I was going to setup up an account with iGObanking. Just hard trusting a website that goes down atleast once a week with your money. |

So I had applied for an account, but they wanted me to send in a check (after sending them a bank statement from my linked checking account for address verification) and I figured screw this, and I went with ING. Well they asked me again late last week for a check, and I still didnt reply.
I got an email this morning saying my account is open, crap. |

Better not open any accounts with Washington Mutual then...their website goes down every Saturday evening at midnight and doesn't come back up until sunday morning....guess you can't trust them, either |

According to customer service there is a 5 day hold placed on funds after they have been transferred. Is this common? I wanted a hub account. It is ok I guess, but really need to plan ahead - 3 day transfer and then 5 day hold.
These arent large amounts either. less than 50$ and less than $1000
I dont think they have ever offered a bonus. |

After a lengthly phone discussion with a Customer Service Rep, I finally got her to understand that their current Web implementation does not allow transactions to be downloaded into Quicken 2006 or 2007. She kept trying to convince me that QIF would work until I proved to her that they needed to sign a contract with Intuit to get OFX capability. Hopefully, we will see the "WebConnect" icon appear on the IGOBanking.com site soon. At least they are trying. GMACbank stubbornly refuses to spend the money. |

craig10x said:You can transfer up to $100,000 per day (one million per month max...lol) on a 3 day transfer....or up to $2,000 per day ($5,000 max per month) on a one day transfer...no charge for either type.....No tiers...no min balance required...excellent rate of 5.30% APY....Customer Service is good....and their online banking and transfers are dependable....
Yesterday, I asked to be set up with the transfer limits you mention, and they said flatly that those limits are only for people who have kept $100k or more in their account for 30 days or more... then you can get those increased transfer limits.
Given that, I can't really stick w/ igobanking if it means I'll have a $15k max withdrawal per day limit, $25k max withdrawal per month. It's so nice of them to let you deposit $100k a day up to $500k in any 30 day period, but not the other way around. |

eric, i guess they are trying to discourage rate chasers from the account....why would you need to transfer more then $15,000 in any one specific date? |

Imagine I have $75k in the account and decide I want to get it out for whatever reason. It'll take 2-3 months to do so, as the max you can transfer out in a rolling 30-day period is $25k.
You think that's acceptable? I don't.
Other banks with similarly high APR returns don't have such limits. |

If you have $75K there why bother? Why not open BOA AAA account which pays 5.37% APY on balances higher than $50K while still maintaining local access to your funds. No need to ACH funds in or out. Ability to write 3 checks or do 6 bill payments a month. ATM access to your funds and if you happen to bank with BOA instant transfers from this account to checking. |

I can't find anything about a "Bank of America AAA" account anywhere on their website. Is it a money market? In my experience, BOA has never been competitive with anybody on any product. |

you are right Wiley, BOA is not competitive, but they offer "affinity" accounts through other organizations (such as AAA, NEA, Humane Society, Defenders of Wildlife and about 25 to 30 others) that ARE COMPETITIVE...all you have to do is apply at the organizations website...such as the AAA link Scott gave you! You get hooked up to a BOA application through it.... |

I have not been able to get into my iGObanking account for the last 24 hours. Every time that I try to login, it delays for a minute and then I get a "Customer Verification Error". I have even changed my password by using my security questions and that has not helped. To top that off, today is President's Day so they are closed and I can't even get someone on the phone to help me find out what is going on. Just a warning to those thinking about opening an account here. I've had a few hiccups before this one, but now I'm planning to move my money into a different bank. |

Yeah, their website is taking a holiday, too.
That is something one has to tolerate (and prepare for it) for online banking. |

I don't think that is how online banking is designed to work ... IGOBanking.com is just LAME...
my $95k is gone ( 6% promo rate chasin to everbank & HSBC then to [local] Countrywide for 5.4% ...

One has to tolerate "occasional" outage for any online applications. The internet is a "best effort" service, not "assured service."
This is a general comment, not referring to iGO specifically.
BTW, I have only $11 in iGO, mainly due to its transfer limitations.
FYI: GMAC had some online problems the other day as well. |

I just signed up for an account over the weekend (Sunday to be exact) after much review of it & other online savings accounts (I just opened with $5.00, small, but for the time being, that I don't have access to it yet, I figured it was enough). Given that Monday was a holiday, I was surprised to see this morning that the 2 small deposits were made to verify my account. I was asked to mail in proof of my current address (only because I just moved a month prior). My question is, how longer after mailing out address verification (for those who had to do it) did you have access to view your account? I know that I have to wait for mail from them with account information, so over all, what would you say the start to finnish (in weeks) time would be from opening the account to getting 100% control/access to it? |

in my experience with them, about two weeks....you will probably get a welcome letter first with your account number...and the pin will be mailed next week, which you should receive the later part of next week....once you get that temp pin you will be able to get into the account....
then you will need to set up the banks you want to do external transfers with....even if you want to use the bank you did the initial deposit with, you will need to set it up again.... they will be sending the test deposits again (they use that as a security measure)....
So figure about 2 weeks to be fully up and running.... |
