ARGH. Not letting me import last year's return that I did with TurboTax Deluxe (boxed) version. I get a message saying at "This is not a 2005 TurboTax file. Choose a different file and try again."
I know it's a legitimate turbotax file done last year. Anyone else have this problem?
EDIT: Nevermind. It didn't work using Opera, but it did with IE. Weird. It let me transfer the file and all, figure the file was corrupt, but I guess it wasn't tranfering properly with Opera.

Answered my own question. After I saved my data, it said this:
"Important: To ensure you receive your Special Offer, please come back to finish your return using the link we provided to you. "
I guess at least when you finalize, you have to go back through State Farm. I guess to play it safe, might as well come through the State Farm link any time you edit your return.

Thanks! Did you add your state farm account numbers to the system?
Once you do that, go back in a couple of hours later and you should see the link.

I'm so glad they're offering this again this year. I filed through them for '05 and it was a simple easy process with no glitches. I just now did my federal and state taxes for this year, and it was even easier since all my info from last year carried over, not to mention it can pull up your W2 information and auto-fill all that in as well. Nice feature.
Only thing is, I couldn't actually file because the IRS isn't accepting E-File's with certain deductions (ie, the sale tax one, the tuition one and one other) until Feb. 3.. I guess those just got 11th hour entensions in late December and they aren't set up for it yet. Too bad, I just wanted to get it over with..

You don't have to click through the State Farm website to re-access your info -- just click the link in the email they sent you when you registered. I filed mine yesterday free of charge by doing that.

Did it today, thanks State Farm! Free e-file for state and fed, that's about a $60 value.
1 Can I do separate returns for three different people? (me and my children)
2 I've been using Turbotax for many years. Will I be able to import my data from previous years?
3 When finished, will I be able to save my data with my turbotax files from previous years, on my computer?
Thanks

1) Not sure, haven't tried starting multiple accounts through the link. Let us know.
2) Yes. You can import info from their servers online. I would imagine from a disk as well, but haven't tried.
3) Yes. You can save all of the formatted forms as pdf's after you have completed.

Thanks, not sure you knew the answers,
Anyway, in terms of savings, I'm not referring to saving as pdf (you cant do anything with data from a pdf), but rather as a turbotax file, so that in the future I could use it with a stand alone version.

Yes, you can download your tax data as a Turbotax file for the desktop version. It seems you have to do this before you complete the filing, as past returns are only stored as pdf's.

TurboTax online >> TurboTax software works, but you won't get the free e-file.

I used TT Desktop last year. I had some trouble uploading last year's tax file to TT Online.
Turns out it didn't work using Opera, but worked fine with IE.

What a breeze. This was just as easy as if I had paid for it.
I don't know why it was moved from the FREE STUFF FORUM!

Bump. It's dirt-simple to get this for free by opening a State Farm credit card and adding access to it online at statefarm.com, btw. Free Turbotax Deluxe + free fed efile + free state efile + no rebates = winner.
Big green to the OP. I forgot about this, even though I used it last year...and the year before. I was searching these forums for the best code, and was about to do the stupid 30% off code when I found this.
Thanks for the reminder!
