Received this offer today:

- 0% Fixed APR on Purchases until August 1, 2008 when you transfer at least $100 now.
- Promotional BT APR 9.99% or Prime + 1.74% whichever is greater
- Grace period at least 25 days
- Annual fee $0
- Minimum finance charge $1
- BT fee $0 with this offer if done within first 90 days of account openings.
- also receive free FICO credit score

To Apply:

www.wamucreditcard.com
1-800-206-2277

*may be targeted. Try Reservation (removed - try your own!)

Pros
- nearly 19 months of 0% fixed on purchases
- no BT fee
- low minimum required to BT in order to receive favorable terms

Cons
- the BT rate is not fixed. However, assuming you transfer the minimum of $100, you would remain at the minimum finance charge of $1 monthly for 18 months = $18, for the privileges of having 0% money investable at 5% for 18 months. Assuming a median duration of investment of 9 months, you're looking at 3.75% - taxes as a rough approximation for your return. This will beat almost any credit card out there.

Thoughts?

NICE.

the last nice one i got was capital one with NO interest on BT's or purchases for 1 year. no fees and money back on purchases..

I could use another one of those since my time is running out for the 1 YEAR on the capital one. I have to do a balance transfer from this card to the next

It does sound like a good deal, but it's targeted. Fortunately, WaMu sends me offers non-stop, so hopefully I'll get this one soon. You might want to remove the reservation number since it pulls up your name and address to help fill in the application quicker.

Make the BT, wait until it posts, then start making purchases.

YourSofaKingdom is right, your name comes up. Change that asap.

NO. Make the BT, wait until it posts, then pay it off at once plus $1--wait until that payment posts--THEN start making purchases.

You qualify for the 0% on purchases once you transfer the $100. No reason to pay more than the single $1 finance fee for the first month on it.

Usually the Providian/WaMu cards have fairly low limits, so this won't put much money in your pocket, especially if you follow the "rule" to use no more than 50% of your credit limit on any given card...

even better: I BT'd $100 (the minimum) from a Macy's store card that I thought had a balance. Unbeknownst to me, Mrs. Psychtobe had paid it off. The BT amount was $0. yet my WAMU account shows that I did make a BT, and I have access to the 0% APR. Totally unintended... but worked out well, nonetheless. BTW, they approved for $30,000, hardly what I'd call a fairly low limit.

I took advantage of this deal. I already have a Wamu card so this will be my 2nd. 1st one was approved for 11k and this offer I got 20k. So I wouldn't say they have low limits either.

If only i can find this offer anywhere.

yea, it sucks. cause i didn't get a reservation.
i called before to ask if i could get this, instead of my dumb other wamu card with no nothing, but they said no.

so, if you don't have a special promotion code or whatever, it doesn't work.

Since the 0% APR is only for purchases, how do you get the money out? Do I have to buy a car, or I can transfer the money to Paypal or something like that?

Google checkout

I set up my account recently, but haven't played with it.

The deadline on my offer from WaMu is Feb 21. I'm calling tmo.

Its now September 1, 2008

I have this deal, applied for the card... read the terms... HOWEVER...

0% is only on Purchases... Not BT's.

The BT offer is for No Fee, but the BT rate is 9.99%, or Prime + 1.74%.

So how is this beating any other card out there other than on the Purchase Rate?

The best bet for this card is to do a minimum BT of $100 in order to get the promo rate op 0% until 2008, pay off this is full as soon as it posts, then use it for purchases.

If anyone has any other feasable ideas, feel free to voice/type em..

It also provides FICO scores.
Also, the long term 0% on APR makes it quite attractive. It can be conservatively considered as 4% CashBack for 6 months, then 2% CashBack on the following 6.

Find another deal that is offering 0% on purchases until Sep 08, I'd like to see it !

Anyone has a reservation code that they will not use? Would appreciate---please send it privately.

Got the same offer, but trashed it being put off by the 9.99% APR on the BT (I think OP needs to be updated to make it explicit). As (almost) always -- someone on FWF had a better strategy. Time for some dumpster diving -- sometimes I'm glad I don't have a shredder .

I think the code can only be used by the person it was sent out to ?

Have an HSBC 1% Cash Back card that offers 0% on Purchases & BT's until Aug 2008. Decent enough initial limit of $13,250... not as good as september 2008, but its 0% both Purch and BT's. Rec'vd offer in the mail. I do have an existing relationship with HSBC so it may be targeted.

