They are making two small deposits into my other MMChecking, and when I see them in the register, I'm to go to CapOne On-Line Banking and notify them, at which time they will make the request for funds that I authorized.

WIKI said only check or wire transfer allowed. I think what I did was an ACH, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
Did you have to call them to do this, or was it available online?

FYI, you updated the Quick Summary, the Wiki feature is a little different, took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about.

ACH wasn't an option for the initial deposit when I signed up for an account through their website last week. My only options were to mail a check or do a wire transfer. Did you have to talk to a CSR to do that?

They've totally changed their website since last week.

When I inquired about changing my current Capital One MM account to a CostCo MM Account I was told I had to send a check or wire funds to open a new account - ACH transfer was not an option. This was after their site was updated.

Looks like you can ACH with the CostCo MM account after it's opened, but you can't Open the CostCo MM account with an ACH transfer.

My account history is missing. Is this the case with anyone else?

I just applied for the new Costco Capital One Money Market account. I was able to do the initial funding with an online transfer. I have never used Capital One before. But, so far, I like what I've seen. The application process was smooth and it gave me the option of mailing in a check or doing an online transfer from a non-Capital One account.

I'm waiting on the verification process to complete. It said they will make two small deposits into my checking account that I must confirm.

FYI. It says that if you fund it with a brokerage account there will be a small deposit and a small withdraw.

Also note that it says that you cannot move any funds out of the account until they have received the signed signature card, which they will send in 5-7 business days as part of the welcome package. But, you can move funds in before then.

I think it just changed last week. I opened Costco MMA last year. The rep told me I could send check or wire transfer only.

ACH external transfers are allowed now. I just tried it.
- Transfer request on 9/17
- My external account deducted 9/19
- Costco MMA shows the trasnaction posted on 9/20 but still in pending status.

Just an update, my attempted ACH deposit from another MM (what I think is an ACH...can someone inform me if this is right) failed because I messed up the account # when entering it on the website.

They followed with an email that asked I send a check. That is done.

I will update once I get the account open and linked up with Checking.

Thanks...and appreciate the advice.

ACH for opening CostCo MM at Capital One is a go. I was told by CS Rep it would take a check or wire, but after applying on-line I was given the ACH transfer choice.

Weird thing, it would not let me transfer from an existing Capital One MM account - it would let me do all the steps but then fail at the end. I ended up funding with an external account, just waiting on the two small deposits to verify.

Now that the account is open (but not yet funded), I tried again to transfer from my existing Capital One MM account to this new CostCo MM account - worked this time without a problem.

So long 4.8%, hello 5.14%.

Interest always posted last day of the month on my account but I got a statement today showing interest posted on 9/14. Guess it must be when they changed things last week

Capital One doesn't allow any international wire transfers, incoming or outgoing! Period.

I bought a Costco membership, signed up for the account and went through the whole process only to find this out weeks later. This is a deal breaker for me. I need to accept international wires and I've never heard of a bank that refuses to accept them.

Err... I think you're wrong there. Capital One DOES ALLOW international wire transfers. Incoming or Outgoing! A relative of mine recently SENT an international wire transfer...

I just called back again to verify with them (Capital One Direct 888-810-4013). They said Capital One Direct accounts don't allow any incoming or outgoing wire transfers, not for any amount, and not from any other countries. No exceptions. And they never have as far as the rep knows. This is for Capital One Direct accounts (including the Coscto MMA), he wasn't sure about other types of Capital One accounts.

Capital One is not the bank it used to be prior to the website change:

in the olden days - when they made a trial deposit they used to withdraw it too
now - they only do the deposits (first clue that they had crossed over to the dark side)

in the olden days - when you pulled money into it, it would earn interest immediately (same day or next day)
now - it takes about 4 to 5 days to show up

in the olden days - you could set up a tranfer in 3 clicks
now - takes 15 to 20 (too many useless screens)

in the olden days - it was a good bank
now - it is a clone of HSBC and has nothing to offer over HSBC.

BTW: I sent a "secure message" asking their schedule for paying/posting interest. I got interest paid on 9/14 and 9/30, but when I went online today (10/16) there was no further interest posted. Scott1961, you're probably right that the 9/14 interest payment was just because of the change to their setup. I'll post again if/when I get an answer from them.

Scott1961, you guessed it. The 2 interest payments in September were due to the change. They will be paying interest on the last business day of the month.

Doglar, I wholeheartly agree with your assessment. They changed dramatically and although the new User Interface is beautiful there's little to keep my business there in the future.

The new lag between withdrawals and deposits seems even longer than HSBC's, even though I'm guessing it's identical...it's almost unnerving.
