So what do you do with it?

Pay off higher cost debt.

This thread is pretty much dead. I suggest it be un-stickied....

I say keep this thread. While you cant make thousands from Interest bearing accounts some people can use very low apr money for other business endeavors. I see the BT offers starting to thaw and it may be possible to see more easing for people with very high scores into 2012 and beyond.

I just recieved my first decent BT offer in about two years in the mail today. PNC Visa - 0% BT for 15 months for a $79 BT fee. I'm gonna pay down a bunch of my HELOC and save about $1,000 in interest payments over the 15 month term.

rated:

Received a 2% uncapped, 15 month BT for Chase Freedom, although I use it as one of my daily spenders when the categories are right. So they are out there.

VISAs from National City (now PNC) were very kind to me back in the day.

Just curious - was this a new PNC card offer or an offer on an existing card, and if existing, was it a former National City card? Thanks.

USAA MC also has a max 75.00 on their BT's

Hi brt!

Is this the one you area referring to?

https://www.usaa.com/inet/pages/banking_credit_cards_world_maste...
It has 9.9% variable apr. However, With 0% and cap of bt fees for 79$ would be great. I have seen cards with 0$ BT fees but none with a cap on balance transfer fees.

rated:

Hey buddy... here it is:

https://www.usaa.com/inet/pages/banking_credit_cards_military_gr...

I have just gotten the card myself within the last week and can confirm the BT fee cap of $75. Of note- Per customer svc, Use the convenience checks to deposit directly into your bank account vs. writing the checks directly to a creditor.

Thanks Brt for the link. But i saw 200 as max fees on the site. But may be it's by invite only.

But i have a question to all App o rama experts here(May be SiS can pitch in as well).
I did a small App o Rama on Monday. I see that i missed this USAA card and Baraclays Visa Black Credit card with 0% APR for 15 months and 3% BT fees. Is it advisable to apply for more Credit Cards with banks i have not applied for. In other words, I applied for Chase, Citi, Capital One, AMEX and Discover. However nothing from Barclays and USAA. what do fwf members feel? Am i too late to apply for more cards as part of my App o rama ? Does anybody have an experience of succesfully doing an app o rama spanning more than one day. I already see a inquiry from Chase and Capital One on my Credit report.I already have some of my Applications under review. And when i tried to appply for Second Capital One card it was denied with a message that i need to wait for atleast 45 days before applying for another Capital One credit card.

I would definitely wait. With some (all?) of the inquiries having posted already, I would cool it for 6+ months. Otherwise, I would say that denials due to recent inquiries are fairly probable.

I checked this one and it now shows under terms 3% BT fee with a $200.00 cap. Still ok if you can get enough $$$ on the BT transfer.

Inquiries "post" immediately, so it doesnt matter if he applies for the extra cards the same day or a few days later - application #7 is still application #7. At this point, all that matters is if the new accounts have begun reporting, if so it's likely you'll be denied for the number of new accounts.

Regardless, get what you want out of these cards ASAP, since as soon as all the new accounts show up it's likely some, if not most, will have credit limits slashed if not be closed altogether.

Hmm, so is there not a credit inquiry advantage to an app-o-rama then?

I did an app-o-rama about 2 years ago, for (I think) 8 new cards the same day, and I believe I was approved on 7 of those. I think the one denial was due to an unrelated reason (# of cards with balances or something). I was under the impression that inquiries take around a day to post, or at least a few hours. Is my belief completely untrue? (It may be!)

It seems they have updated their systems. its not same as 2007 anymore. Wish i knew of App o rama at that time.

I applied for cards from 5 different banks only got approved for 1 from each one. Same reason was quoted on the declining the card. Too many credit inquiries.
So i should have applied for more bank credit cards as opposed to multiple cards from same banks.
But i was targeting )5 with 0BT fees and that time i could only find 3.

Ahh, good times. All my app-o-rama accounts have been closed by now.

Do they close the accounts themselves because they see you have so many, or do you guys close them after a certain time?

Hey everyone
This is my first post on this forum (I only recently heard of FW!) But i have been following other CC/churning forums. So now here is my question: How risky is an AOR with chase (I'm talking about applying for 3-4 different cards in separate browsers) and also i'll be freezing my experian and transunion reports (both of which have a bunch of hard pulls- for some reason equifax seems clear of recent pulls)

Any opinions on this?

