I've been using TurboTax for several years for my Federal Tax, but they always want me to overpay my state tax. Be very careful if you have Treasurys, especially TIPS; TurboTax doesn't understand OID.

Does any one know from past experience if you can file state also with state farm sponsored TurboTax or is it Federal Only?

Yes, it includes one State return, as well as ItsDeductible.

Thank you OP. Thank you State Farm. I like State Farm: they just sent me a $500 rebate on my car insurance because they paid out fewer claims than expected in NJ!

Last year, for the first time, TurboTax let you file more than one state return. Its useful if you live in one state and work in another. And its all free from State Farm!

Saweeet. I've done this for two years now. I heart State Farm. Pending they don't flip on my current claim, of course

sweet! I like State Farm, they may charge a tad more than some of the more cut rate insurance companies, but they paid me more than I ever imagined on my hail damage claim on my beater car (basically, more than the car is worth), and you get a good multi line discount if you have house and car with them.

I did it for both federal & state last year. Unfortunately I've just switched to Geico & probalby have to use TaxAct for free Federal tax return this year.

I am guessing only the 1040EZ form will be free. If you need to itemize, you will probably need to pay. I am at least hoping they discount it.

No, I think that they'll offer the full 1040 form. They had the full form last year.

Great, nice find, I am used to only getting a 15% discount on the 1040 from ADP.com

Thanks, OP!
I finally signed up online (it's a bit of a pain in MI)
By "filing" - does that mean you will be able to calculate and submit your taxes free online, via an online wizard for something? Or are you only able to simply file a completed tax form online? Either way - it's still a nice value.

Exactly where is everyone signing up? The link on the front page just says check back soon. When I log in, I only see two links on the left side - "Organize your family information with Family Matters software" and "Create your own medical ID card." There is the one revolving link, but I've hit refresh a bunch of times, and I haven't seen anything about taxes, Turbotax, etc. Maybe it's just not available for OH yet.

The link on the home page is gone, and the page it used to be linked to is now 404. Does that mean the online version is now available.
If it does become available please post the direct link here.

No link that i can find that works either. I'm sure it will be back by the time we need it. Is this online only or is it downloadable? I have used Turbo Tax Deluxe for a few years now.

Don't forget that when it's working and if you are not a State Farm customer, you can still get free filing through them with a new savings account and a $100 deposit. No fees to maintain and you could just close the account and get your money back afterwards, or keep the $100 in there for use again next year.
Could also open a credit card with them and stick it in a drawer, it's not a good card unless you already have a policy or other accounts with them.

I logged onto my account and there's a link (FREE tax filing) along the left side of the page, but when you click on the link it says it's not yet available. It displays...
"File Your 2006 Income Tax for Free Coming soon for State Farm customers who are registered online and have at least one policy or account viewable online... Once again, Intuit, the creators of TurboTax, have agreed to provide you the ability to file your 2006 income tax online free of charge. Please check back after the first of the year to take advantage of this service."
My guess is that it will be ready in another 7-10 days.
BTW - This will almost certainly be the online version - not a downloadable.

Strange - the very same link was working from my statefarm account last night, and in fact displayed another link to the turbotax site with a promotion code in the URL. I went to the turbotax site and already started my return. I did log back into my statefarm account to click the link this morning and now I see what you see.

Am I able to somehow use Turbotax Deluxe software to create my return and then log in here to file it free or do you have to go through the whole online interview process online? I don't think TurboTax Deluxe software gives you any sort of filing discount since last year.
Turbo tax has Basic , Deluxe & Premier versions. Could anyone manage to find out what version stateform link is offering ?
Thanks.

Thanks. Turbotax online. At least how I understand it, they aren't giving you any software at all. Just the ability to complete and submit your taxes online.
Correct?
See my questions in the post just above.

Actually they do offer the different versions online. You can choose to use the Basic or Deluxe versions for free or the Premier for $20.

A nice element of TurboTax on-line is the fact that all of your identifying information is carried over from the preceding year. In the past I purchased software which had to be updated on-line for new tax law changes; at times, it also was glitchy during installation. The TurboTax on-line is a much more streamlined and effortless process.

Here is the fine print from Turbotax...
The free offer includes one Basic or one Deluxe federal product and up to 3 state products. An upgrade fee of $20.00 applies for the Premier federal products. Prices are determined at time of print or e-file and are subject to change without notice.

I never registered here before. I guess even non-customers can register. I just registered and then added my State Farm account, but it says it could take up to 2 days for it to be added.
I don't see any Turbotax offer. Does it only show that offer once existing State Farm accounts have been added to the registration?

I used this last year and have done as much as i can without having my paperwork yet. Seems like many people get "error 20" messages when logging in. This happens to me regularly and i just try again.

I think so. I registered simply to get this promotion. When I first got into the site, I didn't see the link either, but it appeared after I added my State Farm auto account.

My accounts got loaded and I do now see the free tax filing thing.
One other question.
Do I need to go through the state farm link each time I want to edit my return? How does it know that I'm not supposed to be charged in the end?
