I am thinking about leasing a car, fresh out of college and no experience with this at all. I was given .0013 as a money factor for the lease which equates to 3.1% is what the salesman said. Is this good if not what should I ask for?

Thanks

What kind of car? I can look up the lease rates for these cars for you and let you know if it is a good deal.

alert mods

they are going to build the interest into the price of the car to give you a 'low rate'.

Secure the best price on the car. Then talk financing. Or, save yourself a lot of money and don't buy new just out of college! Buying more car that you can afford makes you a slave to your car payment.

2007 Audi A4 sticker price is $33,600, so far I've got that down to $32,200 with no problem. How much should I try to get it down to?

Currently on A4 2.0 you should be able to get about $1,500 of MSRP but we will go with your price. i will do a 3 year lease. Tell me if it is different

MSRP $33600
Your price $32200
Residual - $18816
Money Factor should be 0.00080 (This is the current money factor going for the A4 2.0)

Payment with this would be 412.59 + tax with no money down and no additional costs.

With your money factor payment would be 438.10 + tax

I can be more exact if you let me know which engine, whether or not it is all wheel drive, lenght of lease, and miles per year allotted. Also how much down and are there any other costs?

I agree whole-heartedly with you, theman2. OP, it's your choice entirely, but you might gain some helpful insight by reading this thread from a week or two ago: What is the worst purchase you've ever made? Notice, especially towards the end, how many people cite CARS as the worst thing they've ever spent a lot of money on.

Either way, good luck to you.

mikef07: If I give you a deal can you figure it up for me? If so, here goes:

2007 Ford F-250 4x4 SD Crew Cab 172 in. WB SRW Lariat w/6.0L Power Stroke Diesel

Only option: captain's chairs

Zero down; 36 month lease. Assume cap cost of $36,500.

Thanks if you can help.

PS. For those who (mostly correctly) say that leasing is a bad deal, this is for a small business of my father's, so he'll deduct the lion's share of the lease as an ordinary business expense.

Here it is.

MSRP - 38670

Your price should be $32049 (This is how much you should pay for it)
Money Factor - .00245
Residual - 18948
3 years, 0 down, 12000 miles/yr

Payment $526 + Tax

With 15,000 miles - 536/month + tax

This car should be priced at 35049 with a 3,000 rebate from Ford

It is the 2.0T with front wheel drive and a 6 speed. I am going to put either $2500 or $3000 down. The lease I want is 3 years at 15,000. How should I go about getting the money factor down to .00080?

Tell them this is the money factor you want. You know they can get this from a source, tell them. The only thing where they may get you on that my number (money factor) is from Jan 20 and it is possible the money factor changed on Feb 1. Worst case scenario it is $20 more. That money factor is pretty good.

With $3000 down your payment is 326.86 (.0008 factor) or $350.87 (.0013 factor)

Mike,

How are you able to price different deals. Do you work for a car dealer or have some inside information?

uncc23 said:I am going to put either $2500 or $3000 down. The lease I want ...Never, never, never, put money down on a lease. Let's say you lease this nice new Audi tomorrow then on Sunday some drunk who is driving home from a SuperBowl party plows into it parked on the street and totals it. What do you have? A totaled car. Now you're out $2,500 + first month payment and your lease ends since the car was totaled. Gee, would you pay $2,500+ to rent that car for one day? Okay ... so it probably wouldn't happen in one day ... how about one week ... two weeks ... even one month?

I know a guy who can get me the numbers. These numbers are no secret.

And Beckles is right. I would never put money down on a lease.

I'm thinking about buying a 2007 Nissan Murano SL AWD. The MSRP is $ 37,000 with options and the invoice price is $34,500 with options. I have not negotiated anything yet.

Please let me know what is a good lease payment for a 12K mileage and 4 year lease. Like you said no downpayment.

Thanks Mike in advance for your help.

alert mods

$501 + tax a month. $37,000 Nissan you should be able to get for around $34,000. Murano suffers from a bad residual % of 42% after 4 years. Money factor is .00235

Infiniti is running a special right now that allows you to get an FX35 with 0 down $458/month. The lease is for 12K miles per year and goes for only 27 months. This would be the base model FX35 which goes for $40,000 which you should be able to get for $35826. Residual % is 69%, Money factor is .00125. You are better off adding $1,000 in options to the Infiniti. price would be $41,000 MSRP, your price should be 36950. Lease Payment would be ~$500 + tax but you only have to keep it for 27 months and it is a little nicer.

So, is you first job out of college paying more than $70,000/year? If not, then you are starting off on a wrong foot. Generally, your vehicle should not cost more than half of your annual pay. I am sure you know what your salary will be, you do the math.

Check out the reliability ratings of a vehicle before buying it based on the look alone. Audi's/VW's are not known for good quality.

Remember though, the Audi will be under warranty for the whole lease term
