DW just applied for CLI's on all 3 of her eligible BOA accounts, and 1 business MBNA card. BOA personal Worldpoints (formerly REWARDS), BOA biz credit express LOC, and one of 2 BOA biz credit cards. Requested increases $10.3K to $50K, $8K to $50K, and $25K to $50K respectively. On the MBNA biz card, requested $22.5K to $50K. Haven't pulled triple credit report until later tonight to see any hards, but she does know that there's a BOA/MBNA soft inquiry on her Experian report, so far. These are, of course, agressive increases, but you have all pointed out that they will automatically counter-offer and there should be some sort of increase in the end. We'll update you all when we find out anything else.

WOW!! I came here to post info about BoA online CLI link and saw this thread!
I had done a BoA phone CLI last month and had received 1k increase on a 5k WorldPoints Platinum card. Then yesterday night I saw that I could request CLI online again (this was off for sometime for everyone...including original BoA members). I tried my luck and put in 4k increase request and got it right away.
I see that some have ventured to leave it blank and see what it gives. I think that is a good idea unless you want to reach for a certain limit.

What service do you use? Do you get FAKOS or FICOS? How much does it cost?
I am going to get a service, but am not sure which to use. I use American Express Credit Secure. It's $11.99/mo and lets you pull all 3 credit reports each calendar day. It gives FAKOs (Experian PLUS Scores). I'm less interested in daily score monitoring. I really just want my reports, and maybe some bumpage if I'm lucky. I pull them every day.
You need an AMEX to use the service. You get a free 30-day trial, but you can't pull your report daily until the trial is over. I've heard that even if you cancel the trial and begin paying immediately, you still can't do daily pulls until the date your trial would have expired.
If you search for credit monitoring (if you haven't already), there are some threads comparing various services.

Had a limit of 19,300. Last night I requested an increase to 30,000. Logged on this morning to see the new limit of 30K in place. No hard pull as stated on their web page.
Thanks for the information Mespin. I am hoping to get one that pulls bureaus and scores (FICOS), but I may be dreaming. Most services I have found were a one-time score or were FAKOS.
I am more interested in my score than I am in a daily pull. I would be happy with a weekly/every 2 week pull and real scores.
I had a small BOA CC with a limit of like $3k (have had it for a long time), and never thought about getting an increase. Heck, I was not going to ask for an increase until I saw this post.
Anyway, I asked for $10k, and got it. Can I ask for 0% BT for life as well? LOL

However, I don't want to pull it at such high util - it's going to go down in a few days as my statement closing date nears. Then again - maybe I should be greedy. It's been more than a year since my last mbna CLI and my bofa is 6mo+ old now.I just paid down my $14.2k CL mbna card to $6.9k last night and requested a CLI to 21k. It was instantly approved! My bofa is still 100% utilized at $7.5k. Perhapd I could have asked for more, but I didn't want to be greedy, plus my mbna statement closes today, so this should actually get reported to CRAs right away, so I didn't want to risk "wait 7-10 days for decision". Awesome!

Had a $5k MBNA card with ~$1800 utilization increased to $10k (Requested $15k) Had a $10k BOA card with ~$4800 utilization increased to $15k (Requested $25k)
I was shooting for the moon with my requests. Maybe I should have waited till I paid everything down to $0.
Thanks OP. I've been looking for a CLI button on BOA since the merger.

Good: BofA increased my CL from $14,000 to $25,000!
Bad: BofA reduced my MBNA CL from $14,400 to $5,400...
Ugly: The new combined credit is now $30,400 so I effectively gained an additonal $2,000 in credit. That was painful! I have a $55k MBNA CL from before the merger and a $11k BofA CL. I wonder if asking for a CLI on the smaller card would be worth it, I'd hate to be hit with a massive CLD on my big line. Maybe I should only ask for a CLI on the larger line? Do you know if BofA will reallocate lines without a hard pull?

The Online CLI increase button is back. I just used it for my formerly MBNA card and it worked with no credit pull.
I've had my accounts open for two weeks, and did the CLI form on both my cards. Was told to wait 5-7 days - bah humbug.

So I was checking FatWallet and came across this thread.
I have a MBNA Visa Sig Card that is at 29k.
It has now moved over to BofA.
BofA gave me a card about 9 months ago and didn't check my credit so they started me out at 3.5k. I was not happy but it was free from them since I have been a customer with them, they apparently had been doing this alot lately.
Well I went online and requested 25k on this line, once I did that it said that they would make a decision in the next 24 hours, if no change then you will get a letter explaining why.
I haven't really checked back to FWF for a bit after I went and did a small AOR.
Saw this thread again and requested an online CLI for my BoA card. I'll leave my MBNA cards at bay for now and see what happens after the BoA increase goes thru in 24 hours.
Thanks agains!

I used the online link and doubled my limit from $5,000 to $10,000. I guess I should have asked for more.
Good think BoA doesn't do FR like AMEX. I couldn't believe they gave me that big of a bump.
Im going to pay down one of my bts with them before I try the CLI increases. Hopefully I get no more hards. I have too many these days > This is one of the better ways to improve credit scores because you can use the same BT offer but maintain a lower utilization. For example I have one card with them at 11K (owe 8K on a .99% offer) If I can get them to go to 15K or more the same 8K is now at 50%. BOA does offer some nice BT offers. They are aggressive.

