I got my invite as well - I've seen postings about a limitied number of invites for the "most active customers" - but that's more like one of those - "win a pool party for you and 100 of your closest friends" - all will get access, I'm sure. |

When you click on the link, it asks for your routing and account numbers (to confirm that the sender got it right and that you are the intended recepient).Did I ever say ING fan boys like you shouldn't use this account? NoI'm not a fanboy and I have almost no money in there. But I keep it around because Presidential still counts my ING deposits as direct deposit |

Did not see it posted yet, and not a great deal, BUT for those who still have money in ing orange savings, went up to 4.50% was 4.30%. |

Same here, guess I'll wait 'till February. Perhaps they'll run some referral promos by then just like they do with the savings accounts. |

Why is interest on the checking going to be up to 5.3%???
That means higher interest on checking than savings for some people with lots of money in checking. You wouldn't even need the ING savings account if you kept a high amount of cash in them. |

You will need a balance level of $100,000 plus to get the 5.3% you won't get it at low balance levels...just the 3% |

Still, I bet there are people with $50k plus in Ing Savings, and they would earn more money moving it from there at 4.5% to the checking at 5.05%.
It's pretty bizarre. |

I was curious to see if I got the invite so I tried to log onto my account but could not since I forgot the 2 security questions. Had not used account in awhile and only had $30 in it. So I called CSR to get into my account and CSR informed me I was invited. Was surprised I was but guess because I have had ING since they first started and use to keep large amounts with them they offered it. I plan on opening on Monday and learned something else from her. I thought my minor child was a beneficiary on the account but she said it is considered a joint account so I could have up to $200k in FDIC. Thought banks did not allow joint with minors? I am happy to go back to ING, other than the rate they are a great bank
"Introducing Electric Orange! With a great rate, free ATM access at over 32,000 locations nationwide and free online payments, it's the checking account you'd expect from ING DIRECT. Learn more." |

This new Electric Orange (i like the name...lol) is very nice, especially with all the free access at atms through the allpoint network..makes a nice package with their savings account. I always liked ING...other then that they have not been keeping competitive with the rates on the Orange Savings, it's an outstanding web bank..... |

Does anyone know if the ACH transfers on this account are faster than the standard speed for ING savings?
It seems appropriate that a checking account should have faster transfers. |

It seems appropriate that a checking account should have faster transfers. I doubt it, The CSR I talked to tried to get me to open up account today but I told her I did not want my funding money disappearing over the weekend with their 3 day transfers. She agreed with me that it would be best to wait till Monday. I think I will open today with just a small amount then transfer over the rest Monday |

With a routing number and account number (these are "real" checks, right?) shouldn't it be trivial to do lightning fast (same day, no interest lost) transfers from the likes of GMAC, et al?
Has ING stated that they will block external ACH pushes into/pulls out of ING?
I've done pushes from GMAC into E-Loan and I've lost 0 days of interest. Perhaps ING has a different policy for calculating interst but at most I would think it would be one day (i.e. comes in on Monday and Tuesday starts earning interst). Because it was a "push" into ING the funds are guaranteed, if I understand ACH correctly unlike a ING pull into checking which they would have no idea if the funds are really there in the other account. |

Not sure how things will work once account is opened but the CSR did say the normal "3 business days for the funding to show up". I don't want them pulling funds tomorrow then disappearing until next Wednesday |

A little something to know before opening. I just started the opening process with a small amount and noticed they give you a overdraft line of credit, That made think they will do a hard pull so I read their terms and conditions and saw they will
Initial Deposit: From: Overdraft Line of Credit: This helps cover you if your balance ever goes below $0.00. By applying for Electric Orange, you're asking us to establish this Overdraft Line of Credit for you.
From their terms and conditions CREDIT REPORTS – You agree that in connection with your application for EO and the OLOC, the Bank may obtain credit information about you from one or more credit reporting agencies. You also agree that the Bank can obtain follow-up credit reports on you in connection with the maintenance, review or collection of your EO and/or OLOC. |
