whats the worse that can happen?

3% fee, 25% interest, no refund because it was obvious and intentional what you were doing, all accounts closed, loss of credit lines, loss of aged cards, account closed by creditor showing up on credit report?

What is the most anyone has ever funded a new account with via credit card? I did $500 on a new checking account with no problem. Should have tried $1000!

Please remove the campusedge a/c promo. The deal has expired.

Cheers!

It was a half sarcastic post, but it is possible to do, I don't know why the system allows it, but what I have done and continue to do with no problems is pay BOA cards with my Charles Schwab Visa.

Here are the details on CAMPUSCASH, $50 bonus for new CampusEdge checking.

2) You will receive your $50 credit to your new account within 60 days of opening your new CampusEdge® checking account online and enrolling in Bank of America's Online Banking. (Student checking product is MyAccessTM CampusEdge® in Washington and Idaho.) Limit one $50 incentive per customer. Offer valid only for new checking accounts. We may report the value of any premium to the IRS. You must use the offer code “campuscash” when opening your new checking account in order to qualify for this offer. Your new CampusEdge Checking account must be opened and approved and your Online Banking account opened by 12/08/2006. Your checking account application will be processed within 1 to 2 business days. You will receive an email letting you know if you are approved for your account. CampusEdge Checking account processing and the receipt of your debit card number and PIN (Personal Identification Number) can take up to a maximum of 12 business days. At that point, the customer is eligible to open an Online Banking account immediately. Offer may be withdrawn or modified at any time without notice. The $50.00 credit can only be made to your new account. This new account must be still open at this time to receive your $50.00 credit.

There is also a sweepstakes if anyone is interested:

How can there be no mention of the Power Rewards Business card? If I am not mistaken, it is currently the only uncapped non-tiered 2% all-purchase rebate card available. You'd have to be a hefty spender to reach the 2% redemption level but this is an excellent card from Bank of America for people who charge $$$ each month.

I signed up for the NEA Money Market Savings and linked it to my MYACCESS checking account....i just got my first statement online, and fortunately, for me it went smooth and i did get the proper interest rate with the 1% bonus on top of it (that you get the first 3 months).....

I did get one little surprise though...i noticed on the statement, it mentioned that beginning with the February 2007 statement cycle, there will be a $12 monthly maintenance fee on the NEA Savings Account unless you maintain a minimum monthly balance of $2500....Thinking that maybe they were talking about BOA's standard money market account, i called the NEA specialist line at BOA (the phone # you see at the NEA website)....as you know, currently, the monthly maintenance fee is waived on the NEA no matter what your balance is...

According to the CSR i spoke to...all NEA Money Markets opened prior to Sept 22nd 2006 (when MBNA merged with BOA) will remain with no min balance requirement to avoid a fee....However all NEA Money Markets opened after that date, while currently having no min balance requirement, WILL have a minimum balance requirement of $2500 per month (to avoid the fee) which is just like BOA's standard money market account....The actual interest APY will not be affected by this, however....and remain the nice high yield it is now (that's the good news)...

Has anyone else heard about this?....i would have no problem maintaining the minimum of course, but i was a bit surprised to learn of this...

Craig,

My guess is that if they will be requiring a $2500 minimum balance starting in February then this is when the previosu NEA Bank of America contract expires and a new contract will start which will convert the interest rates to non MFR Average rates like they did for Chemistry.Org, Defenders and other affinity groups. These rates still pay quite attractive yields up to 5.19% currently with 3% being the lowest yield and 4.82% offered for $2500-$10,000 in deposits. Also, why the CSR said interest rates would not be affected by the new minimum balance requirement and that previous customers would be grandfathered in, my guess is that previous customers won't have to pay the $12 monthly service fee but will only earn 3% and other customers with $2500 or more will earn anywhere from the current 4.82% APY to 5.19% APY. I could be wrong on all of this but since Bank of America delinked all of their other MBNA Money Market accounts from the MFR average except AAA and NEA, I am willing to go out on a limb and guess that these 2 groups will have their interest rates delinked from the MFR Average as well.

Also, on a side note, if you have $25,000 or more in deposits with Bank of America you can change your MyAccess Checking account to a Bank of America Advantage account and then you will avoid the minimum balance requirements on up to 2 additional savings (ie money market) and 2 checking accounts. So if the rest of my information above does not turn out to be true then this is another way to get around the maintenance fee.

@g10ny:
If I'm not mistaken, the CAMPUSCASH code is for friend referral and NOT a special code to get free money. One can get 10 bucks per referral upto a maximum of $50.
You might want to update your post.

Cheers!

Thanks Joe1690...that was very helpful.....it did come in bit from "left field" as i wasn't expecting it....i had just got this new account about a week and the statement closed out...was so happy to see the excellent rate...and then i read that part about "starting next february" business....sounds like it's going to be structured more like the AAA account...he didn't say anything about tiers changing...but who knows if he had all the info yet.....

Thanks for the info. But my friend used the same code for opening an account under the campus referral scheme! They're probably lazy enough to re-use the same code for multiple promos.

Plus, I just noticed that your promo ends tonight.

only 1 comment....it would be nice if some of these threads were easier to find rather than having to be bumped...worthy of a sticky?

You may ask for it, it will be up to the mods and Tim, but StapIes is already sponsoring FW. If we do this, it's just a step before I will change my username to BOFASUX.

Edit: or BofAmyPetPeeve or similar

I've seen it mentioned that you can chat online with BoA customer service. Where is the link for this? I've looked all over and cannot find it.
Thanks

AFAIK, it should be enough to hover around an option on the website (for instance, close to opening a new account). Usually, a new window asking if you want to chat with a BofA person will pop up.
