The citi ez checking account deals are a pain.

Congratulations ! Sounds like you made a great achievement !

I had no idea it was so hard for some people to read a few posts on such a short thread. Are you just learning to read ?

Anakin

PS: I don't think anybody here offered you any support.

You tell the guy to search for his answer, and then when he finds the answer on his own you insult him? <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border=0>

Bob, I didn't mean to be insulting to him, just clearly disapproving of the messages he had written earlier (saying he didn't have time to read a thread of just 2 or 3 pages).

I thought that would be necessary for me (or someone) to do this to train the newbie user into the FWF set-up: now he and other newbies who see this exchange will probably get into the habit of reading a bit before jumping into asking questions...

As a result, FWF will be more valuable for all of us, including them.

Would you say I did wrong ?

they are? and here I thought I had just been watching them dump money into my account w/o me lifting a finger. Oh wait... they are.

My experience with this one certainly has been, and I don't even know if they will get everything taken care of in time for me to qualify for the bonus - in which case all of this garbage will have been for nothing.

EZ checking is simple, you can avoid the monthly fee by maintaining a direct deposit, OR if you have an average balance for the month of $1,500 or more between the checking, savings, and CD added together OR if you pay any 2 bills @ citibankonline.com for the monthly statement period. The personal banker's competancy depends on whether you get the $200 or not. On the last page they must make sure that they enter the code MVR4/movers on the source of client. If they forgot to enter the code you just have to return to the bank and complain.

Guys, any new code since this one is expired. Thanks!

dead now. expired.

Perhaps MVR5? If Citi decides to continue: when I talked to the CSR about closing my acct (open for 4 yrs, never got any bonus) and opening a new one with a code he did not sound too happy, claiming that the promotionn is targetting folks with CCs but without checking accts, etc.,etc.; anyway, it was Aug 30, and he persuaded me that it was likely they would not be able to close the accts within 1 day "well enough" so that I could get a bonus after opening a new one. Thus, I am also interested in their new promotion...

Umm I already tried that code, MVR5...6...7..lol...none of it works. Maybe I need to call them up and see what offer they have now

I called them; no offers similar to this one at the moment.

Turns out I was not able to get an account because they claimed they couldn't verify my identity

They said they couldnt proceed without a home phone bill and a credit card bill. Well thats fine and dandy if you're living 10 years ago and actually have a landline (I use cellular) and thats even dandier if you've decided to waste paper by still receiving paper statements. Completely antiquated methods of checking ones identity (plus EASILY forged).

Qualified for both $100 bonuses or a while now. Send e-mail thru thier online system to ask about bonuses "twice" no response. Called and was transfered to several people CSR -> account manager -> specialist. "What is the account number?" "What is the promotion code?" "Did you open the account over the internet?" (Its only valid opened at branch or via phone. Got the feeling they were trying to just get me to drop it. Not happening I was surfing FW while waiting for the CSRs start an investigation) "Can I put you on hold while I get another person I the line?"

Wash rinse repeat for each person transfed to until I was given a tracking number while they "investigate" for 5 days. Wait 5 business days nothing. Repeat everything all over again. New tacking code, specialist says wait 5 days...oh no wait 30 days for an account promotion.

Not impressed with Citi.

1 of my friend just run into this same problem. he opened a new cc card w/ citi using his cell #. He's been using the card for a bout 2 weeks ...and then citi decided to put a fraud alert on his cc this past fri. he called and they said they need to verify his address w/ his bank. b/c of the holiday, he could not do it till tue.

I ran into the same problem. What's even worse is that although I do have a landline it is under my bf's name and they didn't want to accept a credit card bill, it had to be a utility bill (which is in my name luckily but the utility company has a relatively different address on file due to some bizarre glitch in their system) - I get both bills online only, but they did say I could print them out and use those. In the end they did have to accept the cc bill because of the address variance, and oddly enough it was my Citibank cc statement that they accepted. On top of that, they had already mailed my welcome package, debit card, and pin even though they were "questioning" my identity.

Almost a month later and they still have yet to pull the initial deposit from my other checking account. I've never had anyone else take any longer than a week to pull their money for opening deposit.

I'm not looking forward to trying to get the bonus after all of this -- I hope that I don't have to fight for it, but so far it doesn't look good.

