How do we redeem the rebates? I have accumulated about $42, but there is no button to request a check unlike my citi dividends card...

You must call or if you want something other than cash, call to convert your points/credits to the ThankYou Points program. Then, go to the ThankYou Network Website to redeem.

I recently tried to submit a mileage update when I got my oil done, they replied with a snail mail letter saying I couldn't redeem for less than $25

WTF

I am wondering does this card give 6% only at the pump or over the casher also?
I guess only at the pump because my dividend card does.
anyone could confirm this for me?
Thank you.

Does any one have an idea ... the T&C state that the TYN points converted from DE will expire in 1 year! there was not mention of keeping them in based on activity etc like the other Citi cards.

alert mods
rated:

I'm not sure, but I think most people don't convert them until they are ready to use them right away. Because the DE Points don't expire like that.

I just got this card. How do I first inform them of my vehicle's mileage? What do I need to do initially to begin redeeming mileage points?

I emailed their CSR and got an off-the-wall answer, whew.

The forms are available at this site. I filled out and sent in the Drive Rebate Enrollment form, but never received any acknowledgment from them or saw anything on my statement about my beginning mileage. I guess I will find out if they got it when I file for a rebate.

If I convert a Diamond Preferred Rewards card to Driver's Edge Options / Platinum Select, do I get 6% at gas stations/etc for 12 months? The CSR said she didn't have any info. She didn't even know if I'd get 3% on the special categories.

Any real experiences will be appreciated...

[Edit] Called again, and the second CSR also said only 1% rebate on all purchases if I convert an existing card. This is contrary to my DP Rewards Card experience, which had 5% for 12 mos even though I converted to it from an existing card. Again, any actual experiences appreciated! Thanks!

Someone (maybe in the Citi retention thread?) said they were able to convert and get the promo for the first 12 months. I called a couple times and different CSRs told me the only way I could get the promo is to apply for a new card. So it's really YMMV.

I did exactly as suggested above earlier this year, Diamond Preferred to Driver's Edge and became a 'charter member' which means 2% rebates only good toward a car purchase. I'd suggest just applying for the card. If you were turned down for some reason call and see if you can get the app ok'd if you transfer the credit limit from your current card.

I also tried to convert into the 6% offer, but was told I had to apply for a new card. Instead, I got the usual 3% that can be doubled with mileage. However, the CSR saw I was eligible for a 5% Cash Back promo on gas, groceries, and drug stores for the first 6 months after conversion. That's Cash Back, as in a check at the end of 6 months, not thankyou points or DE rebates, and its on top of the 3% and mileage doubling DE rebates, he emphasized. I don't know if this promo is offered to all conversions into DE, but it never hurts to ask. Also, Walstmonky, you need to ask for the options card; they tried to spring the charter card on me too.

To simplify: 5% + 3%*2 = up to 11% for first 6 months

Thanks, it really does make a difference with these CSRs when you know the magic word(s), in this case 'options'. I'll give that a try.

EugeneV said:CoastieRob said:Just got off the phone w/ Citibank CSR. Now I'm really curious about maximizing my DE rebates. With my existing DE card I'm earning 3% on G/G/D purchases and 1% on all other purchases. Capped at $1,000 per year. CSR confirmed that in order to redeem $100 in Drive Rebates I must have earned $100 in non-Drive Rebates, as discussed here.

When I asked her about the new cards that earn 6% on G/G/D purchases she said she could not convert my existing card, but I could apply for a new account. Nothing new so far... But then she said I could enroll the SAME car in the Drive Rebates program on BOTH cards.

This is specifically prohibited in their terms. I do not know whether they enforce it, but I would not risk my rebate ($1000 currently).

Could you point out where in the terms they say this? I've looked through the DE website and pamphlet and could only find the part where they forbid enrolling more than one car per card, not more than one card per car. Thanks.

CSR converted my Citi Dividend card (which was scheduled for conversion to world points card) into DE with 6% promo on everyda spendingitems for first 12 months.

What if you share cars (with your wife)? I realize you can only register 1 car, but can we register either one?

Looks like you are right! Well, please let us know if it works...

Hey guys, newbie to the credit cards stuff here. I have a few questions.

One of the benefits of this card is rental car insurance. Does it mean that when we pay with this Citi card we will automatically be insured by Citi bank? If so, how much 100%, 90%,...of the damages? Are there any issues dealing with them in case you get into accidents?

I'm trying to save a few bucks on rental insurance money, but it is too much of a headache dealing with credit cards company, I'll probably pay it myself.

Thanks

Full terms and conditions at http://www.mastercard.com/rentandsave/. (This will load a PDF.)

No proof required to use it as everybody knows about it, so you just say your card provides insurance, and the rental agent won't charge you. There are a few vehicle type and country restrictions.

Read the terms carefully. You'll notice if you have any type of auto insurance yourself, that must cover the damage (not MC). But MC will pay your deductible. If you have no auto insurance then they cover 100% (see terms).

i didnt really see an answer to this question.. i've accumulated $$ from using my card, how do I get those $$? TY site just says i have to call to get them xfered to TY points, did the $$ get credited toward my balance and I just didn't realize it? They sure don't help you get the benefits at all. Thanks for the help

oh wait, i have to use this towards car stuff, wow this is confusing, gotta figure out how to get 2% back on a new car purchase i wanna make soon =P

Are they really going to give me $520 back just for buying a 26k car? even though i never used my card? seems weird
