Citibank has a new promo code F1G7 that was advertised in today's paper for the Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards card.
Highlights are
2 points per dollar on everything for 12 months. 0% APR on ballance transfers until 8/1/07 with no balance transfer fees 10,000 Thank you bonus points after first purchase
I'd use my other 5% card for groceries, Drugstore purchases and gas and use this one for everything else.
Seems like a straight 2% card for one year. Max spend is $37,500 for the year which will net you $750.
thanks for sharing...I would jump on it if it was 0% on purchases........second thought...I think I am going to apply for this one in my AOR in august...with a little mbna billpay and duct tape...this can work....

Thanks OP. However, after entering the code it doesn't say anything about 2 points per dollar for a year. Am I missing something?

Why won't you guys go for fidelity 529 card? It is straight 2% for ever. And yeah 10% penalty is only on earnings on rewards and not on the the rewards.

Thank you EvanM for the scan. Yea I was considering that 529 card too. I have no children to send to college, but I guess that doesnt matter? I wasnt sure if there were restriction with 529 accounts that would be a disadvantage. So far I havent been able to find any, not have I been able to find a rule about restrictons for collge tuiition only.

This still gets 5% on the grocer, drug and gas categories, I think.
Edit: Nevermind, I was thinking that 5-point rewards were permanent with Diamond Preferred. Whoops. Not sure if this is a great deal or not now.

I'd be careful with that thought. I don't see where it says that.

And then we can register the card at the Google Checkout & get another 1,000 points.

I have been reading about it and I found there are no restrictions. There is a whole discussion on that thread too.

Yea this motivated me to apply for the 529 card instead. I opened an account, now im waiting to see if im approved for card...
2% Thank You Points can be worth more than straight 2% cash backs because of the killer Thank You point-to-ticket value redemption rate for flights, particularly the international ones. So if you fly, this deal is for you. If you don't, stick to the 529 card.
micecali said: anyone get instant approve? yes. I applied 3 citi cards yesterday. and got instant approves for both this one and Citi Dividend AMEX Card.. but no instant approve for the citi PremierPass, which comes with $100 GC. Don't want to call CSR, pretty sure she/he will throw 2 new cards every 6 monthes excuse.. I just wonder does anyone here get >2 instant approves on new citi card apps in the same day..is there really programmed limit in that online approve system?
I know there is no limitation for number of citi cards you could have.. but total CL limitation.
My FICO score is around 750 and curently having only one citi card.
I got
"Your application has been received, but further processing is required at this time. We will contact you within 30 days via U.S. mail regarding our decision. If approved, be sure to visit citicards.com to register for free online services. Thank you for requesting a CitiŽ Diamond PreferredŽ Rewards Card!"
I got the response saying the decision will come by mail too. Usually how long does the mail take? I need to know that soon BC my 0%APR is expiring early next month. I need another year of 0%APR to cover this up

I had instant approval--$9000 credit limit, but am unsure if I got the 2%. I'll have to call when I get the card.

It is my understanding that Citi allows for 2 apps within 60 days, and will not budge on this (except perhaps for partnered cards.) If what I've read here and on other forums is correct, you will be denied the 3rd card, and they won't reconsider.
EDIT: Please update if you do actually get the 3rd card...

Did anyone ask for a blank check for the 0%APR BT?
I wonder if they allow you to do that when apply over the phone.

How soon after the account opening does the first purchase have to be made in order to get the 10K TY pts? Is it within 3 months? I can't read that part of the scan since the type is so small. Thank you!

They're pretty fast with posting the bonus thank you points. i got my 10,000 points for my Diamond Preferred AMEX right after the first statement.
got my card approved after citibank called me to verify some stuff. said my income was too low, i had stated 40k, i had 3 other citibank cards. so in the end, i didn't get new credit, just reallocated the cl from my other accounts that totalled about 15k or so. i have never been late w/ any payment have one acct that's sitting on 1.99% for life.
