Anyone has find a way to pay the MBNA card that was moved to BOFA website directly using external bank account?
My MBNA AMEX (Now BOFA AMEX) was moved to BOFA.com to combined with my BOFA saving and checking. However I don't use the saving and checking as I signed up for those account just to get the sign up bonus. The only advice from their clueless cs was to transfer the $$$ from the external bank account to the checking then pay the card from it.
Before I can pay the AMEX directly from the external bank account as it's on the mbanetaccess.com. I can still make external payment on my Schwab and Wachovia as it's on separate website.
Any insight on this?
I guess I won't be using the BOFA AMEX until they sort their mega merger website mess.
Weird I jsut checked my ex MBNA MC and I just click on the "pay now" link and it takes me to a page with two options, pay bills with b of a bill pay or pay with MBNA-branded credit card.
The second link takes me to the old checkfree system and I can pay the card from my GMAC account.
Looks like they broke something, intentional or not.
My BOA cards previously could be paid from an external account by going to "Customer Service" and selecting "Pay from another financial institution." Now, only my business card shows up as an option for this feature.

wo hooo.. an update... the second link on BillPay is finally working this morning... like previous poster said.. it brings you to the old mbanetaccess.com bill pay website.
Previously the second link always said "server is unavailable... please try again" for days.

I guess I'll have to schedule a bill pay straight from my USAA checking account - it's been a while since I had to do that.

For any cards that were MBNA/FIA that you access through mbnanetaccess.com, you have to goto www.fiacardservices.com and use your old login. This is not the same as Online Banking at BofA and you will see the exact website you had before.

I just learned BOA has a separate site myeasypayment.com where you can enter data to make payments from other banks. It appears however that you have to have the funds leave your accounts several days in advance of the due date (while the old mbna payment system would let you schedule for the due date or other preferred date, credit the payment as made that day, and then take the money from an account (usually the next day I beleive). It does not appear as sophisticated as some smaller banks offer (you have to manually enter the card number for the cardl you have to pay for instance, creating a risk of paying someone elese's card by mistake).
Most other banks provide a link to their equivalent services from within their web sites, rather than having a separate site you only learn of if you ask.
I can easily imagine someone not being able to pay the bill on the due date because they presumed they would have access to the old system (as we had been led to believe) and then BOA canceled the system on them suddenly.
You can see my long discussion of this problem in another posting.
Their preference for you using their checking is not surprizing (most firms prefer lyou do things in the way that makes them the most money), although many go out of their way to serve their customers even if it raises their own costs.
What is appalling is their failure to tell us what they were doing in advance, leaving us without access to records and scheduled payments.
It should be noted that while many of their competitors also offer checking accounts, most of them have a way to easily pay from another bank even you have an account with them.

It seems to ask too many questions - cc#, last name, last 4 digits of SSN, city... enough info for a scammer to take you to cleaners. I wanted to check it out, but stopped when I got to the second page asking all the extra info.

Same situation here. I miss that option.

I was given that site address by a BOA consumer service representative.
I tried it yesterday with a $100 (their minimum), and to my surprise the $100 credit shows to my credit card with a posting date of 11/9. Money has not left my checking account yet.
Thus the site seems real and to actually give the same speed as the old MBNA bill pay, just more hassle (all the information to be entered with a potential for error). It lacks the ease of competitos sites that pre fill your minimum payment or balance on statement and let you pick one (again reducing the risk of error), or enter your own.
If you still have concerns call BOA and ask.

Edit with added material

For regular payments that you are not in a hurry to get credited, it seems easier to use your other banks bill pay (loss of a days interest is not significant on small payments) or to use the BOA external funds transfer to send money over to BOA and then pay it. Their tight limits on the amounts you can transfer ($3,000 for me) make the latter unsuitable if you wish to make a large payment on a BOA card, which is also when you wish to keep the money in your bank accoount for as long as practical

If you still have concerns call BOA and ask. That's great news Professor Ed! I'll try it out next month.
My BofA statement date has been the 10th of the month for the past 6 months. However, this month - they closed the statement 1 day early (9th) - and also moved up my due date, which has always been the 4th or 5th of the following month, to the 29th of the current month! I'm really starting to hate this merger, as my $4k+ payment hits my account today, one day later than the new statement date.

The site seems to lack the ability to remember your data, but you can copy it from a list you have in a word processing program etc. to minimize the risk of mechanical error (one digit off on a account number, etc.).
I have not tried it on very large payments (which may happen when a zero percent BT is ready to jump to a higher interest rate, or you just sold a house or stock position) to see if it has a maximum dollar amount limit. Since there does appear a way to set up futue payments, you could set a big one up a few days before to see if there was a problem, also reducing the risk of their site going down at the last moment (post=merger, funny things happen often).
The CSRs say it will not work if you have anything more than just CC accounts with BofA. The system does allow you to get to the last payment step, but when you try to confirm the payment you get an error message to call BofA customer service, and all indications are the payment does not go through. Turns out the payment does indeed go through despite the lack of confirmation number. Great that it works, but the lack of confirmation of payment is irritating and troublesome.

My $100 test did go through, at least $100 was credited to the BOA card, and $100 debited from my bank.

As of right now however, the site is described as unavaiilable.

We'll see about this - I didn't receive any errors when making a payment this morning, and i have a checking as well as CC account... i would imagine it would work fine, ill post a reply if i hear otherwise from BOA

I discovered they will take only one payment per 24 hours (issue if you intended to pay large sum and have money in multiple accounts).
A CSR representative was able to take information over the phone.
For those using the transfer function in BOA to pay from your BOA checking account, notice that the money get credited to the credit card account as of the day of the transfer, but it does not leave you checking account to the next day. Since transfers to other deposit accounts occur same day and they provide one screen for these transfers (even with the account jumbled together in aphabetical order of nicknames), it is easy to get confused.
I paid the same card twice from checking. Seeing money still in checking I scheduled a tranfer only to see the account balance show up as negative. A CSR supposedly reversed it for me (promising no fee)/
It would be nice if they had separate windows for paying credit cards and doing deposit account transfers. If you accidentally transfer from credit card to bank account there is a cash advance fee.
By playing with nicknames I got it set up so the bank accounts are at the front of my list and the credit cards at the end. clicking on line high or low is less likely to result in an accidental transfer from credit card to bank account.
By labeling all cards Platinum (and putting a P in front of the American Express one) they all appeared together. With two spaces after Platinum for most cards, and one after for the one I expected to pay often (frequently used, while the others are inactive), I made sure this card would be at the end of the list. This makes it easy to find, and makes it less likely I will accidentally pay the wrong card.
With deposit accounts labeled main checking, main saving, my access etc. they all appear together and before the credit card accounts to be paid (which seems more natural to me).

Relevant to this post so posting the response I received from bofa:
Thank you for contacting Bank of America.
Please note that the Pay from Another Financial Institution feature is no longer offered through the Bank of America Web site.
There are several payment options available to you.
The Transfer Funds feature is available to Bank of America account holders. You may transfer from checking, savings, some line of credit accounts, and many other types of accounts to your credit card. There is no charge for this type of payment. Your payment will post by the second business day.
Our Bill Pay and e-Bills service is available free of charge. With this service, you can have electronic statements sent to you, and pay any bills to virtually any company using your checking account.
Payments are also accepted at local Bank of America banking centers.
We appreciate the opportunity to assist you online. Should you have any further inquiries, please e-mail us again.

I called BOA several times to get my bill payment issue fixed. But nobody had any clue why it wasn't working. I checked my bill payment this morning and all my old payee list came up on the BOA site . So if your's wasn't working before check it now. Looks like they finally did something and it started working.
