Eh, why not.

School name: New Jersey Institute of Technology
Area of study: B.S. Computer Science
Current Age: 28
Year when graduated: 2000, SCL
First job after college: IT, Associate Analyst, in NJ
Salary offered: ~$50K
Did you negotiate?: Nope
Where are you now in your career?: IT, Team Lead (same company), in CA: ~$95K
How much money you spent when in school out of pocket for tuition etc: Total of ~$4K after scholarships, including tuition, room & board, fees, etc. for 4 years, paid for myself with on-campus jobs

Had the opportunity to go to "better" schools for $20K/year more, but based on my research, the undergrad experience for comp sci is pretty much the same whether you go to a middle-tier public school or an ivy.

Job location would be helpful as well. $45k in New York City is different than $45k in Podunk, PA.

School name: University of Delaware
Area of study: Communication
Current Age: 39
Year when graduated: '89
First job after college: Administrative Assistant for large publishing/tv firm
Salary offered (or if you are a student, how much you expect): $18,500 in NYC (I had another offer of $13K for a radio station in NJ - couldn't afford to take that)
Did you negotiate?: yes
Where are you now in your career?: Changed fields - that admin position led me to become a Director of Benefits - However, I have since left that field and became a Web Producer/Editor
Do you think School made a big difference in what you are now?: yes & no. Being a com major prepared me for the seminars I used to give when working in Benefits. Those public speaking classes and being an RA paid off!
How much money you spent when in school out of pocket for tuition etc: Parents covered tuition, I was a Resident Assistant to cover room and meal plan. Any "spending money" came from working multiple jobs as a media tech in the library, security monitor, babysitter, telemarketer, Avon rep, etc. Spent it all then as fast as I made it and haven't a clue how much it totalled.

As an aside, if I had to do it all over again, yes, there would be changes. As a kid I thought I could become a TV director with just hard work and an opportunity. Post college I learned that it takes a lot more of WHO YOU KNOW, rather than WHAT YOU KNOW. While still in my first position post college, I knew the producer for one of the programs my company produced. When she found out that we had the same schooling through the same tv program and that I had done some freelance directing, she offered me a position on her staff. However, it was at that same time I was offered a raise taking me to $27K with what I was then doing. Her offer would have only paid $13K and others were standing in line for it. Rather than following my dream, I took the "responsible" path and followed the road into the HR field
