I just wasted 20 minutes trying to get BofA to help with a simple question, which of course hopelessly stumped them. Perhaps some of you are having better luck.

I used to have ebills sent from MBNA to my bank (USAA.com). Well, USAA discontinued ebill service last month, no doubt because of the merger. So, I tried removing the MBNA payee, adding the payees under the BofA name, same account number (no problem). However, when I tried to resume ebills, I got an error message saying, Electronic billing service is already active for this account. It went on to say that if I didn't have ebill service somewhere else, I should contact the vendor (BofA).

Has anyone been able to get ebills resumed on the their former MBNA accounts? If so, what did the trick for you? TIA

I was having a devil of a time with BOA, couldn't log in, couldn't use shopsafe, etc..... then discovered that someone else in the BOA family had the same user name, but with a different password. Poor soul is going to have a fun time trying to get in now <G>.... I have them locked out.....

Set up a new user name, moved the account to that name and it has been working more or less smoothly ever since. No Shopsafe icon for the desktop which is a PIA, but it has been working and with a little bit of tweaking, I can probably deal with it....

Just to be 100% sure that nothing was going to get screwed up, I made sure that I paid the card off at least a week before the billing date..again, had to set up payment information, and then make sure that they took the money from the right account and applied it to the correct account.

One thing that I did notice, when they moved the account from MBNA to BOA, they increased my credit limit from $25,000.00 to $28,324.00...guess they like nice round numbers. Have no idea why, I haven't had a monthly bill over $6,000 in more than 2 years.

Thanks folks, that's more than BofA could tell me.

Would someone please bump this once they've seen success here? TIA

Just got off the BOA website.....:::

New and Improved e-Bills.
With new express setup, it's easier than ever to receive e-Bills online and set up e-Bill payments-just one click for many billers. More than 300 major companies -- utilities, retailers, and others -- can send you free electronic versions of your paper bills through Online Banking. We can also send you email alerts when your new e-Bills arrive. E-Bills contain the same account information as shown on your paper statement and are saved online for 6 months, so you can see the bills you've already paid and print them out at any time. For added convenience, many billers give you the option to stop receiving your paper bills altogether which helps reduce the risk of mail fraud and identity theft. Select the Bill Pay & e-Bills tab to start enjoying the new and improved e-Bills today.

Dave, with checkfree-based e-bills, there is usually up to a 2-day lag between removing a Payee, and having it "released" so that you can add it on another billpay system. If you've removed it on USAA as MBNA, it should eventually be released, however you will not be able to re-add it as BOA currently, as BOA hasn't managed to get their e-bills set up correctly for most ex-MBNA. I'd give them a good 6 months before you can expect these snags to be worked out.
