I posted this in the old thread but apparently noone is looking at it now.

I did this deal back in april and got my 200 after a call to complain and "investigate".

I also got my gf to do this at that time. Well, she didn't stay on top of it like I did.

She opened her account in April.

Her account got automatically closed in Sept because it went negative necause of the inactivity fees and she didn't know it until the first of Nov here.

She never got her 200 dollar credit.

Well, we called in, and they said nothing has or will go against her credit, and that if she pays the roughly 30 bucks in fees back, that they will reopen the account.

She said they had to reopen the account in orderto begin to investigate the fact that she never got her credit and they couldn't do anything before reopening the account.

Well, the thing is, if there is no way she'll get her credit because the account was closed out, then their is no need in paying those fees. They can shove em.

However, my position is/will be that we met ALL the terms for the credit. They had the entire months of May, June, July, Aug, and part of Sept (when the account was closed) to make those credits. Well, over 4 months is at least 120 days which was the max number of days before we were to get the credit.

We should not HAVE to go monitor things to ensure the credits were made and had they been made the accounts would not have gone negative, nor would they have been cancelled.

Do you guys think I can win with this argument? I'm fully willing to contact the BBB or whatever is necessary, I just don't wanna send em 30 dollars now, with no chance of winning.

PLEASE share your opinions and any information on this matter.

I'm not aware of any "inactivity fees" on ez checking that start showing up in just four months of inactivity. Please provide more details about how much was charged per month. I think you should be able to dispute those fees and get them removed.

I used MVR$ to open an the EZ checking on 31 August 2006. I did it at a financial center and the CSR enter the code (pulled it from the system). Novemeber 30 made 90 days, so i called Citi. they set up an investigation. They send me a letter asking me to provide documentations and they will go ahead and provide the credits. How do i handle it? i never received a flier or something. Help please.

I don't think they expect you to hang on to a flier for three months. For "documentation" just send them copies of your bank statements so far showing date the account was opened, and promo terms fulfilled (payment to linked citi card etc). Also enclose a signed statement that you opened it at financial center (mention exact address) on what date and using what promo code (MVR4 ?). Clearly mention the promo terms on that letter. They can easily verify the terms using their own internal records on the MVR4 promo; they do not need to wait for a flier from you. Then mention what promo requirements you have fulfilled and what deposits from them you are waiting for.

I have not had to do this "documentation" thing myself, so I cannot guarantee this will work. But I think this is a reasonable approach and worth a try.

Respond back with a message listing the terms of the MVR4 promo as noted on the flier scanned in the OP, and then add a comment to draw attention to the fact that maintaining min bal $1500 is not part of the terms. Mention the promo terms you have fulfilled (like payment to linked citi card etc).

Thanks, I'll do that.

Received $200 credit from the Citibank With the title "deposit".

Opened the account in the end of August '06. Waited until December for the credit and called up citibank and raised an investigation as I did not receive the credit by then. The CSR said the investigation generally takes a month or so. Exactly 1 month after I raised the investigation, the credit appeared.

Good luck guys!!
thanksop

Open the account on 8/28/2006 at branch with code MVR4, still did not receive the $200 credit.
Do I need go to branch to investigate or just use online messenger?

I used MVR4 and did not get my $200 credit either, it's already going on 4 months now. I called and spoke to a CSR that says they will investigate why I did not get the credit. My fingers are crossed.

I did not get it. I messaged them through CitiBank Online. They said I had to go to the financial center. I called the CSR. They said I had to go to the financial center. I go to the financial center. They say they are not familiar with the promo. I show a print-out of the screen where the guy inputted MVR4 (which I requested because I knew some BS like this was going to happen). They say they'll open an investigation and I'll receive a letter in the mail within a week.

That was a month ago. I'm not sure what to try now.

I think you should call the Citi Direct Banking @ 1-800-745-1534 and raise an investigation about the promotional credit. Inform the CSR that you had fulfilled everything for the credit and still not gotten the credit in your account. The investigation would generally take 30 days. If you had followed everything as per the terms, they should definitely give the amount at the end of 30 days.

Seems like, they are not crediting unless an investigation has been raised.

thanksop.

The CSR at the branches may not know specifically about what each promotion is, but just let them know that you opened it with the "movers and shakers promo" and that might be more clear to them than saying "I signed up for the MVR3/4 promo." As previously mentioned, just raise the investigation with Citi directly and you should see your results. Good luck everyone.

Finally got my $200 credit.. I called them one month ago to open the claim.

Took about 6 months to get the MVR3 promo credit, done through multiple emails. First they told me to wait some more, then they told me I wasn't eligible, then they finally credited $200 but told me that going forward only one acount opening promotion will be allowed, so those of you who are getting MVR3/4 promos may not be eligible for future Citi bank account opening promos.

this is nothing new from the wording of the new 200 dollar promotions. they make it clear only one promotion for new citibank banking clients only.

Yes, there is a difference.

The MVR4 promo states, "One offer per customer. Offer not valid for existing Citibank checking customers."

The newer and current MGCH promo is more restrictive: "Offer only available for first-time Citibank checking/deposit account customers, and is valid only once for any individual."

I'm in a fight with them now for my $200 on the MVR4 promo. Their stance is because I obtained a previous promo, I am not qualified. I did obtain a previous promo bonus, but I had closed that account and therefore was not an "existing customer" at the time I signed up for MVR4.

Finally got my $200 today. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border=0> I had 2 Citi "investigations" that ended with them denying my bonus, so I filed with BBB and the Office of the Comptoller of the Currency. Not sure what got them to relent, but my guess it was the OCC complaint.