I'm told you can sometimes negotiate a better deal by visiting a local branch. The people there appear to receive some sort of bonus or commission for each card signup so they may be more disposed toward bending over backwards for you.

I have this same offer. Anyone got any ideas (other than Google Checkout) on ways to suck as much money out of the account as soon as possible to earn interest? Buy EE bonds? Anything?

Pay your HELOC.

someone mentioned that some banks allow you to use a credit card to fund an initial deposit. Question is whether it is counted as a cash advance by WAMU.

Pay your HELOC.
Don't have a HELOC. Doubt a mortgage carrier is gonna allow you to do that anyway....

kenblakely said: alpinewhite said: Pay your HELOC.Don't have a HELOC. Doubt a mortgage carrier is gonna allow you to do that anyway....FWers do it regularly.

Actually, I think what FWers do regularly is BT money FROM their HELOC >>TO<< a 0% card, thus reducing interest charges. I'm not aware of anyone paying down a HELOC using a credit card, especially as a purchase. That suggests that the HELOC carrier is willing to pay a credit card issuer 2% or so in order to receive your payment. Not likely.

I have been spammed by WAMU every week with this offer for about 3 months. Then I received a straight up 0% BT and 0% purchase for 12 month deal (max $75 BT fee) which I jumped in.

my spouse just started getting this 0% purchase for 18 months if you do a BT now. I'm gonna wait to see if she get the 0% BT one...

1. Write a HELOC check to yourself and deposit the check into ING.
2. Tell your new CC that you want to pay off your HELOC.

Ummm...you *do* understand what we're talking about, right? This card is 0% for purchases, not BT. I can tell the CC that I wanna pay the HELOC down all I want, but that's not a purchase. Again: the HELOC carrier would have to be willing to pay the credit card issuer 2% or so in order to receive the payment. Not likely.

Oops. Sorry. The offer I received from WaMu was for BTs. I thought yours was the same.

is the WAMU FICO score a real FICO score? or a FAKO?

psychtobe said: is the WAMU FICO score a real FICO score? or a FAKO?
I believe it is FICO. They call it FICO (not just a "credit score"). It's based on Experian credit report ... In fact (I just logged on to check) it's "FICO(R)", so it's gotta be the authentic FICO score ... let the debate whether it's a "credit card" or "mortgage" score begin now ...

What has been everyone's experience as far as how long it takes for your FICO to show up?

emre1000 said: What has been everyone's experience as far as how long it takes for your FICO to show up?
Mine was there as soon as I had online access set up. It was dated 02/13 (the day I applied for the card). As far as I understand they update it once a months, but it could take as much as two billing cycles for the first update to happen.

Hey, What kind of Credit limits are they giving out? I've always seen limits under 10K given.

wearetheborg said: duna said: Anyone has a reservation code that they will not use? Would appreciate---please send it privately.

I think you're correct. When I applied for another WaMu card (with a similar invitation) -- the form had some of my info pre-populated after I entered the code.

Same here - I got the same offer PLUS a $50 bonus after the 1st purchase (I think a gift card). So of course make a small purchase and pay it off before doing a BT. 0% 12 months with a net "$25" fee and free monthly credit score, an excellent deal.

drPedro said: Find another deal that is offering 0% on purchases until Sep 08, I'd like to see it !

I used to avoid the 0% APR for purchases like the plague, only wanting to get 0% BT and cash out. But, having hit my maximum credit limit and card balances, I only qualify for very tiny credit lines of 3,000 -- and with the BT fee coming to $75.00 on most cards, I can't make enough money to profit from the transfer!

And so, I am reduced to using the cards with tiny credit limits to make everyday purchases, and once my limit is reached, I'll retire the card or apply for a credit increase and see what happens. Basically, I have all of the credit card company's BT money in the bank, and now I don't spend real money for purchases, using 0%APR cards and only to make minimum payments until the offer expires. And since my office cafeteria takes credit cards, I barely have to use an ATM machine anymore.

And, no, my spending habits remain the same, and I have more than enough cash to repay all my balances in an instant if need be.

I just hope I don't die or my estate is going to pay a huge amount of interest because the executor won't know which accounts to pay off when.

Skipping 6 Messages...

Got the offer the other day and it's now 0% till January 1, 2009. I applied and got a $30k line and transferred $100. I have been negotiating for a new spring time toy, BMW M Roadster. I called the dealer and told him I would accept his last offer if I could put $25k of it on my card, He said no at first but called back and said if i could go a bit higher on price they will go for it. So looks like my because of FW car buying draught might come to an end. At least I am using a bit of FW thinking for the purchase
