I have to say I am have been very impressed with Penfed CU since I opened a 3 year 6.25% CD APY with them.Going from Bank or America to them is like going from night to day....If this is how all CU's operate I might never go back to a bank again.
I would recommend them to anyone, never mind the amazing rate, but the customer service alone is worth it. |

I also want to share my experience w/ PenFed. I've had accounts with them since 2005 (back when 5yr 5% cd was a good deal!), these guys provide top notch service and most importantly 24x7 GOOD & FRIENDLY customer service. There have been about 3-4 times since I've opened the accounts, including a couple late night calls, all of them were handled professionally by their staff. It's as if they are actually happy working there. I couldn't believe it.
anyways, a BIG thumb-up to PenFed, regardless of their rate! (of course.. the 6.25% makes it GREAT!)

You are so right. I had occasion to call them a number of times setting up two separate transactions. Each time I called, everyone I talked to was pleasant, & always answered my questions knowledgeably, either right away, or after seeking more info, a few moments later. Their 'customer service' definitely deserves a nod compared to the misinformation you get from the 'c s' at many other institutions. Their 6.25% cd, too. |

5 month World savings CD gone replaced by 10 month CD - same rate 5.45% APY updated summary
Also checked and updated many(all?) rates at 9 month or less.
Lots of small moves up and down - like .15% or less
I am starting to see a lot of 30 month CDs...should this become a section in the summary, rather than tucked in to the "odd-term" listing? |

BANKRATE RATING INCORRECT
bankrate continues to rate Marian Miami FCU in Miami , AZ as a "5" with a safety and soundness rating of 1.
This institution has been seized and liquidated by NCUA. |

Checked most of the rates lots of small moves up and down by ~.15% or less I did not get to check every rate listed, but I did update many of the rates.
Also I corrected/moved some of the listing that were out of order(descending APY rate). |

According to BankDeals, Netbank has raised its CD rates. Terms of 1 year to 2 years have an APY of 5.40%. Longer terms have an APY of 5.35%. The minimum deposit is $1,000.
There is also a bonus ranging up to $100 for new accounts. Unfortunately, NetBank currently has a low safe and sound rating at Bankrate.com of 1 out of 5 stars (weak). |

American Bank has a 7 Month CD at 5.70%, Has an online application you can print and this usually means you can do by mail. I sent them a EM asking and will update with answer. As with some past banks specials I would not doubt they will say yes until the FW affect and then they will close to out of State American Bank |

I'd avoid NetBank at any cost. Had some bad experiences with them. their servise and attitude is not even close to a bank. |

I second that comment!
I'd stay away from NetBank....
The customer service I experienced from them was awful!
My CD expires with them soon (fortunately) |

Don't forget penfed's 6.25% rates end 1/31, better get them while they are there. Rumor mill says they go to 6.00% in feb.... Of course they might go even lower who knows... |

Found a great rate in Madison, WI and called my local bank (live 20 miles away) and the local bank matched Madison rate! Saved time and gas. Guess it pays to ask! |
