It seems my "available" amount rotates daily between zero and my initial deposit amount. Today it's back to zero again (but I can see my deposit when I click on details, it's just not available) I did another transfer into the acct today, and my "7 day projected amount" is the amount of my transfer (doesn't include my initial deposit) Weird. And frustrating. Even though I don't need access to it now, I hope it isn't a problem when I do need it...It happens every time. But just to your initial deposit, not any subsequent ones. It will show up again in another couple days. Not sure why, and never bothered to ask since it is a one-time occurance per account.
Actually, I have had the account now for about a month, and it continues to do this weird stuff where the net assets amount, available balance, and seven day available balance will be switching all over the place. Actually, sometimes they will switch while I'm logged in, and then switch back the next day. It's super weird and I just emailed the customer service people at etrade, to figure out what is going on. For example in the last day, my seven day projected balance as gone like this: 50 to 1000, to 75 to 1025, to 50, all without any change or deposits by me. And the net assets keeps switching back and forth between 75, and 50, even though there is definitey been 75 in there for a week.
The website sucks. |

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I made another deposit, and it showed on the "7 day balance" for a couple days, but now my 7 day balance shows zero as well as my available balance even though there are two deposits in there, 9 days and 3 days old. The funds haven't been taken out of my checking account yet for the deposit I made three business days (5 days total) ago. I'm not impressed. I hope it doesn't always take a week to transfer funds either way... (US Bank if it matters)
EDIT: I wrote to Customer Service on Friday asking about this, but no reply yet |

i have experienced what you guys were saying about numbers appearing and re-appearing...however, other then the initial deposit which had a very long hold (because it came from an "unconfirmed" account) all my transfers in and out have been in 1 business day..and transfers in have always been available at Etrade in 3 business days.... |

I guess I could deal with that... I confirmed my account the day after I signed up (small deposit method), so it's been "verified" for 8 days now, and was for 5 days before I made the 2nd deposit, hopefully things pick up a bit on the next deposit. |

But, still can't see the account when I log in. Really is taking forever, but as long as I get my $25 I'll be patient
I had the same problem, I think it was because I signed up on ETrade before I opened the account. I called them and they walked me through it. I had to go to the main page, click on "Banking" on the left side, and then slightly to the right, under "Maximize savings", there is
Just opened a new account? Set up Online Account Access
Click on "Set up onlnine..." link. Here, you will enter your acct num, soc sec num, and you will have to set up a new username and password. It sucks that I had to (and you probably will have to) change it, but once I did that, I saw my initial deposit and account.

After doing this, did you cancel your first account with no money in it? Now I have two accounts, the first seems pointless to keep... just want to make sure before canceling. |

I only had one (savings) account. I had two Etrade accounts, but only one showed a bank account on it. The other one just said "No accounts" when I logged in. I'm sure there is no harm cancelling one, or you can try and fund it with a dollar and still get the $25... When I signed up, there was no more bonus (clicking on the link showed the bonus, but when I went to sign up, it redirected me to the same page w/out bonus), but when I got my welcome packet in the mail yesterday, it had "$25 bonus" as one of the account properties. Sweet. |

I emailed customer service about why the numbers keep changing, and there response was pointless. They said look at the details page to find how much money is in the account. They completely ignored the question about why it keeps changing all over the place on the main page. Seriously, this site is screwed up. I've made about 5 deposits now, and they all do weird crap. The money reappears and disappears, and it's been well over a week since I've made some of these deposits. I'm thinking about trying Amtrust, or IGO Savings. |

I talked to the customer service rep. They told me the initial deposit will take 9 business days before it becomes available and all other deposits after that will be available according to the funds availability. I am still waiting for my funds to be available. |

I opened my ETrade Complete Savings Account about two months ago and like it alot...Their online banking website is excellent, and transfers are very fast (1 day) in or out of them, and when transferring money into them, if done before 6PM MON-FRI...you start earning interest that day, it gets moved in on the next business day, and is available in your etrade account in 3 business days...Customer service was good from my experiences with them...and you can link up a number of banks to them, if you like, very easily.... |

How about BILLpay??? Is there billpay fast? Do you schedule payments by the date the vendor receives the payment or the date you "SEND" the payment to them? When to do funds come out of the account? The day you pay someone or the date you "send" the payment? |

I have multiple accounts with them. You can use billpay from a brokerage or checking account to pay credit card bills. This savings account would be a good complement to a brokerage account. Keep money you don't need in the savings account since it has a higher interest than most of the sweep options in the brokerage account and has no minimums. |

I tried to add an external account for ACH from E*Trade and got the message "We are sorry, but we are unable to enroll any additional external accounts at this time as your account has met the lifetime enrollment limit".
I called and it turns out that they have an undocumented limit of 20. I must have added 20 accounts during my many years with E*Trade. Note that this is not a limit on how many accounts you have available to use, since I've deleted many of these accounts and only have 6 active ones. I called the CSR and after a long time on hold, they modified my login so that I could add one more external account. He did not offer any hope that they would extend this favor again.
It would have been nice if this was documented somewhere. I would have been more judicious in the use of the external transfer feature. But now I'm stuck. Thanks E*Trade, now I know what you mean by "challenge the ordinary and be extraordinary". |

I am planning to open one of these accounts very soon, and the E-Trade account looks like the best one to me in terms of features. I have one question though: when using the quick transfer, how long does it typically take to get the money into your standard bank account? I was under the impression that it's instantaneous, but some posts here lead me to believe it's same day processing only, and that's if the request is placed early enough. I'd like to be able to leave the money in the account and transfer only what I need, because when scouring the FW Hot Deals boards, you sometimes have to be real quick to grab deals, and I'd like to be able to transfer funds immediately if I need them.
Also, and I know this may be a bizarre question, but do any of these banks offer Visa/MC cards linked to these online savings accounts? Thanks for any information. |
