Looks like AMEX has new Cash Back card. Not too bad. At this point they are not converting existing cards. 5% CashBack + 1% other, credited to your statemant at end of month. No waiting.

Note - it is a business card.

Is there a personal version?

Not that I can find.

AMEX sucks, that is why they only do less than 8% of all credit card transactions a year.

GO VISA!

I love my AMEX ....GO AMEX!

this would be great for the 5% on wireless services. that's $30 back/year on the $600 i spend on wireless bills.

0% APR for 1st 12 months.

Hahahaha... you should just use CASH!!!

1. Cash Rebate: Your Rebate is awarded monthly on the amount of your purchases (net of credits for purchases) made during the previous billing period, based on the following structure: You will receive a Rebate of 5% for purchases of wireless telephone services, automobile gasoline, and office supplies and equipment, in each case not purchased at warehouse clubs, superstores or supermarkets (“5% Purchase(s)”). You will receive a Rebate of 1% for all other purchases.
Important: You will receive a 5% Rebate only if the merchant submits the Charge for your 5% Purchase under the appropriate merchant code, industry code and required service or product identifier established by us with/for the merchant. For example, if a general merchandise retailer sells office supplies, and the retailer processes your Card transaction as a general merchandise charge instead of an office supply charge, you will receive a Rebate of 1%, not a Rebate of 5%.
You will not receive a Rebate for balances transferred from other accounts, purchases of American Express Travelers Cheques or American Express Gift Cheques, fees, Finance Charges, Cash Advances and similar means of accessing your Card Account. Additional terms and conditions apply.

Nice Card!!!!!!!!

I was about to jump on this until I realized it won't work on Costco gas, which is where I fill up most of the time. Nice card though otherwise.

if only they had a personal version..

Sweet! 5% off Staples! Does AMEX really check if you have a business?

Thanks for posting OP!! This looks like a nice card. I just got my Citi Professional card because of the 3% at office supply stores (Staples and Office Depot for FW deals). I guess I will have to apply for this AMEX card for the 5% for office supply and wireless services. Thanks again!!

Hello Doofus.

Is there an annual fee like most of their business cards?

The link says no annual fee for the card or any additional cards on the account you order. It also says that you can pay it in full every month, or not. So while it physically looks like one of their charge cards, it is actually a credit card.

no annual fee.

It looks pretty similar to the Advanta Business Card. As far as I can tell, the Advanta card gives you broader 5% earning potential (you get 5% Cash Back on utilities, computer equipment, and Internet in addition to gas, cell phones, and office supplies), but it limits rewards to $25 a month. This card doesn't seem to place any limits on the rewards.

I also like the advanta card a lot. What I like about the SimplyCash card is the Cash Back is credited monthly, so there is no waiting. Both are great cards.

yeah, don't apply again.
just check HERE for your application status.
in most cases, even though you got the error message, your application went through fine.

have anyone receive their card yet?

They called me on the phone about this. I told them I didn't have a business and they asked if I had any rental property. They said that would qualify. Bummer though that it doesn't give 5% at Costco.

my card was approved on the 27th but i'm still waiting for it.

nicmim said: my card was approved on the 27th but i'm still waiting for it.

Applied on 27th and got card today.

In for one! That 5% on the telephone bill will be sweet.

Is it too tough to create a hyperlink?
Good card though!

Does AMEX allow credit limits allocations between personal and business lines ?

Yes they do. You can do it through their online reallocation application

Those who got this card can you please tell if Staples, Officemax, OfficeDepot count as 5% merchants. Also are Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA and Fry's eligible for 5%.

I am trying to decide whether to apply for this card or not.

TIA

Not to thread hog BUT....Anyone bashing AMEX, just doesnt know. They are, the ONLY company you want on your side if you have to dispute anything, they have your back!!!! So if you didnt know now u know!

FTW, If you have screwed them in the past(ie Defaulted) , they are the only company that will not extend to you. The rule of 7 years is not applicable.

What percentage of gas stations take AMEX?

Can you set up an autopay from a bank so the bill is automatically paid in full each month?

YMMV. It took the whiff of legal action to get them to remove an unauthorized charge after repeatedly failing to do so on one of my accounts. </blockquote>

Skipping 86 Messages...

Has anyone tried it at the Apple Store, CDW, Newegg, BestBuy or any place like that to see if you get the 5% rebate? In a way those can be considered office supply merchants.
