It may be noted the CITI home rebate card link provided above provides for six months of 6% rebates on utilities etc. so an obvious strategy is to get this card or another that is attractive and use it for purchases for first few months and earning rebates and then exercise the balance transfer option (make a note on calendar to do so).

The Driver's Edge card also has a 0% 12 month offer on it, and if it has the embedded option you may wish to get it and then use it for the one year 6% on groceries and then a balance transfer. A hidden trap on this card is that points appear to expire after a year of non-use so if you accumulate points via purchases and then don't use them (possibly waiting for matching points from driving) and then do a year long balance transfer (in which you do not make purchases to avoid having interest on these) you may lose your points.

The obvious solution is to mark you calendar and make a purchase perhaps 11 months into the balance transfer to avoid this fate.

My wife had a Driver's edge canceled for non-use (and too many inquiries on her credit report) apparently costing us a hundred dollars or so in accumulated rebates that we were planning to use, so be very careful.

Got my Home Rebate card, transferred $30K in CL from another card to it, will do a BT in March. Contemplating also getting a Driver's Edge to do it again in 12 months.
