked, that transfer completed today. Whooo Hooo, account is funded now, just not with the initial ACH transfer request.
Not concerned about the initial funding anymore, if it finally makes it great - if not, no big deal.
I will say that Customer Service has been pretty lax, despite being assured multiple times the initial ACH transfer would happen the next day, it has yet to happen. Email inquiry as to what's going on has never been responded to either.
FYI - Countrywide did a hard pull on Experian 09/19/2006.
Edit 10/23/2006 - Initial Funding ACH Transfer never happened. After a week or so of them telling me it will happen tomorrow and it never happening, I just let it go. That transfer never happened. Transfers submitted after that initial one have all happened. |

I've had a countrywide account for 2-months now and have been pleased with the service, website, and great rate! @5.30% APY for >$50K and 5.25% for <$50K they seem to have it all. The money deposits to my account each month.
The only issue I've ever had is sometimes during the weekend my account wasn't accessible via the online website. I chalked it up to site maintenance. |

I signed up a month ago, and other than an web site error during the application process, I've been very pleased. I've called them up to ask questions a couple times and have always got a knowledgeable & courteous rep.
Wish they had a "interest earned this month" counter like ING has, but making .85% more than ING is worth not having a calculation like that. |
