To update I talked to CITI about my canceled? dividend card. I called just to confirmhow many dollars in rewards were lost as an aid in deciding whether to go to trouble of arguing with them and proving I had large assets and was a reasonable risk (which I suspect I could have done). Representative claimed in spite of letter that the accunt was merely suspended and claimed he could reinstate it (which I had done). I made a small $1.02 charge to a bill to try to confirm that the card (already cut up) was actually reinstated. This representative claimed their rule was no activity in last five months produced this action (probably after a credit check since their letter stated which bureau had been contacted). Assuming it is really reactivated I will put one Cable bill on automatic payment to accumulated rewards and keep it active. Others may want to consider some such action to keep their unused cards active (especially if there are reward dollar already earned). Meanwhile, it pays to request any checks owed to you from them (except where there is spending not yet credited and you risk being left with a few dollars in rewards you can not receive). This representative confirms my Verizon bill (for TV, internet, and phone) will not earn rewards at 2%, but at 1%. |

Effective Oct 13, my Citi Dividend Select card will only have 2% on gas/grocery/pharmacy.Got the same letter today I also got the dreaded letter for my Citi Dividend AMEX down to 2%(effective Oct 13th) which I applied for September 2006. Think we might be one of the last batches to get converted, if not the last. Just did my last gas fillup on this card it looks like, may have to grab a few giftcards at drugstores/grocery ;p Still no letter here yet for the Chase Cash Plus Rewards card luckily. I've had that one since April 2006.

I currently have the Citi Driver's Edge, but stopped using it after I redeemed for car repairs. I am now thinking of converting to the current Citi Dividend card (not for the rewards - I already receive 5% Cash Back on EDP), just to see if they will offer me any more incentives to use it (it's my oldest card). I hear people get offered 5% on everything for 90 days, or other stuff. Is this a good idea? I'm going to leave the card open for sure. |

Anybody encountered error message when redeeming the dividend check online? Our card rec'd the 10/13 went to 2% letter. The card is an active card up till that with over $90 dividend dollars in the account. After statement closed on 10/18, the final total of dividend dollars is $101.21. I dont know when Citi revamped its website as now the account summary page is very user unfriendly... Anyway, this morning when we went in to redeem the dividend check online, we received the following error message, despite on the summary page it clearly shows the $101.21 available. <<We are unable to process your request at this time. Either your total accumulated Cash Back rebate balance does not qualify for a check, or your request cannot be completed online. If you have any questions, please call the Cash Back Redemption Line at 1-866-676-4672.>> I sent 2 separate secured emails to Citi. Will update if I ever got a reply. I much prefer to redeem online than call - online is very automatic, no human error possible and check arrives in 7 to 10 days. Citi has Indian call center now it truly sucks. UPDATE: The person answered the email inquiry simply processed the redemption - now in the reward activity the 101.21 is shown as negative in current month. Tech supports offered no explanation what caused the error message, other than confirmed the account did have the balance for redemption. Duh! |

Yes, the new citi revamp shows less information than it did before, requiring many clicks to get to the information that used to be available upon login. |

However, I am not sure if you still get 2% if you enroll in the Verizon one bill program. I would think if you pay for Verizon Wireless separately, that payment may be coded as wireless instead of utility. Someone who has Verizon wireless may be able to verify that.
I generally pay my T-Mobile bills with Hilton Honors to take advantage of the 5%.
Hope it helps.
Update, I recently moved and had to switch to AT&T for my landline. Now I am only getting 1% for my payment to AT&T. I am not sure if Verizon has been downgraded to 1% or just AT&T.
I'll probably switch from Citi to Chase Freedom for most of my bills... |

Tech supports offered no explanation what caused the error message, other than confirmed the account did have the balance for redemption. Duh! I had the same problem yesterday. When I called, the CSR told me that customers had been expressing "security concerns" that "anyone" could request a check and steal their rebates. Didn't make sense to me since they make the check out to you and send to your address on file, but that's what she said. The online request option has been permanently disabled, according to her. |

I have the Citi Dividend Platinum Select card. I believe I get the 2% off of utilities. Can someone tell me what all is included in 'utilities"? Thanks. |

Chase proved willing to convert one of their older cards to the Freedom Dynamic Rewards. Since it yields 3% on your three highest categories varius categories including utilities, phone, cable (and we also got a traditional Freedom Rewards for groceries etc), there appears little reason to use the Dividend (except to bring the rewards up to the $50 needed for the next check, or occasional use to keep it active). |

The Chase Freedom card does have a monthly cap on it, so a second similar card is useful if you typically charge more than the cap amount every month. You mentioned having a second card for groceries, but if others don't have that card, the Dividend card could be used instead. |

A few weeks ago I received a replacement card for the Dividend which was close to expiration date. Called to activate, the CSR tried to make me bite on a credit protector type service. I said no, b/c I don't use the card anymore, since the rewards level is crappy. He mentioned he was able to see on my account a 4% CashBack level, which I didn't know about. I asked for a mailer to be sent, and of course I received nothing since then. But the guy seemed pretty sure that I might start the hard usage on this card, due to the nice rewards level. Oh Gosh. Did he think I still believed in Santa? |

I haven't used my Citibank card for more than a year and I don't even know if I get 5% back. I don't recall getting a letter that I am not getting 5% back. Does anybody know how to check? Thanks. |

I converted my AA Bronze (used it only to keep my AA miles from expiring, but no longer need it) into Diamond Rewards via Retentions and got 5 TYP per dollar EDS for the first 12 months offer. |

To check, make a small purchase and look at your statement. I don't trust the CSRs. |
