Just an update, I opened the Premium checking account last month and am still getting the 5%. I called CS yesterday and she told me that there is still no plans to change the rate at this time. I am really in this account for the unlitimited ATM rebates, since I travel quite a bit for work, so even if the account were to go back to 3%, I think it is still beneficial to me. |

And even if it does, you always have the option of converting it to the Efree Checking Account which has no min balance requirement...and pays only a tad less (2.25%) instead of the normal 3% EPremium rate (assuming they should drop the 5% rate) and you would still get the Unlimited Rebates...just no more free checks...lol
Thought you might like to know....i know about this because i've had accounts with EBank before..... |

Hi. Just opened an account with them. Got the checking number online already but can't find their ABA routing number. Anyone with an account with them, could you please post their ABA routing number? Thanks! I'd like to some test deposits from HSBC and PayPal. |

Their routing number is 061092057. When you search with the HSBC money transfer utility, it returns two numbers, but that one I just listed is the one on my checks. |

Montee, I caught the comment too about "shared deposits" and did some research on the web about that. This is a specific feature that some ATM networks, such as, STAR, NYCE, and Plus use to allow ATMs to accept deposits from another shared ATM network bank. For example I have Wachovia and their ATM card shows a Plus symbol on it. I can go to Visa's main website and do an ATM search. There is a box to check that says "Plus shared deposits" that will limit the results to ATMs that allow it. This way I could make a deposit at a Bank of America ATM that will go into my Wachovia account.
I didn't find out if there is a fee for doing so, but I presume that both banks would charge you some kind of fee, unless you have an ebank checking. |

Thanks! I will have to try this out with a personal check and see if it works and if there are any fees |

So, since this has been the "promo" rate for a few months, I decided it was time to byte myself, considering I just finished my AOR so I was up for the hard inq.
Anyways, the most amazing thing about opening this account has nothing to do with the rate - but rather the great customer service I got. I was assigned a "Personal Banker", Amy, who answers every question I can come up with that I email her, usually within 20 mins when its during banking hours, and if not, usually first thing in the morning.
Its really something amazing - I mean Wachovia lets you call the same person every time, but I swear they are always on the phone. Every other bank you are pooled with everyone else and get the first one that picks up the phone. eBank lets me email her, although not secure, but when opening an account 95% of my questions don't need to be secured, and when something secure needs to happen she calls me.
Why can't ever bank be like this? I'm sure this or better is what you get with private banking, but I've never had an experience like this with any other bank. |

I guess its more of a rhetorical question than a real question, I understand why they can pull it off.
I'm actually going to be in Atlanta in a few weeks for a convention, I am almost thinking of stopping by and saying hi. |

yeah, that's an advantage that a very small bank has...another one like that is City National Bank in Taylor Texas...1 branch..been open for 100 years (talk about longevity...lol) also, very "personal" service.....I've had some Credit Unions that were like that too (even though bigger)...too bad most CUs don't pay much interest (except on some CD specials)...
If you stop in EBank you could probably say hi to your personal banker Amy.... |

Does their billpay allow for overnight payments like First Internet Bank of Indiana? Can you schedule the date that you want the payment received by the vendor or the day the payment is sent? |

You input the date that you want the payment to be received by the biller. Overnight is allowed for electronic payments. |

They contract out their billpay to CheckFree. I do not think you can send overnight payments. I searched around for it and didn't see an option. Obviously if the biller can receive electronic payment, then it can be overnight.

Link to Bankrate's discussion on Ebank
According to this, their safe and sound rating is at the lowest.
That would explain the 5% Promotional Rate on the Checking Account. I imagine it will be dropping soon as they still claim only a 3% rate here |

Does anyone know if you end up paying a 1% forex fee when using an ebank debit card at an ATM in Western Europe? Obviously Ebank doesn't charge you anything so it depends on the network. I've read this:
You may find Visa/MC debit cards more widely accepted at ATMs than Cirrus/Plus, but you may be more likely to avoid the US Visa/MC 1% racket by using a Cirrus/Plus card without a Visa/MC logo.
And Ebank's website shows this on their ATM card page:
Find a STAR Network ATM Find a PULSE Network ATM Find a CIRRUS/MAESTRO/MASTERCARD Network ATM
Which doesn't tell me if it's a Cirrus card or a MC card.
I don't have an Ebank account yet. Does anyone who has the debit card know if it has a Visa/MC logo on it or otherwise have experience with it overseas? |
