I would guess that most other online banks won't really follow suit any time soon. It seems that Emigrant and HSBC are trending towards lowering their rates, especially since Emigrant lowered their CD rate recently. The fed rate hasn't moved recently and Emigrant is not pushing *NEARLY* enough mortgages out the door to actually be USING their millions and millions in deposits to their advantage.
This one looks like a winner, and the 5.5 rate looks to be premium for at least a few months. |

I opened an account, checked my credit report after I opened one, there's no hard inquiry. Maybe a real person does a hard inquiry later? Or maybe there is no hard inquiry? They will send you 2 test deposits to your linked account.
Please Note: Your initial opening deposit will be withdrawn from your linked account, even if you have not validated the two small deposits. |

They are FDIC insured:
"All deposit products offered through E-Loan will be opened through Banco Popular North America (BPNA), a New York state chartered bank insured by the FDIC that is an affiliate of E-Loan (meaning that E-Loan and BPNA are owned by the same company). Processing services are provided by BPNA. All deposits with BPNA are insured for the maximum amount allowed by law, and all balances on deposit with BPNA (whether directly or through E-Loan) would be combined for purposes of determining FDIC coverage eligibility. For more information on FDIC Insurance coverage, please visit http://www.fdic.gov." |

It's not always rate chasing, I did not take from one of my normal accounts but from an abbynormal one, WFB which has been stuck at 4.60%. Seems worth the move for almost a full percent higher |

I don't like that you can only change your linked account 4 times a year (the limitation on changes or the implication you can only have 1 at a time). Of course, if a nice bonus comes along, I'll push some would be short CD money in there. |

Did anyone catch the part of the article about Everbank? Starting next week, EverBank Financial Corp. will, for the first time, offer a three-month promotional rate of 6.01% on its money-market deposit account. Why can't Everbank, ever give a good rate for more than 3 months? |

They offer high rate promos to stimulate deposits and meet production goals, and in the hope that some % of deposits stay after the rate drops back down. |

Could you link this account to say, Emigrant Direct, or can you only link to checking accts? Also does E-Loan start giving you interest on the same day as deposit like Emigrant does? |

You can link Emigrant, It asks if the account is checking or savings. Have not seen any accounts that don't start paying interest the day the deposit shows up even though I am sure there will be a hold. AmTrustDirect started paying me interest the day I applied but did not pull funds until 2 days later, Now that seemed odd |

1. Only 1 external account allow to link all the time although you can change the linked account 4 times a year?
2. Do they have limitation on the ACH amount such as 5k of USAA? In that case, you were limited 30K/month (6 times 5k withdrawl) to transfer the money out. |