Hey everyone,

I am very pleased to announce that I received a $200 credit to my account, titled as "Authorized Transfer Movers Offer Citibank." After seeing those who were "scammed" out of their bonus from the MVR3 promotion, I started to get skeptical of this MVR4 promotion. But here is the timeline of my progress:

June 8, 2006 Account Open with balance of $1600
June 8, 2006 Transfered balance to E-Savings
June 16, 2006 Transfer to linked Citi Card as payment
July 8, 2006 Called opening branch to inquire about promotion
told to wait 90 days after first transfer ($100 bonus) and
to wait 120 days after account open ($100 bonus)
August 8, 2006 Inquird again, told same information as July 8.
Sepember 9, 2006 I notice a credit to my account in a lump sum amount of $200 as
"Authorized Transfer Movers Offer Citibank"

I originally opened my account at a B&M as a The Citibank Account, per my banker's suggestion (said it was free for 1 year). I immediately converted the account to an EZ Checking as soon as I arrived home and realized there were no benefits from that account, and I just wanted to make sure the account qualified for the promo. So in all, it took pretty much exactly 90 days to recieve my bonus. I have always maintained a balance of greater than $1500 in my combined accounts, and had at least 1 transfer to my linked credit card per month. Also, I did set up at least 2 bill payments per month. Now, I did the bill pay because, well, I needed to. But secondly, because I saw it suggested in the MVR3 thread to ensure that you meet every requirement possible. Oh, I also have a reoccuring direct deposit from my job 2 times a month. Now, I cannot say this contributed to my bonus, but from my personal banker, she said on July 8 and August 8 that I fully qualified for the promo with just the transfer to linked card and the fact that I opened the EZ Checking Account.

I hope everyone else who participated in the MVR4 promotion receives their bonus soon!
<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border=0>

I just want to note that I researched the MVR3 thread prior to opening the account. So during my account opening process, I just asked the banker to make sure she inputs everything correctly. So before she even started gathering my information, she gave the Citibank internal customer service a call to verity the promotion and to verify that she was going to enter the "movers and shakers" code in the correct screen (the last screen). Afterwards, we proceeded with the smooth account open and 90 days later, I received the bonus <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border=0>

When I set this account up, the guy opened a "day-to-day" savings account. He said it was part of the EZ-Checking package and had to be done. I've since added the E-Savings account. Would closing the day-to-day account put the MVR4 promotion in jeopardy? It says it has a $500 minimum but I think if I keep $1500 in E Savings, I'll avoid a fee for not having $500 in day-to-day. I'd like to close it, but I don't want to give them any ammo to deny the $200.

keens:

None of the Checking accounts require that addition of a savings account as a requirement to open. I would go ahead and close that "day to day" savings account, as there is no requirement for you to maintain such an account. Also, while you are on the phone/at the bank doing that, I would confirm that your checking account is currently an EZ Checking at the least. Good luck with it! Just curious, how long ago did you open your account and what date did you initiate your first transfer to your linked CC?

I am planning to open Everything Count Account. Please post any offer code that works with "Citibank Everything Count Account".

Thanks a lot in advance.....

citi sucks

im not getting my promo and lost a month of interest for 5k.
i called and emailed and no one ever knows what is going on. i tried to open and fund a 5k 6-month cd, and a checking/savings account but it never got done. after three e-mails and at least 3 phone calls, i found out yesterday that my app is expired (it takes 30 days to expire) and if i want the accounts, i will have to re-apply. mvr4 is expired so i wont get it and another hard pull will occur. they actually told me to stop emailing them too, telling me that there is a delay and i should wait until 09/22/06 before calling agian. the thing is, i applied on 08/23, not knowing it will expire in 30 days, so 09/22 was actually the expiration date. i dont understand why they told me to wait until that date. they also cant tell me why there was a delay in my app. i had received a check card and a packet containing my account numbers for all three accounts so i thought everything was ok. this is stupid =\\

Sounds like you didn't fund it properly, how did you send the funds?

i gave the csr my checking account number and amounts i wanted transferred to my new accounts, when i first opened the accounts.

Same case here too.

I had opened a CD. At the time of opening the CD, I expressed a doubt whether citibank would ever be able to withdraw funds from my Ingdirect to fund the CD and the rep who opened the CD for me told that there should not be any problem. I gave them the Routing number and Account number of ING Acct. After 3 weeks, I got a mail saying that they had some problem. The most strange thing is that though citibank usually waits for 30 days before closing the account, they have closed my CD in 18 days. When I asked the Direct Banking Service Rep. all these things, he was making fun by saying: Send another check and we will return that too as the account is already closed. I have been in US for many years and I had accounts in a few banks. No other Bank people have behaved like this.

