No sure about the "no fee" The page you link says "0.0% balance transfer Fee for the first 6 months". 0% Fee makes no sense, probably a typo and should be 0.0% APY. The link to the terms and conditions on the same page has BT fee of 3% $5 min. doesn't say anything about a max, so probably uncapped.

I considered the possibilty that it may be a typo, but I figure worst case scenario, I'll argue with them and fax them a copy of the page (might work). |

Why did you apply in that order? Is there some advantage to the application order? |

BTW,
not sure if this will help people doing app o rama's when you apply for Citi credit cards (personal) they might approve upto 2 cards w/ in a 60 day period and some of the cards ex. no preset spending limit only 1 w/ in a 60 day period. |

I didn't follow that order precisely, but in general applied first for those cards I was most interested in receiving (such as discover 0% for life, Citi cards, etc). My logic was that the later in my spree I applied for a card, the more likely they would see my report already littered with inquiries and reject my app. |

Inquiries so far, for those who are interested:

Despite being the very first card I applied for, discover waited a day to pull my report (actually would be a good strategy for issuers wanting to counter and detect an app-o-rama). Crapital One lived up to its reputation by pulling all three of my reports twice.
BTW, just looked it up, NCBK-NCCS is National City and I'm guessing BRCLYSBANKDE is Juniper.
As seems typical for me, TransUnion was hit hardest with 16 inquiries so far. |

Which state you applied from? CC issuers pull them based on the state. |

Update: immediately following all of the new apps, requested a CLI online from Chase. The form asked me to put in an amount and I randomly chose $24k. Said I'd receive a response in 24-48 hours. Result: APPROVED for full $24k (wish I'd requested more!). I hope they still approve me for new cards as well, or that will have backfired. |

Let us know if you have any problems reallocating that $24K to new cards. That could make a good strategy...take a hard credit hit for a large CLI and then reallocate to a new 0% card. |

Update:
received email indicating I was approved for MTVu card. Called to reallocate new Citi lines to Driver's Edge, as 0% for life offer is expiring very soon. CSR was able to locate the new dividend card, but couldn't find a MTVu card. She also mentioned that I had recently closed my Associates card. I informed her that that was incorrect and asked her to reopen it. She tried to, but then informed me that it was closed in order to open a new account, so the request to reopen was denied.
I'm not happy that they did this without my consent, as this was my oldest open account. Still, at least she said it showed to her as "closed by consumer".
P.S. OP updated.
P.P.S. Just called the application check #, found out the MTVu was approved for $3600 - so it sounds like they basically converted the Associates card. Oh well, I guess 5% on restaurants is worth it. |

they have a max of 30K, I had asked for 50K on their online application and it gae me a message back stating the maximum credit line is 30K. I didn't get approved for 30K either, they sent me a counteroffer of a lower credit line, which I took |

Whoops, thought I was approved for PenFed but I guess not yet. They have requested income documentation; will update later once I decide if it is worth the effort. |

Go for it. I assume the only thing that can happen is to get approval for a smaller CL. |

They have already pulled your credit i would guess so what do you have to lose? |

I came under AMEX Financial Review back in '04 (see this thread). It seems like my strategy worked properly - closing the accounts before they closed them for me seems to have helped me avoid an "AMEX blacklist" if such a thing exists. Just thought I'd mention it here since I can't update the old thread. I may still try to reopen those old cards but I doubt that'll work, since it's been almost 2 years since they were closed. |

Called MBNA and received an additional $5k after talking to a rep, bringing me to $24k total exposure with them. He also suggested that I reallocate lines as necessary to take advantage of different promos. I was surprised to hear him actually recommend this strategy, since you'd think MBNA would discourage "gaming the system". |
