Has anyone done this and do you know if you'll lose any existing points you currently have on the card?
the csr i spoke to said any existing points would transfer over to the new card - |

With that, Chase Perfect card had really no use. I have enough Citi/Chase accounts to cover me in the 5% purchases throughout the year, which looks like it may coming to an end. For me, I may be switching one of my 3 Chase cards to the new Freedom card to be used just for fast food.Did you get the notice from Citi awhile ago saying that they're changing the terms of their Dividend Platinum card? The 5% rebate on gas and groceries is going away and being replaced by something else (2%, I think), and to make it seem like not such a bad deal, they're adding a few store categories (I think fast food). I'm actually looking at this thread because I'm looking for something to replace my Citi Dividend Card. I have a card that gives me 1.25% back on everything, and was using the Citi card only for gas and groceries. At 2%, it's a lot less worthwhile for me to use separate cards. So if I can find someone else that'll give me more back on gas and groceries, I'll use their card instead.
(I don't recall the effective date on Citi's reduced benefits, but I think I have the notice somewhere on my desk) |

Best bet is to go to the thread on here about Chase Rewards Plus and use the link for it if it still works....and see if you can sneak in for a last shot at 5% Rewards..... Can't guarantee it will remain as such...but unlike Citi, Chase did "grandfather us"...whether they will eventually change it is anyone's guess.....If the link no longer works, your best bet would be the new Chase Freedom Card....not as good as Rewards Plus, but better then what Citi is going to give you now.... |

Does a supermarket count as a grocery store for the purposes of Chase's rebate? ---------------- You'll earn 3% Cash Back for every $1 in eligible Gas, Groceries, and Quick Service Restaurant purchases; you'll earn 1% Cash Back in purchases everywhere else.
Redeem your points for gift certificates, hotel stays, car rentals, travel on most airlines with no blackout dates, or merchandise. Choose a reward for as few as 1,000 points.
Reach $50 in rewards and redeem for a $50 check. Or, save up to $200 in rewards and redeem for $250 Cash Back!
When you reach $600 in spending in these categories in a billing cycle, you will only earn the 1% Cash Back for each $100 on these categories of net purchases.
0% introductory APR for 12 months. No annual fee.
No sign up bonus at this point. |

Between my wife and me, we received the notice from Citi reducing the rewards on 3 accounts. I haven't received the notice yet on one Citi account that was transferred from AT&T 2 months back. So hopefully I will have the 5% on that Citi card for a while. I also have the Chase Plus for 5%. However, seems like all the 5% cards will be gone in a few months. 3% may be the second best. |

To anyone who has converted an old card into Chase Freedom, does you're "member since" stay the same, or do they officially "close" the old account and open the new account?
I have a student card that I have had for ~3years, but the rewards are terrible. I also have a Cash Plus Visa that I opened this year. Chase doesn't have any other "great" cards available, so I'm thinking about converting my student card into the Freedom so I can at least get the 3% on "quick" restaurants, but if it will mess with my account history, it's not worth it. |

LOL -- the site was there last night, I swear. I applied for the card and got approved. And if you read some responses above you'll see a few others did too. |

yes, the Cash Plus link appears to finally be DOA...Rewards Plus still seems to work...but who knows how much longer for that...I have a feeling we will all be eventually converted to Chase Freedom....I have Rewards Plus and will miss it...but even Freedom is a better deal then what Citi is giving now... |

The Citi Dividend Reward card will reduce to the 2% Cash Back on October 13, 2006, so I am also looking for a replacement. But it looks like it will still be the best one for supermarkets, drugstores, and gas stations which is the primary use of my card. |

I did read the responses and saw that a few got approved. I also read elsewhere that some of those people who were "approved" ended up with a Chase Flexible Rewards card anyway.
If it is worth the inquiry for you then go for it. My point is I think something being advertised heavily on TV and the internet and being prominently displayed on Chase.com is going to have longer "legs" than a CC with magically disappearing links. Of course use the 5% while it is still here. I was merely pointing that when "Armageddon" happens and there isn't a single 5% card left, I'll check back to see if this card is still available for conversion. |

Otherwise I think it'd be false advertising (yes they can change T&C, but the bonus and the BT were in the ad). |

Just got my old chase card (1% flat, redeemed at every $25) converted to chase freedom. The CSR said the reward points in the old account can also be converted at certain rate. I didn't listen very carefully so I'm not sure what the conversion rate for point is. Anyway, I've just redeemed all my rewards points last month.
I have not got the cash or reward plus yet, and the link for cash plus is already dead! I didn't apply because my recent large balance on statement just reduce my FICO to around 650, and 10K 0% debt are in my another card from chase. I'm not sure if it's a good time to apply for a new one. I used to use citi dividend but now they're lowering the rebate. Guess I'll have to use the chase freedom in gas and grocery for a while... |