BTW in the past I have applied for 2-3 chase cards at a time and have had no problems calling reconsideration to get them approved, now i'm just nervous because of all the stories of people getting banned...

rated:

What other churning forums?

rated:

In my experience, i got denied for more than one card on a single day and that seems to be the rule these days so pick the best cards for each day. I somehow applied for the best card i wanted first with all the banks, glad i did that homework.

rated:

Is there an "updated" how-to for an AOR? I've opened some cards over the past few years with good sign-on bonuses (but mainly to get 0% APR for 1-2 years so I could invest saved money), but am finally ready to do my first AOR.

rated:

For the most part the same principles apply.

rated:

Is there a benefit to AORs now besides sign-on bonuses + no interest debt for 1-2 years?

In particular, is there a way to "cash out" the credit nowadays to be able to invest it for the duration of the 0% APR? So far I've just been using my cards for daily expenses and investing as much of my income as possible (paying off the debt in a lump sum once the promo period neared the end), but can you do something like buy a gift card, purchase coins with a gift card, then deposit into bank, then use the money to fund an investment, or something similar?

Basically I'm curious as to what others do with their AORs besides sign on bonuses.

rated:

There is a significant benefit to AORs for people with less established credit profiles, I would say -- over time, opening a large number of accounts will balance the average account age metric favorably, softening the credit score blow of exploits 5-6 years down the line.

The traditional AOR days seem to be over, as it appears that issuers are generally informed of inquiries in real-time these days, so the strategy is significantly less powerful than it used to be, but may still have application for convenience and planning purposes in grouping inquiries and new credit lines clustered around a particular date.

What is the best sign on bonus + 0% for new purchases card? I have some furniture to buy which would met the minimum requirements and I'd rather pay it off in 12 months or more than to take it from savings?

for those of you interested in travel, there are hundreds of thousands of frequent flyer miles and bonus points to be had through AOR/credit card churning. You can read more about it here

in the past 12-13 months I accumulated just over 2 million points that i conservatively estimate at $20000 worth of travel. that's a bit better than I was doing in the AOR heyday.. but of course these points can only (mostly) be spent on travel whereas the good old days we could make tens of thousands of "cash"

This is really helpful. Thank you for posting.

Since I don't fly, I am only interested in cards that you can convert to gift cards, such as Wal Mart OR free statement credit? What's the best ones out there? I have mine and my husband's prefect credit to work with. We both already have the Citi Thank You (that paid back $500), the Chase Freedom (that paid back $300)and we have various other old cards. I still have the Chase Ink (that paid $500)but we are almost done fulfilling the Cit Thank You and I need another one or two to get some cash or gift cards.

Check the "what credit card should I get?" sticky. Just about every card can be converted into gift cards, except some hotel cards.

The folks who really make a killing on cha$back and rewards cards have generally figured out a way to "churn". Essentially a way to "spend" money in such a manner that they are able to convert most of that spending back into cash to "spend" again. Rinse, repeat and you can get some real rewards.

Question: Will AAdvantage point or United Mileage points ever got cancelled (gone to 0) after cancelling AA Citi card or Chase/Citi United Air credit card? In another words, will the balance of AAdvantage/United_mileage_plus points stay with me after airline credit card cancellatioin?

I got burnt once with my Citi TY points. After I cancelled a Citi credit card (to avoid annual fee), all my remaining TY points are removed. Citi told me I have to redeemed them before credit card cancellatioin.

Never apply aireline credit card mainly due to this concern.

Sorry if this is not the right place for posting this question. I have done some search but could not find the answer. Plan to apply AA Citi and United citi/chase if I can keep the mileages. Thanks in advance.

rated:

Your points in the airline programs do not disappear once you cancel the airline cards.

Rob

rated:

At least wait 8months before closing the card or call and negotiate the annual fee when it is due

Thank you both for your help, robertw477 & snugglening.

Finished my 1st air mileage App-or-Rama and here is the result:

Chase United MileagePlus Explorer Card 65k (really 50+5k with 1st purchase & adding authorized user)
AA Citi Visa 50k at 3k spend in 4months
AA Cit AMEX 45k at 2.5k spend in 4months

Now waiting for the cards to arrive.
