I did a quick search and couldn't find an answer. Does anyone know if we consolidate BofA and MBNA credit lines? Thanks in advance.

B of A / MBNA Merger Outcomes:

- Access to most of the former MBNA cards has been migrated to B of A's website.
- Those not migrated seem to be cobrand cards, like Fidelity and Schwab; these are accessed through IBS. The IBS login screen has required a change in username, password or both for some members.
- The B of A site has a direct link for CLI requests in the summary for each card account. The system states that no hard inquiry will be pulled (EDIT: these links have been removed).
- Reallocations are available across any card appearing on either the B of A site or the IBS site.
- The BillPay feature can be accessed through either site, although the B of A accounts only appear when accessed through B of A; the IBS accounts only appear when accessed through IBS.

Generally speaking, you have a much better chance (near 100%) of getting a legacy MBNA rep by calling 800-421-2110. Maybe it's just this persons opinion but they seem to be more knowledgeable than the BAC reps.

I think late Oct when they merge them we will be able to, but AFAIK, not right now.

Posters on another forum are claiming that October 23 is the target date for completion of the merger and all associated systems. It is not clear, however, whether the current Bank of America policy (consolidation only) or MBNA policy (consolidation and/or reallocation) will govern.

What would be the difference?

If the first alternative will prevail, we'll need to change this thread's title to "MBNA credit card consolation"

the merged outfit is being called "FIA Card Services NA". Any idea what "FIA" stands for ?

my MBNA Freedom credit card expired this month. I just received a new BofA card to replace the MBNA card.

I just got a letter yesterday saying my BofA Power Rewards card was going to become a WorldPoints card effective October 23. Not sure if I will keep that card or switch to a different ex-MBNA card.

Not having seen this thread first, I called to convert my Plat Priorty Visa to World Points Visa and they told me I wouldn't be able to until October. I asked him to be more specific and got Oct 1 as a date. He said you could apply for it now, but couldn't convert until Oct 1.

I had both MBNA Platinum Plus Visa and MBNA Platinum Plus Mastercard. They sent me replacements for both recently, but only the Visa one became Bank of America and Mastercard one still says MBNA on it.

Credit analyst @ MBNA told me that MBNA's policies will govern after the merge. I mentioned this in my app-o-rama thread.

I might also add that after a conversation with a credit analyst, if, for example, a customer has a personal income (NOT household income) of $75,000 and if said person has combined credit lines at both bofa and mbna of $100,000 and that particular customer calls to combine his accounts into 1 $100,000 card, MBNA's systems will not allow this.

Indeed the protocol is to advise the customer that if he wants to go ahead and consolidate to a single card, than that card shall not exceed his personal stated income and therefore a credit line decrease will issued. If you keep them separate, than the Household income rule will apply.

Secondly, the analyst said that no decision has been passed down to him yet about consolidating lines into a single card where the limit would be in excess of $100,000.

Aargh!

MBNA and Bank One (formerly First USA and a few other banks, now Chase but actually being run by the Bank One people--my sister works at Chase and she knows...) are two of the worst credit card providers out there.

I have had a Bank of America credit card for about 7 years, and it has had a 9.9% maximum interest rate all that time and no annual fee.....

And now I have to worry about these MBNA people wrecking it?

I can't stand it.

Have an MBNA Platinum Plus Mastercard and MBNA AMEX, both World Points, 9.99 APR both. Had the Mastercard since 1996 and recently called to lower my APR from 13.99 to 9.99. They offered to lower the APRs and provide an AMEX also (as I wanted the AMEX flexibility on net purchases). When I spoke with the rep it was my understanding that the merger would not affect my APR at all. Is this incorrect? They also cut the annual fee. I dont think they would reinstate an annual fee if you are a good customer. Though I would not put it past them as it is an option in the contract, I believe.

I just got the BofA new cardholder policy. It states that the merger will go into effect Oct 19, 2006 and the credit card will now be issued and managed by FIA Card Services, N.A.

Must be getting closer now...when you're logged into BofA, you can now access your MBNA acct through the link on BofAs site without having to login again once get to the MBNA site. Before, it'd pop open a new windown and you'd have to login again. Now they're linked. Inside BofA, looks something like:

View your Bank of America American Express or MBNA credit cards (New)
If you have a Bank of America American Express Card or an MBNA credit card, access your account information here.
