Text Is this gonna work: 1. My account balance is (and will stay) zero 2. I enroll and receive my rebate coupon 3. make a $40 purchase and pay it off immediately (statement balance will show 0 so no Credit Protector fee?) 4. Submit the rebate 5. Cancel Credit Protector
Pretty easy $40, right?

R U sure its $40 in one shot ? In the past, its $10 one month, then $10 the next, and $15 etc.

On my diamonds reward card, i already receive $10 WalMart gift cards every month. I'm thinking if I can do this $40 rebate for my other account. Went ahead and did it, as I hardly ever have a balance on this card.

one question: why I can not find it myself on their website? I can only find $20 rebate if I don't go through OP's link. Is it OK to sing up through OP's link? Thanks

No quite. They will send you four $10 rebate coupons, which can be submitted once a month. The rebates will arrive approximately 6 months after submission. So altogether, it will take about 10-11 months to get $40.

When I enrolled in this offer I got a $ 40 check after 3 months. I don't know if the delay was a processing delay or that I made a purchase on that card and also paid the protector fee of $.2 the previous month. Never used it again.

They send you four $10 coupons which can be used only within a timeframe.
So to get $40, you need to wait atleast a year; ofcourse by paying the fee during this period.

Not a good deal!
I spoke with CSR and she confirmed that it is a single $40 rebate, not 4 $10 rebates. This is consistant with the wording of the offer: Get a $40 rebate coupon (valid for any purchase).
Edit: She also said the rebate takes about 6-8 weeks for processing from when mailed in.

at an qualifing event (moving to new home) - all u do is dont pay min balance - but interest will still continue to acrue - right?
Remember: even if you pay off balances fully at due date - u will still be charged a fee.
from FAQ: If you do have a New Balance on the closing date for that billing period shown on your statement and pay it before the Payment Due Date, you will still be charged a fee.
so to effectively get the $40 - u should not use the card at all... and claim $40 and them use it...

You can still use the card, just pay the balance before your statement closing date.
Nice...I'll enroll when I get home...free money is always good!

Exactly, it's been that way for a while.
from FAQ:
Q What if I have a zero balance on my card? A If you have no New Balance on the closing date for a billing period, you will NOT be charged the Credit Protector fee. If you do have a New Balance on the closing date for that billing period shown on your statement and pay it before the Payment Due Date, you will still be charged a fee.

How were you able to coax them into giving you another $40? What was your reason for cancelling?
Thanks

Watch out on expecting rebates from multiple Citicards. The rebate company wouldn't let me redeem my second set of rebate coupons because they said it violated terms and conditions of limit one per household. Has anyone had this problem and fought it successfully? I might be able to fight this on the technicality that each rebate coupon has a unique department that it is addressed to. It's pretty devious that they send out a credit protector rebate for each card, but don't tell you that they can only honor a rebate on one card.

Got the 1st $40 check. The 2nd $40 rebate has appeared on rebatestatus.com
One point : the rebates have the same ID code, so the new item will overwrite the old one, so try to stagger the rebates a bit.
[edit : btw, the reason I am churning this one and not the $100 gas rebate is because I don't drive. I suppose I can raid gas stations' trashcans...]