I have 2 BOA cards with CL of 2k and 21k respectively. I asked for a 23k limit on the 2k card on Saturday and was turned down. I just called in and was told a decline letter has been mailed out.
I'll try next time.
Edited:
Someing magic is happening. I tried again after the first decline last saturday. On three other BOA cards, from 12200 to 15000, 9000 to 12000, 2000 to 5000, all approved instantly. Guest I was too greedy on the declined one.

The reason (according to the letter I received) is that I haven't had the account open for at least 9 months; so I guess I'll have to wait until December. And as far as requesting the CL increase online, I did it a couple of weeks ago for my MBNA and I did not have a problem; now that I tried to find it, it's not there anymore.
I said this a couple of weeks ago. Now the "CL increase request" link is back on my online banking. However, I decided not to request it online but on the phone. Luckily, they increased my CL from 1,500 to 5,500.

I have 5 BofA Cards. 3 of them are about 40% and 2 of them are 80% and 90%. The 3 which do not have overuse have the CLI button, but after requesting an increase on one of the 3, the button disopeard, but is still on the other 2.

Well, I decided to be the guinea pig and just attempted this (leaving that field blank). CL went from $5,800 to $7,000 with no hard pull.
Considering my mid 5 figure income and the other household income of $120,000 I entered I think I could have received more had I entered something like $10,000...but I guess we'll never know.

I think someone else reported leaving the field blank and their CLI was in 20% range as well.
I tried the increase button on my existing BofA card and a recently transfered MBNA card a month ago. I didn't get an instant decision on both. A week later I recieved 5 or 6 individual pieces of mail from BofA. Each was a denial for CLI for 1 of my cards (by 1 I mean all the letters were about only 1 card, no reference to the other card at all). The letters each said the same thing, mentioning account being opened an insufficient amount of time and information from experian. Haven't checked if there is a hard inquiry from these yet.
If there is a hard inquiry I'll be upset because I read the language to indicate that there would be no inquiry. If there are 5 or 6 hard hits on my report I'll be furious. I didn't attempt more than one CLI on each account.

Just an update on this...I used the CLI button to go from 4500 to 7k, then again the next day to 8k. I then tried a 3rd day for 10k, and was told I would have to wait 1 business day for a decision. I received a BOA letter in the mail denying the last CLI because my credit limit was at an acceptable limit given my stated income, and it listed Experian, which leads me to believe it may have been a hard pull, even though nothing during the CLI process indicated it. Oh well. I guess I just got greedy.

Was it an instant increase or did you have to wait for a review after leaving the new limit field blank?

I've been in a similar situation (getting much less than asked for on a big increase), but have been able to nickel and dime my way up by asking for $500 or $1,000 at a time, about once a week. So far, I've never been turned down on those small increases.

Got a message that decision will happen within 1 business day, logged in a few hours later and saw the new CL. Again - 20% increase if field left blank.

I tried the online CLI form last Thursday night around 11pm. I also left the requested amount blank. My existing line was 14,100 and I got the usually 5 day response.
On Friday, no change to my account. Disappointed that I did not get an increase, I was very happy that they did not do a decree (I have a 6,300 1% BT on it right now). Saturday and Sunday, no change.
At this point, I just thought nothing was going to happen. On Monday after work, I logged in to double check the date for my next statement closing (so I can schedule a payment). Lo and behold, I had a new CL. It is now at 20k even. That's a whole 42% increase! Sweet!
I did one CL increase on one of my cards BOA and they went to 30K from 22. Tried to get another card with a 14K balance raised. They gave me a hard inquiry. That really hurts me as I am in the planning stages of a App O Rama in a few months and I really did not want any hards.

BOA just lowered my credit limit to 5k from 8k. I had used the CLI button to get a bump from 4.5k originally. This was done a day after I was deferred for a BOA AMEX card I applied for. Bleh.

I had used the CLI button at BOA first time I went from 9,500 to 15,000. which happened the next day. So I wanted to try and get it up to the same limits as some of my higher limits. So I went high at 35k and hoped for counter offer of say 25k or so. (this was in the same month) They still said no hard pull. But i received a letter in the mail saying it was pulled from Experian. Damn sh1tters. So in order to get back at them I applied for one of their new checking accounts for the sign-up bonus for my pain and suffering.

BofA lets you put in your salary and other income when you request a CLI. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to combining or splitting the two? My wife and I make about 90k each. Usually on credit apps we just combine the two. Is it factored higher this way, or if it's split, or no difference?

If the CC company asks for income, it is definitely factored into the credit limit assigned to you. There is no advantage to putting in a lower income.

Understood, what I meant was if there's a difference at all if I state income as (180k salary + 0 additional) or (90k salary + 90k additional).
Also, how frequently can you request CLI's on their website? I did it last week and today and received a 20% increase (I left the requested amount blank) on both my cards both times. Is this safe?
I'm a college student and I've requested an online CL increase a couple of times before they merged and it was always denied. However, a few months later, my card would automatically have its credit limit increased. It went from $500 originally to $1000 and now is at $1500.
I requested a CLI last week, checked my credit report and found out I was hit with a hard pull even the web site said I won't get one. Damn those BOA liars.
