g10ny said: Got it in the mail. It is a regular offer, extended each year around tax time. The 4% fee killed the deal.
LOL 4% is nothing as it capped at $90. If you take out $20K even in a bad savings account you make $1K-90=$910 - 30%(taxes)=$637 profit not too bad for less than 5 mins a month in work to set up a bill payment instruction.

No monthly maintenance fee, no minimum balance, no direct deposit requiredThe first page I get has that offer, but once I get to entering my info, I get: Free with a qualifying direct deposit, otherwise $5.95 monthly service chargeIs anyone else getting this? Is there a way around this? TIA.
Edit: I don't have a BofA credit card. Maybe that's the issue.
No monthly maintenance fee, no minimum balance, no direct deposit requiredFWIW, that varies by state. Georgia and Texas are included under that quoted fee provision - I'm not sure about other states.

I didn't apply earlier but noticed the same thing when I went just now. I clicked the "chat with a BofA rep" button and had the following convo. It appears the fee is there as standard form, but the offer overrides the fee.

You: Hi David David : Hi You: I have a question regarding offer CH100CTA You: I saw that offer when logged into my BofA credit card account David : sure David : you can use that link for it You: It led to a page that said open an account, receive a $100 bonus, and had the following line: No monthly maintenance fee, no minimum balance, no direct deposit required David : yes, normally this checking needs direct deposit to make it free You: However, when attempting to open the account, there is the following: Free with a qualifying direct deposit, otherwise $5.95 monthly maintenance fee David : but with offer, it's just free David : no fees an anytime David : or anything* You: that is step 1 on the account page David : yes, tha'ts just the default page for the regular way it works David : but with the offer it forgoes this You: you are certain of this? David : yes, that's what the offer says, it's valid David : you have to understand that the application is already set, so it's not going to reflect a current offer, offers override this You: That's understandable. Was also told this offer overrides the direct deposit requirement.
They dont actually ask for a CC # but they do ask if you have other accounts with b of a.
Oh yeah, make sure to uncheck the SAVINGS account, which you prob dont want. I didnt and have to call in and have them cancel that part.
In for this one again. Unfortunately, even as an existing BoA CC & deposit account customer, I still got pulled from the Experian. Sigh. Oh well at $100 I guess it's worth it (not to mention funding it with $1000 from my 2%-CashBack CC). Thanks dustin72!

Xero, can you or somebody else explain or point me to a thread where the benefits and costs of funding a bank account with a credit card are discussed? It was my impression that this is treated as a cash advance? Thanks.

depends on the card issuer, in the lasalle deal, some people had their funding treated as purchases while others had it treated as a cash advance.

Do you think anyone on here can tell you or grantee you that you qualify? Why not call BOA and ask them. It an 800 number and it free or go onto BOA web page and hit online chat button.

$100 when you open a MyAccess Checking account online.
Will signing up for this affect access to MBNA billpay, will it default to BOA billpay via checking?

Can anyone else confirm a hard pull?
The last three times I participated in these bonus offers, BOA never pulled a hard on me. I had, and still have, checking and savings accounts with them, as well as numerous credit cards.
My BofA system does not allow me to fund new accounts from CC if I am logged in. That's why I enter personal data as if I didn't have a BofA account. Sometimes this caused a TU pull. But right now I'm disappointed because I didn't get the $50 bonus for the last student checking I opened 3 months ago. So I am not planning to apply for a while.

I don't see the offer when I sign in. I am in Georgia.
Last year's offer for MBNA credit cards holders were not restricted, as far as I can remember. But there isn't any way to ell what happens this time. My hunch is that this offer is still targeted at the former MBNA customers who are now using BofA's website to access their credit cards (now BofA). Their message is "While you're here for the card, why not adding in a checking account? We'll even add a bonus for that!"
green for you for finding the good offer, but getting bofa to actually pay this out can be tricky, as least it was for me. Be wary of fees as well, my free online checking ended up costing me 6 bucks a month as apparently I was supposed to have signed up for direct deposit. I am currently with wamu and citibank (both online) and they offer completely free checking and savings. FYI I signed up for a similar offer back in sept 06 and am still waiting for my fifty bucks after a lot of haggling on the phone. It was supposed to have been deposited into my account however apparently you need to call after 90 days and request they deposit it into your account...if you don't (according to the csr I spoke with) they will not fund their end of the promotion contract.
If you're still trying to get promotions from past sign ups or what have you, here is a number to there direct online promotion deptartment...I spoke with at least 10 different csr's before getting this number. cheers, 1-888-383-7500

will this offer work if I signup for a BofA CC today , and then use that and signup for the checking account? another thing to note is that I had a MyAccess checking account in January (got my $100), then shortly after, I closed the account.
There used to be an option for pay a BoA CC from another financial institution...the option is no longer showing on the customer service tab, but after bugging them a little, I was told this site would work too:
Have a MBNA Visa that was transferred to BoA. Logged in today and see only an offer of $50 (code CH50MA) for this myAccess checking account.
Does anyone else see this too?
I wonder what kind of offer I will get if I follow the $100 link posted here.

Would you mind to inform us which card you used to do the initial funding? Was it coded as purchase?

I tried to fund it by $1000 from Citi Dividend. But BoA only withdrew $25. Weird.

Be happy. They lost my initial deposit by credit card. They refused to investigate without copies of the front and back of the paid item. It took a dispute with Chase to get that money back, though complaints to the attorney general, comptroller of the currency, BofA CEO and customer service did manage to pry loose my bonus money despite the fact that the account 'never' funded and was closed in disgust. That's the hardest I've worked for 'free' money. Make sure to print your funding page confirmation.
Good luck guys, I do hope no one else suffers what happened to me. But I wouldn't sign up again with the BofA clownshow for $1000 with an account funded by their money.

Call bofa 1.877.838.4587 to confirm the offer code in your application file. Mine is NOT. And they simply refuse to fix it. Ask me to sign up another one.

Thanks for the reminder! I did call to confirm after applying for and making the first deposit of $25. CSR did confirm that my application was coded and should receive $100 statement credit within 50 days
Thanks for reminding me about this also. I am not familiar on how to give reps. That is why I keep forgetting to do it. I clicked on the green circle of rate a message. Was that the correct thing to do? If not, just PM me and I will correct it

guess this is over? Follow the $100 link to apply. In the first page the code CH100CTA was pre-filled. I also chose YES to "are you a BoA customer" and "credit card", click on Continue and it asks me to enter a "valid promotion code"
Edit: tried 10 times and finally went through. In the final screen it told me my application was pending approval and verification.
How do I reach their online live help? I looked at "Contact Us" and couldn't find any chat function.

I called this number yesterday to verify that my new MyAcess account was coded correctly with the promotion and the CSR verified and the code and promotion to me and said that I should be seeing a credit of $100 to my account within 50 days.
