they call a contracted provider and charge your card the negotiated rate. its basically just a referral service so you dont have to call 411 when youre stuck

I think SIS answered your question

I'm curious about tow fees, ect... I have had AAA for 10-years and have used it twice. I would have done better putting the $47 per year away and paying for the tow myself. Anyone have experience with what the discount service saved them? Oh, and I also get that lovely So Cal AAA magazine each month

You can get an awful lot more out of AAA than just towing service. Towing alone pays for my membership, but you can also get shopping discounts and access to certain DMV / RMV services in the AAA offices (i.e., bypass the DMV entirely). Free travel books. Travel discounts. Lots of stuff that you didn't take advantage of.

It's up to you to make good use of your membership. Then again, it's dormant subscribers like you who subsidize active members like me. So thanks.

search this forum for AAA. i get much more out of the discounts that make it worthwhile.

and with AAA plus, I can deliver a car i sell on eBay motors on a flatbed, to anyone within 100 miles for free

200 miles for Premier members

xoneinax said: [Q]200 miles for Premier membersnever heard of premier..is that new or just socal?

Not too new; at least 3 years old. Could be just a SoCal AAA option.
