I requested an online CLI w/ Bofa about a week ago. They pulled EX soft. Now the interesting thing is they reported at least one of my cards EARLY, on the same day they pulled soft. This is something I found interesting, and I thought I would share it. It was only reported to EX.

Now I got denied the CLI. I requested another one 3 weeks prior, but a much higher requested amount which resulted in a phone call from BofA. Now I all got was a letter.
It said existing amount owed to creditors is sufficient!

* Introductory 0% Annual Percentage Rate (APR)† for Cash Advance Checks and Balance Transfers through your first twelve billing cycles.* (subject to a 3% transaction fee, no less than $10)

I just did this yesterday, moved about 20k from my Worldpoints card to an older BofA card to utilize the 0% convenience checks offer. I asked the CSR if this could be done online and she said the facility is not available yet.

I also called in to reallocate about 3 weeks ago, transferred 27k from MBNA Worldpoints (7 yrs old) to my only "real" BOA AMEX(7 months old) card to get a total of $31K on the AMEX. I'm going to try and get the MBNA CLI increased. One more note my reallocated AMEX card shows as a CLI increase BOA has "increased your credit limit to 31K", it appears on my account when I login and I received a letter in the mail as such. With my recent increases of about ~40K across 2 AMEX cards I'm wondering if I should request a CLI on the MBNA and ask for a real CLI on the BOA AMEX. I'll report back on what they do.

EDIT: Just read a post stating BOA counts consolidation as CLI.

Does anyone know if there is a fee for closing a BOA savings Account shortly after opening (45 days). I don't see anything listed on the website.

Well I requested a $2100-->8K CLI on my MBNA MC, online and did not get an instant increase from $2100; I got a call today from BOA and the CSR said I already had sufficient credit across my 2 BOA cc ~33.1k so they could not grant me the full increase but offered $2100-->$5k.

Another $50 MyAccess Promotion is available. Use this link, and be sure that promo code CH50MA is pre-populated.

EDIT: This appears to be a state-specific promotion. Proceed carefully.

Ummmm...This link is for the "FREECHECKING" code. I don't see anything stating $50 bonus!!

Hi Cherry30303,

It looks like this promo is only available in certain states. If I set the state to NJ, I see the $50 / CH50MA promotion. If I set the state to GA, I get the FREECHECKING promotion, as you are reporting. I've edited my post above to caution about this.

Try this link and see if it works ... it's a different promo code, but still for $50.00 ... the code is GROUP50.

Link

I live in Texas, one of the two states where you can get MyAcess with no direct deposit requirement (Georgia is the other) ... and this promo code still seems to work.

Why not use this link for $75 bonus for a MyAccess checking account?

Caveat: It is limited to new CHECKING account customers only. This won't work (according to their terms, not my personal experience) for an additional account. The other codes MAY or may not work for new account for existing checking customers.

I've seen mention that BofA's online account opening for checking and savings accounts allows funding from a credit card (treated as a purchase). Is this also true for CDs (i.e the "Risk Free CD")?

Also, have there been any recent bonuses or promotional codes for BofA CDs?

Yeah they allow funding with a credit card and it is not BOA but card issuers who determines if the transaction is counted as "Cash Advance" or Purchase. They allow you to fund min amount required to open account. For most accounts it is between $50 and $500. A couple of people thought they were smart and posted in BOA affinity thread that they put in $10K or $20K as opening balances and choose to fund with a credit card.

They reported there account was opened with $0 balance and BOA did not even bother to charge there credit card any amount. Not even the min required to open the account.

For myaccess checking they will only let you fund $50 from your credit card most savings accounts are between $100-250 and affinity MMA are $500. On the applicaiton pages it states the limit which can be funded by credit card.

Just chated a BOA person and asked because the min opening balance is $5K. The person said only Checking and Savings accounts can be funded with a credit card. Guess BOA is not stupid to let you do a $5K charge on your credit card.

Dolmar responded: Yeah they allow funding with a credit card and it is not BOA but card issuers who determines if the transaction is counted as "Cash Advance" or Purchase. Thanks for the clarification. Just chatted a BOA person and asked because the min opening balance is $5K. The person said only Checking and Savings accounts can be funded with a credit card. This was the information I was looking for.

While the spirit of Dolmar's post was the right one, I'm trying to make a few aside corrections. Namely, I have been able, in the past, to fund savings accounts with $100, and checking accounts with as much as $1K, using credit cards.

Check out Power Rewards card. I think it currently has no BT fee.

alert mods

Yeah, I thought it was no fee before but now says "Cash Advance Fees (including Convenience Checks, Balance Transfers and Overdraft Protection): 3% each transaction (min. $10)."

alert mods

Heads up to some of those who have older Bank of America CC's.I called in today to check if there's any specials on balance transfers and was offered 0% on BTs thru Feb 2008 (4% fee, max $90). The rep was also able to transfer the money to a checking account.

Just another reminder to check some of those older, rarely used cards.
