Is this gonna work:
1. My account balance is (and will stay) zero
2. I enroll and receive my rebate coupon
3. make a $40 purchase and pay it off immediately (statement balance will show 0 so no Credit Protector fee?)
4. Submit the rebate
5. Cancel Credit Protector

Pretty easy $40, right?

Already discussed at GREAT LENGTH w/ tons of information here: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.php?catid=52&threadid=261337&newest=1

Contact # for rebate status is 1-877-776-7905.

This is an automated phone line, so when it is answered, do not press anything. If you wait long enough, you will eventually be transferred to a live agent.

Department #078984, expiration date 3/31/07 (as of a coupon received 1/3/07).

You dont have to make the purchase before cancelling the service or even use the citi card to make the purchase.

R U sure its $40 in one shot ? In the past, its $10 one month, then $10 the next, and $15 etc.

What is a rebate coupon exactly? Is it a physical, paper coupon they'll send you in mail? How do you use it? Or, it is like credit on your account? Can you use it to pay for cable and other similar services?

what if you have multiple citicards? Can you sign up for protection on all of them? and get $40 per card?

alert mods

that's what I'm thinking.

On my diamonds reward card, i already receive $10 WalMart gift cards every month. I'm thinking if I can do this $40 rebate for my other account.
Went ahead and did it, as I hardly ever have a balance on this card.

one question: why I can not find it myself on their website? I can only find $20 rebate if I don't go through OP's link. Is it OK to sing up through OP's link? Thanks

No quite. They will send you four $10 rebate coupons, which can be submitted once a month. The rebates will arrive approximately 6 months after submission. So altogether, it will take about 10-11 months to get $40.

You mean send in each coupon to Citi and they'll credit $10 to your account for each rebate coupon?

When I enrolled in this offer I got a $ 40 check after 3 months. I don't know if the delay was a processing delay or that I made a purchase on that card and also paid the protector fee of $.2 the previous month. Never used it again.

They send you four $10 coupons which can be used only within a timeframe.

So to get $40, you need to wait atleast a year; ofcourse by paying the fee during this period.

Not a good deal!

I spoke with CSR and she confirmed that it is a single $40 rebate, not 4 $10 rebates. This is consistant with the wording of the offer: Get a $40 rebate coupon (valid for any purchase).

Edit: She also said the rebate takes about 6-8 weeks for processing from when mailed in.
