Please see first post, yes, you must call them. Also, I'm assuming you are referring to buying your new car on the actual credit card. They don't give you reward money just for sending them the receipt. The purchase must be made on your card. You say you've never used your card, if you haven't, then you have $0 rewards. |

Does any know what's the difference between the DE Gold, Silver, Platinum? I called to convert my Citi Dividend Platinum, but the CSR couldn't really explain the differences. I think there's also a Charter card, but I'm not sure. |

i have a question too... Is there a minimum credit score requirement in order to be sure that the application will go through? I am planning to apply for CitiŽ Driver's EdgeŽ MasterCardŽ but i dont know if i should apply for the one for College Students (with 3% CB) or the regular one (with 6% CB for the first year). My creditscore is 730 but i have almost no credit history. I just have a $500 limit Bank of Am credit Card with a couple of statements fully paid. shall I apply for student one or regular one, if i shall apply at all? just dont wanna be declined after applying. |

I was just thinking about applying for a Driver's Edge card when I came upon this thread. I think I'll go ahead and get one. I already have a Citi Platinum MC but I don't use it much now that my Chase card gets 5% on G/G/D. |

I'm sure you'll be able to get the Driver's Edge card (regular, not student) just fine. I got the student card as my first credit card solely for the purpose of establishing my credit history. My score has dropped recently because of several hard inquiries - CitiBank [Ultimate Savings Account], Cingular [new family plan], and CitiCards [just applied for Driver's Edge] but I still expect to get approved for the latter.
You score is good now but IMO it's good to have more than one credit card. You'll pay for it in the short term with a hard inquiry (so a drop in your credit score) but it's not a big deal unless you'll be applying for an auto loan or mortgage anytime soon. |

Uh oh. I got declined for the card.
Their reasons were: - Your credit report shows too few credit references (this is true; I've had one Citi card for 20 months and one Chase card for 12 months..that's the extent of my credit history - no loans or anything)
- Your credit report shows late payments on accounts - this is NOT true. I just obtained a credit report from Equifax and as expected, there are no late payments reported.
Sigh.. That's fine. I'll just stick to my 5% Cash Back Chase card. Just FYI, my credit score is 705 due to my credit history being relatively short with several hard inquiries in the past 12 months. |

Has anyone had an inordinate number of problems getting miles submitted? I have submitted three times now, the first was rejected claiming I was trying to redeem. So was the second. The third hasn't been applied or rejected yet.
Yes, I have been using the Miles Submission form. |

Are you referring to registering miles on your vehicle when having it serviced? So that you may later redeem them? If so, I have had no trouble. I sent it in, about 7-10 days later they were reflected in my account. Although, they do not seem to notify you that it was received/processed. |

The miles should show up under "Drive Rebates Submitted" right? Mine shows a big fat 0 |

That is strange. Like I said, no issues for me. Maybe give them a call and tell them you want to fax it in or send it directly to someone's attention so it does not get overlooked. And hurry, there is a number of days they must receive it by! |

I'm trying to figure out if the DE Options card is best for me. My goal would be to maximize TY points. Not interested in car repair or rebate.
Here is a typical month of spending for my household:
$400 gas $500 groceries $200+ car rental $300 restaurants $2000 hotel (usually charge to hotel CC)
I hardly ever purchase airline tickets. So I am trying to figure out if PPE or DE Options is best. PPE is currently offering 25k bonus points. No bonus points for DE. PPE doesn't look good because I don't purchase airline tickets but I'm drawn to the 25k bonus points. How long will it take me to earn 25k points on DE card? Is my calculation correct? $900*6% = $54 month at 6% level
(I probably would hardly use it for anything but 6% stuff.)
So $54 = 5,400 points It would take me approx 5 months to get to 25k level and over a 12 month period, I would have almost 65,000 points. Does this look correct? |

Why not take advantage of both? For Premier Pass Elite, you can simply sign-up and earn the points (not sure if the 25K deal is available, but you can certainly get at least 15 K sign-up bonus). Other options for you: City Professional w/TY for another 15K bonus, City Business Premier Pass for 15K bonus, and City Business w/TY for yet another 15K bonus. The bonuses post on your Thank You Network account once the first statement closes - at least this was my experience. Your calculation is correct for Drivers Edge points. If you also drive a lot, you can double the DriversEdge points via Drive rebates, essentially earning 12% (for Drive rebate to be redeemed, you need the same number of purchase rebates). One caveat: you can earn at most $500 purchase rebates and at most $500 mile rebates per year on Drivers Edge. At the rate of $54 per month, you will get to the limit in about 9 months. Drivers Edge card statement cycle closed recently, statement showing online. Total purchases for the month: $254 (no returns). Rewards earned as follows: 1. Purchase Rebates: 2.54 (this is the base 1% on ALL purchases), 2. Bonues Rebates Earned: 15.28 (this is the bonus rebates on the rounded total of "everyday purchase categories" under the 12-month current promotion, supposedly 5% (=6% -1% already counted) ). ... N. Total New Rebates: 17.82 Noticed that 17.82 > $254 * .06, so something (positively) fishy is going on. 15.28 = 191 * 0.08, so clearly some categories are earning at 9%. Grouping of the everytday does indeed equal $191, rounded. Clearly, their rebate calculation program has a glitch. But is it a glitch, or some rebate bonus-on-bonus? This was first noted here: http://www.fatwallet.com/t/52/735805/10762417#m10762417. I was highly skeptical of that message until doing the math today. Also, buying Sams Gift Cards from WalMart Supercenter Stores counts as "Supermarket, Grocery Store" purchse, i.e. earning bonus, at whatever percent. |

Probably a glitch. I get 6% on gas, Drugstore, & groceries and only 1% on anything I buy at Super-WalMart or even at the WalMart Neighborhood Market (which is a grocery store). The program seems to have many glitches and you are one of the few who have the glitches working in their favor, rather than against them. With WalMart, the crucial thing seems to be how the specific store codes itself with the Citi card. You got lucky. |

You've already got the inquiry, so you might as well try to get the card. |

So they don't verify the initial mileage you report? I was thinking you needed a service receipt to verify the initial mileage but it seems like it is set to whatever you put on the form? I'm not trying to cheat, but it's been over a month since I received the card and I wanted to put the mileage I had when I got it. Anyone know of a problem with this? Seems odd they just trust you on this... |

No, they don't verify. At least they didn't for me. They assume you won't have a crazy number of miles in the first few months and I assume they reserve the right to ask for verification if they deem it fit, in the future. |

But they don't have to verify anything within the "first few months" at all unless I'm mistaken. Not until you make a claim... |
