Truecredit thru Walmart overcharges?

Thanks to the wisdom of fellow FWers, I have found and used TrueCredit thru WalMart.

However, I notice that although it says you are charged 11.21, with only that item being purchased, it sub-totals to 13.70 plus tax for a total of 14.85. What is up with that?

This also happened when I my wife signed up a couple of weeks ago. I waited to see if it would also happen to me.
Anyone experience the same? I just called TC and they game me another phone number to call.
Before I do,I want to alert others ASAP and see how commonplace this billing error may be.

Anyone?

I was charged the $11.21.

same here..

I too was overcharged. Just got off the phone with truecredit. They're going to refund me the difference, but said it might happen again next month. Eh?

They said I need to talk to WalMart about it. That doesn't help much, considering the only customer service number I can find is TrueCredit's.

That's odd. I just got off the phone with them. They canceled and credited me and advised me to order through the alerts tab.
That way worked. But I will check to see if it bills correctly next month.

I'm only charged $11.21

I had the same problem, I ordered it through http://www.truecredit.com/orderOrigination?op=Scores:Right&product=CreditMonitoring&cb=WalMart

but was charged $13.70.

Order Detail Price
3-Bureau Credit Monitoring 11.21/month
Total: $13.70

I called and two of their customer service rep couldn't explain the difference to me. They were trying to convince me that the price $13.70 is still cheaper than the $14.95 on their web site. I ended up cancelling it.

What link(s) do those who are correctly charged 11.21 use ?

Same thing happened to me. I was given the number to TC "management" and they took care of it in about 5 minutes.

The same happened to me, though first manager "didn't care," second gave me $2 back but only for the first month.

Hopefully, I'll get providian card with their pfico.

They did the same but the CSR cancelled my account and re-opened it with a gift cert so that I would get the $11.21 rate w/o any other problems.

I'm having the same problem.

This may sound like a dumb question, but given that I want to subscribe just a few days before my AOR (that is tentatively scheduled for Feb 8) and want to have a reference point to report in the AOR thread(s) -- how soon do you get to see your first set of 3 FAKO scores after the subscription? Same day? Next day? There does not seem to be a clear statement about this in T&C, but I gather there may be some delay ...

The very same day, you get to see your scores.

I just received my first 'automatic payment' of TrueCredit, and it ended up coming from my bank account instead of my credit card. Is they any way to make them charge my credit card instead? I tried deleting my bank account info, but it won't let me. Any ideas?

I think if I remember right I was charged a little more the first month(like $13 or so), but have been charged the $11 and change every other month since.

Anybody have an answer to this, or is experiencing the same problem??

I called them when they "$13.70-ed" me and got them to credit back the variance. In the same phone call, I insisted on having them make sure that subsequent months would not be billed at the higher rate. The rep was thrown a bit of a curve and it took several rounds of talking for him to get what I meant, but he pulled it off. The monthly went through at the right rate a day or two ago.

I used the "upgrade to 3 in 1" link while on my free trial and it took about 3 months to get them to finally stop charging me $11.21 + $9.99. I just decided a few days ago to cancel altogether and jut today got notice of the cancellation. Lots of calls, no email communication. Next time I'm trying creditsecure thru AMEX. Trucredit pretty much always make errors in their favor, but are pretty receptive to correcting them.

I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem as well, but I called in to find out the answer:

zero out your bank account and bank routing number in the 'Your Account' tab, and then they'll pull your credit card instead.

At least, that's what the Customer Rep I talked to said, but she didn't seem to know much about what was going on.

An abridged update:

they attempted to pull my 'zeroed out' checking account, and it (obviously) wasn't successful. My account got suspended. When I called in to reinstate my account, they basically told me I needed to pay the 'current going' rate of 14.85. I'm thinking of going with another company now.

Is the 11.21 deal still alive? And how do you sign up?

TrueCredit and TransUnion both have the absolute worst Indian CSR's I've ever had to deal with. They never understand what you're saying, but what's worse is they never admit that they don't understand what you're saying, and instead of asking you to clarify, try to answer or argue with you on a completely different question than the one you're asking.

And after spending a combined 2+ hours on the phone with CSR's from both TrueCredit and TransUnion (that kept swearing that they weren't affiliated, even though TU very clearly owns TC), no one was able to figure out why TC isn't able to pull my TU credit report, even though I pulled it directly from TU using the exact same identifying information.

And you get what you pay for.

I'm getting charged $11.21 a month...no problems <shrug>

Other than today I can't update - anyone else seeing this?

Yes, today their system spits some stupid error, smth. like:

Credit Bureau(s) Cannot Validate Info
We are unable to obtain your credit report information.

I called them (800) 493-2392 and they admit it's an issue on their side. What's more disconcerting is that I already had 65 softs and my TU hards have not started to come off yet ... Anyone experiences THIS?

Ditto here. Thought it was from me being logged in to Equifax at the time. Oh well call tomorrow if it keeps up.

I don't understand.

You want the discounted (Wal Mart) price, but you also expect first-rate customer service?

Do you also buy a Honda, and expect it to ride like a BMW?

I called this morning for the cannot validate issue, long hold time and then a CSR I could hardly understand and I don't have mine thru Wal Mart and pay full price. So looks like it does not matter

I'm getting the same error report today as well. Hey, I've got better things to do than waste my time with their CSR folks. I'm sure that the problem will be rectified. If someone needs an "emergency" FICO fix, he/she can pay for it at myFICO.com........

Or how much do you charge for a quick pull?

I have the same error. Called and spoke with CSR before checking FWF, and they said it should be fixed "within 24 hours".

I have 51 softies now, and no bumpage action yet.

It took me about 75 TC pulls to see my TU inquiries start dropping off, and by 85 they were all gone.

Disregarding the dubious premise that BMWs automatically ride better than Hondas, and the dubious premise that TrueCredit is in fact a particularly inexpensive credit monitoring solution (IdentityGuard through Costco is $7.49/mo for me), your analogy is still entirely inappropriate. The closest analogy would be trying to order a Honda from a Honda dealer and having them tell me that they couldn't transmit my order information to the factory to actually get me the car that I wanted, and have the dealer tell me that it was Honda's problem and make no attempt to fix it even though I was trying to give them my money.

TrueCredit has still not been able to provide me with any sort of credit monitoring.

IdentityGuard through Costco is $7.49/mo for me

Does it offer daily pulls of all three reports?

I have True Credit 11.21/month for triple reports and it has always worked for me and my CC is always charged the right amount.

Thanks for your data points! I was expecting (based on the info I gathered at FWF) TU bumpage to begin at 40-50 (and Equifax at about 90) ... that's why I started to worry. Also, CRAs have become aware of the bumpage (as witnessed by the survey TrueCredit administered about a months ago), so I was concerned that they may be shutting it off.

Still not working so far.
