Does anyone know if I could request an increase of CL and still get the promotion APR? Why not? In fact, you got the card recently, you may get a CLI granted without an additional inquiry to your credit history. How much can I go? Is it possible to increase to $20,000? |

Depends on your credit history, for the most part. My wife got a $4.4K CL, asked for a CLI to $20K, got $10K. So, if I were to guess, I'd say you're standing a chance of getting $10K+ line. Ask for $20K though. |

I have 4 BoA cards... I will have to check my records for exact limits, but I have about 70K total lines with them. Yesterday, I called and asked if ANY of my lines were ready for a CLI (hinting I wanted to do a BT)... I got a 3K jump on one card (I know one of my cards is currently on a CLI freeze). I then reallocated to a card which has a 0% BT offer.... total line on that card is now at 30,300, and I did a 15K BT (got most of the fees waived). BTW, as another UNRELATED data point: I went into BoA today, with a Barclays BT check... asked the manager how long the hold would be (12,700 check)... he said 7 to 9 days! I SAID IF THEY WOULD CALL, BARCLAYS WOULD APPROVE IT IMMEDIATELY (oops, sorry caplock), and he said he couldn't call... I reminded him I have been a customer for almost 20 years... I took it to the teller, she processed it (and thanks to me forewarning barclays), she said there are no holds and it all would be available TOMORROW! |

Or, can't you get around what the manager said by depositing it into the ATM? I know I can at Wells Fargo, but don't know if that's for all banks/atm's.

Some people have reported that "BT" or "Convienence Checks" aren't accepted properly at the ATM. Without prompting, the manager ALSO said sometimes "those checks cause problems" at the ATM. I went to the teller, because I needed to know when it would be available... I play a little risky and will actually SCHEDULE some billpays, prior to the money showing in my account, because the billpay delivery time is 2 to 4 days. |

Again, the answer to this question is dependent on your circumstances. Nothing, in principle, prevents you from clicking the CLI link again and asking for even larger CL. The worst that can happen (I think) you may get a(nother) hard inquiry, a phone call from BOA and no CLI. Also, do you think you really "deserve" more given your HHI, CLs from other creditors? If I were you, I'd wait 6 months. |

If you do an online CLI... how do you know if they will pull a hard inquiry? |

(note: they just pulled hard 9/11 for a checking account I opened with them) I am on the phone with them now trying to get all my CCs linked to my online account. I originally had 12k limit with NEA, 5k limit with PlatPlus, and 9k limit with BankAmericard. I moved everything to NEA and PlatPlus and BankAmericard have 500 limits now. I am thinking of trying to get CLIs on those two cards with the $500 limit. Think I am pushing it with them? LOL My mortgage is with BoA... if that helps anything. |

I asked the CSR at the end of the call if the online CLI was a "hard pull or soft pull". She put me on hold and said her supervisor said its a soft pull... they just quickly review the credit account to make sure it's in good standing. I requested a 20k credit line increase on one of the cards. Lets see what happens. |

I've tried shenanigans like that with BofA, it didn't work. I think they automatically evaluate your total credit exposure with them. (Unlike American Express, were this was a common tactic in the old days) |

About 6 months ago, maybe a bit longer, I asked for a credit line increase and was told that they could give me only a total of $100k between my two cards. A few weeks ago I asked for a 25k increase on my BOA Amx card and after a phone call verifying information, they approved my request, doubling my cl on that card. |

I did an online credit limit increase request through the BOA AMEX. I requested an increase to 18K from 8.5K and it states: "This request will not result in an inquiry to your credit report unless you are notified that it is required, and the decision will not have any impact on your credit history." My CLI request was approved within 24 hours. |