So guys, be very cautious when opening the CD. Only a check book holding would be eligible for funding the CD.

Thanksop

Sounds right. It seems to me that they do initial account funding by creating a paper check (I see it in my check images). So unless the account accepts paper checks, it will get rejected.

I dont think that was the problem with mines because the account I gave them was my WaMu checking and I have checks from that account. The CSR even told me the check numbers he was using that would debit from my checking account.

Also, I don't understand why they would tell me to wait until 09/22 and then I find out thats the date my application expires. Makes no sense to me. It seems like they had some kind of problem and instead of trying to fix it, they told me to wait until my application was expired so that I can apply again.

Pretty sure the issue was with ING...they don't like external sources yanking funds from them. You can only push out from the ING side I believe and not 'pull' from them.

I opened a regular checking in late June using the promo code. am still waiting for my first $100.

but i forgot to link it to my citi cc. is it too late to do so?

You can always try and find out, it will take 90 days so add it ASAP

JohnYeWest said: [Q]You can always try and find out, it will take 90 days so add it ASAP

Thanks. Keep my fingers crossed.

I have both EZchechking and Paypal, but how do I do a direct deposit? I can withdraw my paypal money into my EZchecking account, but it is shown as "authorized transfer Paypal veryfybank", is this direct deposit?

thanks

Thanks. Keep my fingers crossed.

I got $25 for linking my checking acct to CC. But wouldn't it be $100?

It says "AUTHORIZED TRANSFER
CITIBANK ON- LINE CREDIT"

Update: They told me the $25 is not related to the $200 promotion.

Anyone get their credit yet?

still waiting here..

i got my first $100 a few days ago. the second $100 is supposed to appear in about 30 days...

Anakin

I have an issue and I'd like opinions on te best way to handle this.

I posted this in the old thread but apparently noone is looking at it now.

I did this deal back in april and got my 200 after a call to complain and "investigate".

I also got my gf to do this at that time. Well, she didn't stay on top of it like I did.

She opened her account in April.

Her account got automatically closed in Sept because it went negative necause of the inactivity fees and she didn't know it until the first of Nov here.

She never got her 200 dollar credit.

Well, we called in, and they said nothing has or will go against her credit, and that if she pays the roughly 30 bucks in fees back, that they will reopen the account.

She said they had to reopen the account in orderto begin to investigate the fact that she never got her credit and they couldn't do anything before reopening the account.

Well, the thing is, if there is no way she'll get her credit because the account was closed out, then their is no need in paying those fees. They can shove em.

However, my position is/will be that we met ALL the terms for the credit. They had the entire months of May, June, July, Aug, and part of Sept (when the account was closed) to make those credits. Well, over 4 months is at least 120 days which was the max number of days before we were to get the credit.

We should not HAVE to go monitor things to ensure the credits were made and had they been made the accounts would not have gone negative, nor would they have been cancelled.

Do you guys think I can win with this argument? I'm fully willing to contact the BBB or whatever is necessary, I just don't wanna send em 30 dollars now, with no chance of winning.

PLEASE share your opinions and any information on this matter.

115 days here and no credit at all. Citibanks lagging it sick like.

Help please!!!

I used MVR$ to open an the EZ checking on 31 August 2006. I did it at a financial center and the CSR enter the code (pulled it from the system). Novemeber 30 made 90 days, so i called Citi. they set up an investigation. They send me a letter asking me to provide documentations and they will go ahead and provide the credits. How do i handle it? i never received a flier or something. Help please.

Oh man... are we gonna get this $200 or what?

I had citibank try to back out of giving me another deal -- 10% CashBack on hotels & dining over the summer. I probably called/emailed them 10 times to get it resolved. The supervisor was quite rude about it, but she did post the credit as promised, and I even think I got a little more than I should have <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border=0> The amount came to about $135.

Send a bank mail message asking if you have met the terms for the promotion, they should respond and a credit should appear.

They replied to my message saying I do not qualify because I did not fund my account with $1500. On OP's scanned offer, it doesn't say anything about this. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

alleni said: [Q]They replied to my message saying I do not qualify because I did not fund my account with $1500. On OP's scanned offer, it doesn't say anything about this. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Not sure if they made that a condition after the fact, but I was originally intending to use this account as a primary so for a period of time it would have had $1,500+. Probably need to hear from someone who did not fund with much.
